A hospital coordinator, Ga-Yeon, fell in love with a doctor at the hospital she was working in and they had an affair even though the doctor was a married man. But when the director found out, she was fired. For over a year she tried to find another job, but her mental uneasiness eventually made her give up and she became a recluse. A year later, in the spring of 2013, her younger sister, Hye-Na, and her first love Yun-Woo come to her. A story about the dark side of today's youth and pretty serious everyday life happening around Ga-Yeon.

Discouraged Workers is voyeuristic enjoyment, not critique . It forces the player to witness Ga-yeon’s degradation—emotionally, psychologically, sexually—without offering her agency, justice, or healing. Discouraged Workers is not a critique; it’s trauma porn . A true critique would hold the married man accountable and allow Ga-yeon a path to healing or resistance. Instead, the game dwells in her suffering without challenging the system that destroys her. The man faces zero consequences , reinforcing the very injustice it claims to expose—without narrative pushback, it becomes complicit . Ga-yeon’s only arcs are degradation, suicide, or pregnancy in despair —no empowerment, no escape. The game luxuriates in her breakdown through explicit scenes and psychological torment, offering no catharsis, insight, or resistance . That’s not social commentary; it’s exploitation . Voyeuristic spectacle. Without structural critique or character agency, it reduces her trauma to spectacle. There’s no narrative effort to dismantle the system, hold power accountable, or offer redemption. Instead, it invites the player to observe and consume her pain , in classic trauma porn fashion —where suffering is exploited for emotional shock under the guise of awareness or art.
