This story is about a missed opportunity that comes along again, and it's hard not to take it! It's the story of buried feelings that resurface, of repressed desires that come back stronger. It's the story of destiny, which always imposes itself on those it pursues and catches up with. Spoiler Debbie was a kind of anti-system who dyed her hair purple, purposely neglected her looks and didn't give a damn about being overweight. She didn't socialize much with the other girls at school; her only buddy was Kenneth, a smart, quiet, discreet guy. Since Kenneth was a good friend of Wayne's, by necessity, she also hung out with Wayne. Wayne was something else altogether: the school hunk that all the girls went for, and whom he happily consumed at the slightest opportunity. He wasn't stupid at all, but he was pretty lazy, and without Kenneth's help, he would have had a harder time finishing school. For his part, Kenneth took advantage of Wayne's aura to hang out with the hot high-school girls Wayne was no longer interested in. Nothing had ever happened between Kenneth and Debbie. She fell in love with a student from the same school, but two years older. They moved into his home, where he began working while she finished her studies. All went well, until one day Debbie caught her boyfriend screwing one of her models. She left him on the spot, but didn't know where else to go. It was precisely on that day that she ran into Kenneth, who was also finishing his studies in the same town. He offered to share the small apartment his parents were renting for him. It was around this time that Debbie changed her mind about looking good. She watched her diet and radically changed her look. As the months went by, they also became romantically involved and ended up going out together. After two years together, they got married. Kenneth worked in a power station, while Debbie had a lot of work as a freelance graphic designer. The story begins shortly after Kenneth received the kind of promotion you don't turn down: assistant chief engineer at a power plant near Miami. No sooner said than done: they're moving!
