Guest House is a Ren'Py visual novel by Soft Whisper Games, built with 3DCG visuals. You play the main character, a traveler who has gone abroad for an exchange program and now lives in the far east, in a boarding house run by a well-connected, mysterious woman. What starts as a practical arrangement becomes intimate as you settle into daily life and get to know other tenants, each carrying their own ambitions, insecurities, and hidden wants. The story centers on romance and harem relationships, with late-night talks, unexpected confessions, and memorable days in the house.
The current build is v0.3.9, released September 23, 2026, and development continues. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac in English, with no censorship. This update focuses on the beginning of Chapter 4 and adds a music video at the end for a cleaner stopping point. A choice menu randomizer makes unlocking every girl's route less straightforward. The opening now asks which travel destination you want, changing character names to match their cultures and clarifying the fantasy setting across Myeonguk, Itsuma, and Lianzhe. SteamDeck and Steam features were also added ahead of a future release.

Decided to call this one 0.3.9 since it's more focused on the beginning of Chapter 4. A new music video has been added to the end of this version, giving the game a better stopping point. A choice menu randomizer has been added so it's not so easy to unlock every girl's route. The beginning of the game now asks you which travel destination you'd like to go to, dynamically altering character names to match their specific culture. This makes it clear the game is set in a fantasy world, made up of three different countries: Myeonguk, Itsuma, and Lianzhe. Lastly, various SteamDeck and Steam specific functionalities have been added to the game in preparation for the upcoming release.

Added a 3some scene with Jisun and Yuna (if you've maxed their dispositions) at the end of chapter 3. Also did good amount of bug fixing since 0.3.6 still had scenes that wouldn't trigger correctly. Lastly, I added a simple flow chart. Ren'py can't easily handle complex flowcharts, so this only tracks the choices you made. It won't show the full branching tree of missed options since that code is somewhat beyond my capabilities.

Guest house is no longer a kinetic novel! I have implemented a choice based affection system that displays whether a character is your Acquaintance, Friend, Dating, Girlfriend, or your (maxed stat) Lover. Saying something a character likes will raise her affection level and unlock new scenes. Saying something she dislikes will cause you to miss certain scenes. This allows you to romance who you like and sets the game up for multiple endings. Just be careful not to get friend-zoned. Fair warning, this update will probably break your save due to the code changes.
Additionally, I have added the character Sue Nami back to the game with a fresh design. She has some new scenes with more content coming.
Last but not least, I've gone ahead and added controller support. Playstation + Xbox controllers should work now.
