Bible Black -La Noche de Walpurgis- Ren'Py Remake

Loved the anime and liked the VN, my problem with the VN is that the most minimal decision can change the ending but you will never know which one because some of the seem meaningless but they arent, so you have to play multiple times if you want to get all the endings and thats tiresome. The false ilusion of choice, some times the game ask you "Do you want to do this?" Or "Do this other thing?" if you choose "Other thing" the game will technically tell you to fuck you and do the other just because. And example, Imari goes everyday to wake you up, you have the option to "skip school" or "force yourself and go", if you choose skip, Imari will force you go either way. Other moment would be when Ms. Takashiro ask you if you will go with her, if you choose no, you will go to the club and after that, Minace will tell Imari that he has something to do and he will go after Takashiro and the scene will play almost the same than if you were choose to go with her, fake decisions like that are a lot. I cant stand Minace, like MC he is the worst, he complains a lot and he is so nosey, he thinks so high of himself, so selfcentered when he is pictured like a loser, good for nothing, dumb, he takes the worst decisions he can.

Always heard of the Bible Black series, but never bothered myself to go through the trouble of finding a way to play it. Now I could imagine how this would have been a sensation of its time. As for the remake, it was simple, smooth, and accessible. Nothing fancy or trying to make something new from the original. I appreciate it for letting me experience the original without being reminded that it is a remake.

This review isn't about judging the VN as a creative work—that would be pointless. It's already a classic from Sei Shoujo, known for its strong story, well-developed characters, and explicitly hardcore content. It's a must-play for any fan of the genre who isn't put off by that kind of material. Instead, I want to focus on the technical quality of this specific remaster. The original game came on CD and offered three graphic settings. I remember the HD image pack being the top-tier option—it was about 1.5 GB. Back in the early 2000s, that was a huge commitment, easily eating up most of your hard drive space. But it was worth it. The background (BG) and event (CG) images were so sharp they could still hold their own against some modern titles. Unfortunately, the creator of this remaster used the lower-quality image files. It doesn't ruin the experience—most of the art still looks fine—but you can't help but feel it could have been much better. Now, let's be clear: a ton of work clearly went into porting this to Ren'Py. Thanks to this effort, you don't have to hunt down a disc image, mess with compatibility settings, or deal with a game you can't minimize. That's a huge plus. However, while playing, I ran into a fair share of bugs and issues: Some backgrounds (like the classroom) look messy, with jagged, crooked lines—almost as if they were drawn by a careless AI. Some CGs have the same problem (for example, the scene at the apartment during the club gathering). There are also weird inconsistencies. In the scene where the swimming club girls bully Nonogusa, they're supposedly in the locker room, but the background is clearly a classroom. The actual locker room background only shows up in the next scene with Minase. These might not be all the issues, but they were enough to leave me with mixed feelings. Because of them, I'm giving this release 4 out of 5 stars . So, the big question: is it worth downloading and playing? Absolutely, yes. If you want to experience this classic without the hassle and can overlook these rough edges, this remaster is a great option. It achieves the main goal: it lets you conveniently play a legendary story, removing all the technical headaches of the original. NB: Despite the fact that Bible Black is a great VN, I don't recommend playing its sequel, Infection. In short: • Key issue: Sei Shoujo wasn't involved in the development of the sequel. Because of this, most of the images are simply reused from the first part, and the new CGS are noticeably inferior in quality. • Plot: The plot is still more or less, but the plot development and, especially, the ending are likely to disappoint. The overall narrative has become weaker and noticeably shorter. As a result, the game doesn't offer anything new in terms of visuals, and in terms of plot, it even rolls back. You should just play the original, and it's better not to mess with the second part.

It's perfect, please do infection. Would love to see that game also remade like this. I didn't face any bugs or problems while playing, and overall was great! (Again hoping you do infection next)

Lots of different endings, check the wiki for details. The MC is a bit of an idiot which is sometimes annoying, but otherwise the writing is pretty good. It often feels on rails but then again this is a VN so there's only ever so much choice. The ren'py version of the game is very well developed allowing for easy skipping of scenes up until a decision point making it a breeze to check out the different ending paths. I would say play through the game without checking the wiki first, it's more fun that way.

Played v1.11 on Android, all endings. I had no idea about the history of the game or series prior to this review. It's a fairly interesting setting where a dumb highschooler gets his hands on a magical book that allows him to wreak havoc. Partway through however, the plot shifts to instead stopping the evil antagonist from performing an evil ritual. I'm surprised most by the amount of occult research done for the game, with a surprising amount of incantations, but unfortunately the only actual magic seen on-screen is just a few burning talismen and a ritual circle (no cool demons or angels for you). The majority of the novel is endless sex scenes, and every female character has at least two scenes. None of them were particularly satisfying in my opinion, unfortunately, but at least they are well drawn. It's a decent read, but it's hard to connect to the characters when the sheer amount of sex scenes makes it feel like eating a cake that's all toppings and no crust. The sole moment when Minase and Imari showed any real character was when Imari finds Minase having sex with a brainwashed Shizuka. Imari pretty much has a breakdown while Minase muses about how he feels nothing for Shizuka since her love is fake. . It's not a bad novel, but it is not particularly spectacular either.

I had no issues with this port whatsoever. Everything worked fine as is, with the only thing I'd like added is a gallery. The game itself is considered one of the OGs if you're old enough to remember, but for the port itself here 5/5.

A much better and more stable engine behind one of the classics of the genre, that manages to keep even the look of the UI. They are also making regular updates so rapidly heading towards having all the original content.

This is an all time classic VN and it's awesome to finally have a Renpy version. It's definitely outdated in some aspects but the lore and illustrations are still interesting to this day. Kitami Reika in Kurumi's body is still the hottest. Definitely worth revisiting now that it is more readily available.

First, a big thanks to Bible Black Ren'Py for a 5/5 port of this game to a platform that's easier to pick up. Like many others here, Bible Black was one of the first hentai I ever discovered as a teen, and I love that the illustrations and sexual events in this game feel true to the original. It appeals to my sense of nostalgia and even has a few famous scenes from the hentai while still diverting enough from the original story that I don't know what's going to happen next. My problem with this game seems to be fairly common in Japanese eroges: pacing and the illusion of choice. There are thousands of words of filler/slice-of-life beats in this story that don't move the story forward or effectively contribute to character development. To spice up this filler, the game will periodically give you two choices--but they don't mean anything. Some of the choices will straight up railroad you like, "You try to do choice B, but are pushed into Choice A instead" while others simply change the next 2-3 slides but have no impact on the rest of the story. This storytelling device gives the game the appearance of being more interactive than it actually is, but left me frustrated when I looked back and realized how much time I wasted reading filler text while sitting on a stock image of a school or a house. Overall, I give this game 4/5 as a fan of the original IP. If you're not a Bible Black fan, or dislike the aforementioned style of storytelling, you may find it less enjoyable.

It's weird to review this game because one one hand, you have one of the GOATs and this is an easy 5 star, and on the other you have the port part. Do we score entirely on the port part? I haven't had any issues. The game is long so I'll admit to not being a beta tester for every line in this review. I just saw it was working and dropped 5 stars. I won't spoil it, mostly because you guys probably have seen the same things I have. But this story is great. Really hits that plot > porn vibe where the plot is "SEX WITH CRAZY PEOPLE IS SCARY" so the plot is also porn.

The OG! Can't wait for this amazing rendition to come to life. Due to its age a lot of the younger gamers are not aware of this gem! Thanking the developer for actually bring this legendary title to renpy!

Legend returns! Bible Black is an absolute legend of adult gaming, good to see it in this easily playable state and without annoying technical complications like virtual disks and small resolutions. I like the game more than the series. Hope to see this project finished.
