Between Duty and Love

A visual novel just for my taste. I love almost all the things about it. Slow burn incest story with hot af characters, decent somewhat interesting story telling that you just don't skip through, sandbox but not the kind that needs hard grinding if not almost no grinding. The only problem is the instabilities across the animations with them being laggy on older systems but I'm 100% sure that is fixable even with an unofficial mod. I know the game gets a lot of criticism but almost none of them are valid. It is from those people with either tiktok brained or straight up wanting porn-logic brained, no in between. If you are confused by the rating of the game on this platform, give it a chance 100% and see it for yourself if you're saying you're not one of those people. If you're one of those people, don't review bomb it just cause it's not for your taste. And for the dev, please don't abandon this. It will get a lot more attention, positive attention, once it gets to a point where it reaches the right people.

It pains me to give this 3 stars but the potential it showed at the start fizzled out far too fast. The story showed a lot of promise. Mother is a spy and trying to juggle that with family life. Nothing ground breaking but it was interesting and I was looking forward to seeing it grow. Except it just turned into cliche central. It's got everything I ever hated about incest games and laid it on thick. Creeping on sleeping family, watching them change, shower scenes, the old "oh no, she's seen my boner" and the oh so overused flirty aunt. The main reason for the low score is it starts of interesting and then turns into a sandbox. I just don't have the patience for yet another cliche riddled incest sandbox. If it had stayed a VN and got rid of some of the shit that makes the MC look like a preteen virgin like getting a boner from hugging a fully clothed woman..... What's there is just average. it serves it's purpose but that's it. With the story set up I expected more but what I got was a generic incest game with a different coat.

Pros: Most of the renders are great, the animations range from decent to great, but that's about all there is that's about all it has going for it. The characters are all attractive or cute in their own right, some not for me. Cons: Just about everything else. The game takes a massive dump after going into sandbox mode and isn't very fun. The description paints choices as something that matters, but in the end, it feels nothing more than just an illusion of choice. You're still unable to avoid some situations or some level of character relationships or interactions, even if you have no interest. I wouldn't recommend this in its current form, or maybe not ever.

Sad to watch this go to sh*t. Loved it until sandbox and now it feels like I wasted my time investing in it. If the sandbox was done well it might have passed. Unfortunately it just looses focus and drops into low effort. Sorry to see this one tank =[

It's interesting and I think it really has potential. But it currently has nothing that would make me recommend. There appear to be 2 milfs and a few cougars and some teens. So quite a bit of potential action and it should be what quite a few are interested in. Still, nothing yet of major interest. Slow burn I guess. I'm waiting for something to hook me

As much as I liked this game before, I am just as disappointed with the latest (v0.5.2) update. Pros: -Excellent graphics -Beautiful, high-quality models -Acceptable text Cons: -Excessive 4k, especially in the animation, which leads to a slideshow and bloated game size! -Sandbox, which turned a rather exciting storyline into nothing - it all boiled down to clicking on the exclamation mark icon in the hope of seeing some progress in the story, but you get nothing! At the same time, nothing happens on the map and nothing works! An interesting game has turned into dreariness and boredom! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ => v0.5.2 ⭐⭐ I'll give it the old rating for now, in the hope that the author will fix it.

From bad to worse, I gave this another chance just because I like the looks of some women here, even though I hated everything else, but with this recent update it confirms this is just bad, not worth playing. One of the most notable additions is the awfully implemented sandbox, imo sandbox never adds anything to games and it is a waste in most cases but I still play and enjoy many sandbox games, it is often just a slight inconvenience, this game however, makes it so fucking annoying, he just didn't think it thoroughly when adding it the way that it did. Now the other issues are the characters, they are so fucking unlikeable and one dimensional, I don't like a single one of them, not the MC, or the girls, none, outside of their looks they got nothing going for them, most women are sluts and unlikeable and the MC is a buffon, then add to that the boring story and cringe dialogs (they sometimes talk like they're 13 years old, it's so stupid) and writing, and you got this game, which doesn't know what it wants to be. It is not clear who is it aiming to appeal to, it has no direction whatsoever.

Wow. I have a lot of thoughts about this one. First, the size. I know everybody thinks that 4K images and videos are all that, but even 4K jpeg files are ginormous. The game is only at Chapter (?) 4, and it's already 7GB. Well-optimized 1K webp and webm files will scale well enough for the few that actually play the game at 4K. And keep the size down. And serve the majority of people playing on smaller screens. Especially that ludicrous Sarah 1.4GB intro movie that you'll only watch once, if you can even get through it. I got a text I had to answer in the middle of it and went into the game menu, thinking it would stop the video. Nope. And because it's implemented as a video, you either sit through the entire 11 minutes non-stop or not at all. If you miss some of it, you have to sit through the whole thing again. It's a 4K video of plain backgrounds with an occasional transition. There is nothing there you couldn't have done with plain old script and static images, allowing you to stop/start and backtrack. And, um, the implication from the end of that video is that she was pregnant with, um, her Tenant? The whole Landlady/Mother thing is pretty silly if you leave the defaults. "If Sarah and Liz weren't Friends, they could totally be our lesbian Sarahs." Huh? So, is the story that she got an abortion, seeing as she's just your Landlady and all? Second, there is nothing in the sandbox section that couldn't have been done in a linear mode with menus. Because there are no meaningful long-running quests that a sandbox would facilitate, you end up having to spend your time wandering around trying to find what you are supposed to do next. There is nothing I hate more than clicking on a door or a room only to be told "you can't do that yet." Then don't make it clickable! And when you have multiple menu items on a screen, disable them once you've selected one. The having dinner with your "Friend Group" scene comes to mind. You get the menus every time, and they do nothing after the first time. Auto mode is useless. You can't tell if it's on or not. Highlight the button if it's on. And what's with the two Prefs buttons? At the rate that the "story" is progressing, how long will it take to pay off the 30 minutes or so you've had to invest in learning about some mob boss and Sarah's little side job? If you ignore the other stuff, on the plus side, the renders are pretty good, relatively speaking. It's nice to see a dev that understands what lighting is all about. On the other hand, this game desperately needs an AI CG tag for most of the animations... So I'd give it 2 1/2 stars if I could, for the effort. But the game itself? Meh. I'll bump it up another 1/2 star for potential. For the 50GB final game.

the only thing thus far good about this VN/Sandbox is the renders otherwise it is pointless . the story is okay ish it is just starting out so not much to go on except a little and even then you get stonewalled where the dev decided to go and switch up midway through from VN w/choices to a SANDBOX with choices . that alone is not a good thing nor a bad more bad than good but still you should not do that as it messes up the story and balance of said game/VN/Sandbox . again only thing good about this is the renders the story is more Meh than Okay ish i would say skip this if you dislike sandboxes as midway through it becomes said sandbox even if it is missing the tag .

This one is a very clear miss in my book in every aspect. Let's start with the story. It's very hard to make a good spy story, it's complicated to make a good criminal story, it's more or less easy to make a high school story, it's so-so to make a good porn story... juggling all of those at the same time is nearly impossible. And this is proof of what happens when an inexperienced writer tries, starting with the mostly stupid opening intro into what is a clearly teenager fantasy of what a spy is. Add bland and boring characters, uninteresting developments in the story, some characters falling for MC for no particular reason (teacher specially) and so on and the story falls every way it could. Also, writing itself is rather bad, with characters speaking in a childish and stupid way a lot of the time. Choices don't seem to matter enough, mostly if you want to see or not some thing, but I didn't make it far enough to actually be sure about it. Just dropped it because my time is worth more elsewhere. Render quality and charcaters are mediocre at best. Poses, light, etc. are pretty bad. I took out the music (always do) and don't remember sound effects or anything like it at all. At least don't remember any bugs either, but may have skipped through them without noticing. All in all, this is a very bad game. Go play almost anything else and you'll be better off.

Two-and-a-half stars, really. Not sure how people are giving this four. Maybe they only made it through the prologue, which shows some promise. Unfortunately once you get past that this is completely generic wander around the house incest game. You know exactly what to expect. Wow, I can't believe how good mom looks in that outfit. Oh shit, I'm getting a boner! The door is open, should I peek inside? Man, I can't believe my sister/mother/cat saw my boner when I was asleep. Someone's in the shower, should I look? Hi slutty Aunt, let's hang out and I'll walk in on you getting changed. I couldn't get further in my playtime than that, but I have zero doubts whatsoever that there are (or are going to be) changing room scenes, yoga, mom gets drunk and falls asleep on the couch, etc etc... As predictable as a sweet sixteen party on Epstein island. The game does try to differentiate itself somewhat with a side-plot where you mom is a secret agent or something. But the meat of the game is just the same shit you've seen over and over again. Spit, and you'll hit one of dozens of games with the same characters, same story beats, same scenarios. It's just cookie-cutter. And it's not like the models are fantastic or anything. They're... fine, for a few years ago. Certainly nothing special. If all you want is the same formulaic wander-around-a-house incest stuff you've played a million times before, then you'll like this. If you were hoping for something that breaks the molds, this ain't it.

LI's or maybe LI's are mostly eh looking I sense NTR is coming heavily Landlady plot might as well just call in incest especially since no landlady checks on their tennant like that kissing their forehead but whatever Flashback? makes little to no sense and right now doesn't fit the story Its far from the worst AVN on this site but that doesn't make it good either EDIT: AVN is now even worse more animation/transitions that are unneeded and broken saves that force replay

Animations are generally not bad but there can be some work done to improve the natural movements. Writing is pretty good, structured and reads well. Dialogue itself is actually thoughtful and characters do not come across as empty shells. Dialogue also does not feel bloated despite slow burn. Story seems fairly interesting, especially if we take what the mother does for a living. Sounds are generally pretty good, the music is nice, fits actually well in the scenes and general sound FX are good. Slow burn, but reasonable, has a good premise and is clearly building towards some juicy content, but does it at this stage still at a fair pace. CONS: - See my opinions section for details. Some renders of character faces need some work, expressions look sometimes like the characters face is mad of clay and does not look natural. Some animations need more work, movement is not natural and often characters look awkward in movements. Applies to normal renders also on occasion. The idea the MC is this almost Adonis to woman in the family and outside is a little odd? He is not unattractive, but he does not look very manly, he is not broad of chest or physique to really warrant the attraction from older woman, though this is minor and can be seen as a detail to preserve the story. No lewd scene sounds e.g. moans, gasps etc. Missing sounds for vehicles, doors opening, and other that add to immersion and quality. Playtime is not really much all things considered, I am hoping that development time will increase as long as quality is maintained of course. As for lewd and kinks, there are very little at this point, however the biggest kink is probably the family dynamic, but still there is little "action" at this point. I still prefer the pace here, simply because its more realistic yet does clearly progress, a fine line to walk but the developer does well. OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS : NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't) More sounds like character sounds, lewd scenes and the like can be better or a bit more and the dev could even use these in MCs day to day minor events to be suggestive? Even surprise, laugh, scare, shock etc sounds, not many but sometimes could be nice. While pacing is steady and is especially sensitive within the family dynamic and for characters that are seemingly "normal", the developer will need to add more content outside the family to keep players content with lewd/adult content while the family dynamic develops. TLDR: Generally a good AVN and does most things quite well, the story is interesting enough, the characters feel natural albeit don't always look it all renders or animations. The characters themselves look good and realistic including the MC, dialogue and writing are also good and the pacing is slow but progression is clear enough. Development speed is still a ? as its early days, there isn't much content but hopefully we will get more regularly. I would recommend supporting this developers work!

Great start for first release. Fun story, Good looking and Normal MC. Interesting LIs. Great pacing. Honestly you should give a game chance. My only complaint would be faces next to dialogue, Wish there was a option to disable. Wish dev good luck. And hope we can see game on steam

Hello there. This game is better than i thought, the story is engaging, the Li's are really hot, i like how we change pov from one protagonist and other. Another great point is how organic the dialogue is, one can see the familiarity and afection between the characters without being forced, and man, i havent seen sign of affection like this since the most popular games, so i have great hopes in this one. Then why it doesnt get 5 stars? Well, if you are looking for sex scenes, this is the wrong game, this one is a slow burn, so be patience.

Pros: Great renders (facial expressions are a bit off but still better than the average). Pretty decent story so far, not much to complain about. Cons: The main character's model is off putting. Characters keep referring to the MC as Michael even though I renamed him which is annoying. Updated review for the rework. The dev for some reason decided to make the game into sandbox a few updates in... seems like they realisied its just a cheap way to make the "playtime" seem longer than it is.. besides that the story has no direction and is all over the place. just skip this game not worth your time!

For an adult sexual game, there is no real female sex/nudity so far. The the only sexual activity is the main male character wanking. Developer is focusing on the wrong aspects if this is to be a male on female sexual type game...

Promising! I'm really curious to see where it goes and I will follow this little project, I hope it will keep going. Characters are nice, same for the story and writting. Renders are splendid, animation and characters too.
