After Thunder

Review for the v0.2d : Story focused AVN, if I have to discuss it. It's a demo and i think it lays out the intro to the story quite well. The backstory is enough to hook us to know more. And the ladies they are also used quite well with each having distinct personalities and not just throwing themselves to the mc's arm like that. The other characters are also done brilliantly, I am intrigued by the drunkard, tbh he is quite mysterious as hell and I think he could have a bigger role to play in mc's future. Overall, good enough demo to make us want more, and I really want to see where the dev's gonna take us. Good luck to the dev!

Impressive looking characters, renders are high quality World seems basic but looks fairly decent and oriental setting feels historically authentic, structures and look are well done. Story is intriguing and more interesting than the usual hum drum AVNs. Dialogue is structured and reads very well and is not overly bloated or text heavy, it flows just right. Characters are unique, have depth and fits well with the story. Audio is fairly good, the sounds that are there are done nicely and fit well with the setting. CONS: - See my opinions section for details. Some scenes and renders are dark and blurry, making them hard to appreciate and obscures much of the scene. Dialogue box is annoyingly large and there is no opacity setting to make it transparent. <- This is still an issue and the dev could easily fix it, why not, you are blocking a large part of beautiful scenes. UI needs work, several small issues, but ones that can be fixed easily e.g. hovering over page buttons not aligned when clicked, poor spacing etc. just sloppy. Revision of dialogue is needed, some grammatical and spelling errors crop up ever so often. Wrong characters referenced in some dialogue too. Animations now present during the lewd scene, but they are sub-standard, while the visuals are good the scenes are short loops that don't flow smoothly, often clipping and flashing too . Choices, while there do not seem to matter much. Their affect long term is anyone's guess and short terms simply change the immediate dialogue and/or a handful of renders from the alternate option. Choices still have no stat, does it matter acting humbled or resentful? OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS: NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't) Refreshing fantasy/historical take an oriental culture is a pleasant change from the usual western fantasy setting. Feels historically authentic and realistic for the time e.g. strong emphasis on honor and disgrace, being shunned like with Japanese Samurai culture. I dont expect much in terms of lewd, something about this AVN feels like the focus will be more story and writing focused and hour MC does not come across as the philandering hero we usually get. While this isnt bad as such, I can't help but feel disappointed. However maybe i will be surprised in future content. Per comment about choices, there simply feels like there is no agency for the MC, his path is set in stone, making the choices seem kinda disingenuous or rather irrelevant as the AVN (at least at this point) feels more kinetic. This is probably due to setting the stage for future content. I would opt if I were the dev to mention that in short preamble or intro, just that there are limited or shallow choices at the start and only later will there be more (if at all) that change the story or other outcomes. Logic inconsistencies, like MC takes bath and his black eye still present, the next day the eye is completely healed, this kind of oversight is too apparent and breaks immersion especially with an AVN that seems to check details and authenticity. Disappointing. TLDR: Renders are overall good and the game feels very authentic for the time-line and cultural setting. Sadly there is little in terms of choices that seem to matter or indicate that they would long term and there is little to any lewd content so far. Grammar, punctuation and spelling need work, general quality for the UI is lacking and basic settings are missing that cause breaks in immersion. Still short and content does not feel like its delivered with the kind of care and quality I would have liked to see. In a way this AVN is an oddity, some things are done very well and others less so, leaving me fairly unsatisfied and frustrated, it can be better and deserves to be.

Pretty interesting. I haven't seen any other game tackle this setting. The renders were spot on and immersive. Seemed to be a lot of content for a 0.1 release. I think the strong suit of this game will be the story, as it was entertaining to read through. There also seems to be a level of unpredictability, which is a huge plus.

Very promising in terms of the setting, writing, and visuals. I'm thoroughly impressed thus far with how the dialogue options feel in character and realistic regarding what scenario is at hand. No "scenes" yet, this is being written after playing v0.1a, so I am unable to write on that. "We Will Watch Your Career With Great Interest."
