For the folks from 2030s, yes this game does play very clunky, slow, and basic, but you will recognize the seeds of some features that your generation of games have taken for granted. In effect this is taking the plot and game mechanics of a JRPG game into a 3D space, which is actually an achievement for its time (also that it's a finished product is pretty impressive, given the graveyard of unfinished games of the genre out there).
