Initial F95 Release
This is a very good game, the characters are very good, I like the story so far. It's not exaggerated, there are some programming errors, but it's okay. I think this can be a successful project. Don't give up!
PROS - The models are decent and unique. Not the best renders compared to the competition but decent. - There is a sandbox and VN modes. So if you don't like wasting time clicking on locations, you can turn it into a VN. But both versions are pretty buggy (even if you select VN, the game would randomly go into sandbox mode for some reason?) CONS - This game barely uses any of the advantages of Unity. Renpy is literally designed and optimized for VNs so idk why this is in Unity. In terms of coding, the dev is just making things harder for himself and making experience poor for players. - Everything just moves so slow. Whether its ingame navigation or transitioning between scenes or just clicking on menu options. There is a huge lag and delay to do anything. Terribly optimized. - Its super buggy. I've encountered many game-stopping bugs that forced me to restart. Sometimes the game would just randomly freeze. The save/load system is also atroacious. - Dev apparently doesnt even have time to mention that the game is over so you are stuck wondering if you encountered another bug or if there is nothing left to do. I had to look into this thread to find out the update is over. - There is barely any content besides introducing the characters and setting the scene. I can't even comment on the story cause there is barely anything. Not much H content either 1 bj scene with blonde/old man and 1 handjob with purple hair girl. Thats it.
Our Fathers' Sins 0.1.6.2 Pros - The 3D models used, characters, story, eye candy, and erotic situations are all smoking hot. A lot of the dialogue (not all) is very polished and well written, and there was even punctuation at the end of sentences for most of the game. Oh, the UI is nice too, although it's annoying to have to click ACCEPT twice at the beginning of the game anytime you restart the game. PS - For the dialogue, some of it is beautifully written, probably with an AI's help, which is a good thing when you get assistance to make things better. But then for other parts of the game, words are misspelled like "Grand father" instead of "grandfather" and "Grand daughter" instead of "Granddaughter". You get the idea. Cons - Everything else. There aren't just a few bugs. Or 10 bugs. Or 30 bugs. Or 50 bugs. There are hundreds of them. And some of them are so glaringly obvious, even within the first two minutes of the game. There is no excuse for this. Anyone should be able to play their own game and see these countless bugs right away. Cons - It is possible to make Unity games as good or even better than Renpy games if the Unity games let you do the same things such as rewind, skip, etc. This game attempts that, but it gets so much wrong. Even though we can rewind, we can't rewind far and not past the most recent choice. The skip is impossible to use. Pressing CTRL will immediately skip you forward really far with no way of rewinding. There is no fast forward. The save system is atrocious as well. You can't rename saves or delete saves. You can't even overwrite over existing saves. And when you go to load saves, the saves are never in the order that you want them to be in. Honestly, for this game, I can't see one good reason to use Unity. I would use Renpy instead. Look how long it takes to load a save in this game. It takes like five seconds. But in Renpy, it would load instantly. Anyway, playing this game was a MISERABLE experience because there were so many bugs, nothing worked right, there were limitations, and poor Unity assets were used like a bad Save System. Overall, I would give the characters, models, story, erotic situations, dialogue, etc. a 10/10. I would give the actual game itself like save systems, skip controls, rewind controls, etc. a 0/10. And from my experience developers never care and never fix this stuff. So we have to put up with it. I'm so exhausted from always making detailed lists of hundreds of things wrong with a game and I'm lucky if one or two of them get fixed, but oftentimes none will get fixed at all. Just to list the bugs in this game would take 10 pages. God, this need a port into Renpy. PS - One of the first things that I noticed about this game was that the game itself and the game's icon on the taskbar kept flickering. I know other people noticed it too. What is up with that? Better not be malware or a virus.
Maybe this could turn into something decent in the future. But right now, as of version 0.4.0.1 (sigh) it's just not fun or interesting. I'll say first of all though, I dont just dump a review and that's it. I try to return to my old-ish reviews to revise them in case something changed in the game, that warrants a different 'score'. For *NOW* though, this is a 2-ish stars 'game' for me . If it gets better in the future, I'll change my rating - or lower it if it gets (even) worse. So there's a couple of 'positive' things, so I might as well get them out of the way first. Most of the females in this game/VN are attractive enough. Nothing unique here though, if you like me have 'played' around a thousand VNs over the years, it's common to run into the same model over and over...and over. I do not hold this as a negative point against this VN though, as I said, they look good enough, most of them anyway. And it's a matter of preferances at the end of the day. What I like, you might dislike, and vice versa. The biggest disappointment so far, is the mo..I mean..landlady? step-mom? whatever you choose her to be, she's just not 'doing it' for me. If you wanna go down that route, with the whole incest kink, you kinda want the 'mom' to be veeeery attractive. In this case, I gladly skip the incest and just stick to landlady, room-mate, etc etc. The sister/roommate/whatever, is no fun either. Not as un-attractive as the 'milf of the house' but also not someone you drool over. The aunt however, she's as fine as they come. Again, just my taste, yours may very well vary. The BIGGEST minus for this "VN", which will always haunt it, is the choice of 'engine'. Fkn Unity for a VN? I tend to specifically ignore Unity shit, because they always end up annoying and tedious and ZERO convienence and/or quality of life. For example, here, you cannot skip. Say you need to replay the content, or a section of the little content there is? Rejoice you need to literally click thru every, fucking, screen, one, at, a, time. Sure maybe the dev feels more comfortable with Unity instead of Ren'py. But when I also see the dev defending this choice by saying he's planning on making proper games in the future and rather get used to Unity as that fits that goal more than Ren'py. I say, fair enough, that in itself is a valid and understandable argument. However , who in their RIGHT mind, makes a game/product, and not trying to make it as best as it could possibly be? This is one of those VNs that would've been fine, fun, and enjoyable to play in Ren'py. Not the r-tarded Unity crap. Again, Unity is good for making games. But this is a fkn VN. And the dev is rather more interested in his future goals, than making this a 'hit'. Then why should anyone care or support this, when the dev himself couldn't be arsed to learn an engine that is way more fitting for this type of 'game' ? Not all AVN's in Unity are bad automatically though. But there's extremely few VNs that's actually really good, in Unity. Unity frankly sucks when it comes to VNs. As I said, as of current content, you cannot skip anything. In Ren'py you can skip everything, or choose to just skip everything you have already read. Which makes replayability and ease of play a pleasure. Unity, or rather THIS 'game' just makes me want to stay away even more. There's currently a bug, maybe it will get fixed within the next fifty updates, where you are *forced* to play in Fullscreen. AND, at least for me personally, there's no way, once you start playing, to open a menu, or check stats, or anything. My mouse cursor is literally *gone* until I reach a choice within the game, then I can use the cursor, but then I can't click on most of the icons becaues the game (Im guessing) is in a state where it just cares what option you pick. So how the fudge am I supposed to check stats or even SAVE whenever? Or for that matter, QUIT?` Literally had to alt+F4 to quit the game just now. See in Ren'py nothing like this would've been an issue. With Unity, and this 'game' in particular, everything that's wrong with Unity+AVN, is available here. Oh joy! I played this one when it was first available, back in january or whenever. It started off somewhat interesting. Enough for me to be curious (despite it being in this terrible engine) and was somewhat excited when I noticed there had been update, that I somehow must've missed. So today I played the latest version/update. Continued from where I saved last time, which was at the end of the previous content. MC talks about going to sleep, then go look for work. In between his own thoughts, the game thanks me for playing and that this is the end of the update? What? But it's not, I kept playing on, arrived at some convenience store or whatever, tried to read the dialogue lines, which was hard, because the text from earlier saying this is the end of content, is STILL there, behind the present dialogue lines. And I dunno about you, but for me it's fkn hard to read a line of text when it has a line of text right behind it. In other words, two layers of text, on top of each other. This went away after the next "loading.." screen thankfully. Again, da heck, loading screen? In an AVN? Oh Unity, you truly are the worst engine for VNs. So this update apparently was just MC getting from one location to another looking for job. Then back home - end of content. YAWN..what the hell was even this update? I hope I simply missed something that there was actually more. But I dunno, for me it started off with the new update, telling me I've reached the end of the version, which wasn't true. That text they was layered behind the following in-game dialogues so I have no fkn clue what was being said. Dont care though, boring as fuck is what it was. I dont care if a game doesnt have lewd scenes left and right every 5 minutes. Hell, I dont mind if this MC doesnt get his dick wet for another 5 updates. IF the journey there is interesting, and there's some sort of buildup to whoever he gets intimate with later. So my complaining that it's boring, has *nothing* to do with the lack of lewdness. I dont play AVNs purely to see some poorly made sexscene where the screen flashes white fifty times to announce that someone had an orgasm. It's the whole package, character development, story, getting to know the characters, maybe become fond of some if not all of them. Make me care, make me give a shit. Make me root for the MC. Make me long for the MC to get together with Female A or/and B. But again, I had high hopes after the initial version landed here, despite it not being terribly long, I found it more than ok. But all the issues and annoyances that comes with Unity, and the pisspoor job making this 'game' in that engine, just took away almost all the excitement I had for this 'game'. And sadly I dont think the dev will wisen up and switch to Ren'py instead, because he's already expressed where his priority lies. And it's not to make his current project a popular awesome 'game'. I even decided to restart the damn game as well. Figured I would try another gamemode, as you can play in either 'adventure' or 'vn' mode. As someone that very much dislikes sandbox and minigames, if there's a VN mode, I click that hit that button as if it owed me money. So wether I played in adventure or VN, I still couldn't do ANYTHING other than lazily keep clicking thru the same scenes Ive seen before. There's no 'skip' function, and never will be in this game. So replayability is 0/10. Doesnt matter if there will be multiple paths, few people have the patience to replay and see the same sh-t over and over again. I didnt get further in my '2nd playthru' than to the end of the first breakfast, literally within the first couple of minutes of the game. Thats where I noticed I couldn't open any menu, no way to save or quit, great. Fantastic. I Alt+F4'd that shit and deleted the 'game' without hesitation. I've played a lot of really bad VNs over the years, and recently too sadly. This is NOT one of those "terrible writing, ugly characters, horrible grammar, etc etc". Not at all. It's not gonna win any awards, but it's not BAD in that sense. It's just that it's SO friggin annoying and BORING to play. I gave the game a second chance when I decided to restart from the beginning, thinking maybe that will fix the issues I had earlier (double text and such). But I couldn't be arsed to sit here and click a million times just to get thru the shit I've already experienced. This is where a skip function would've been lovely. Know which engine does this REALLY well and is perfect for VNs? Ren'py. But alas, here we are. Maybe one day this will become at least a 3-star for me. But so far, it's just barely a 2-star. But I hope for the best. And I'll give this another chance after a FEW more updates, no way I'm bothering to check ever update, not with this annoyance of a game. But I want to be fair to the game (and dev, in a way) and give it one more chance later on. And IF I deem it better/worse, I will revise this review/rating. So here's hoping that later this year or whenever, maybe this is suddenly a 4-star? I HIGHLY doubt it, but again, I hope for the best. On the other hand, I dont really care, I really feel that I've lost interest in this one. Which is sad for several reasons, one of them being, it's just getting started. But imagine 10 or whatever updates from now, and you lose your saves, or you're forced to replay the game for whatever reason. You have 10-ish updates of content to literally click thru. Since you, once again, cannot skip at all. But again, fair is fair, I'll give this one a last chance later down the road. Preferably the dev has switched over to Ren'py so we can actually enjoy his project, but as mentioned, seems unlikely. For now, and most likely for the next few updates from now, I recommend not even bothering with this one. Not the worst. It's not even *bad* per se. Just frustrating, annoying, tedious, and on top of that, pretty fkn boring. My suggestion, check back on this 'game' at the end of 2026 or later, maybe then it's not riddled with bugs and have implemented at least some signs of quality of life for the poor suckers that waste their time on this. ( Edit: August 16 2026: 0.1.6.2 is the latest version. Not sure what's going on with the version numbers but this is at the time of writing the 'newest' available update. It adds..something. So it's an update for sure. But it still has a million and one bugs. It's a wonder that this 'game' even starts, considering just how poorly it's made. Still the characters look nice. Potential story could..potentially be good later on as well. But the gameplay, be it 'Adventure/sandbox' or 'VN' mode, is a full blown nightmare. Getting access to stats for the ladies, or anything like that, rarely works. Even if the game now actually show those icons on top of the screen, I personally have only been able to click on them once, all other times, there's not even a mouse cursor. (eh?). But when you get choices to make in dialogue, then the mouse cursor shows itself and you can finally click wherever. Last available 'quest' in the CURRENT build, is like most other things in this game, broken-ish. You can see the dialogue and options, but you dont have any renders. You are treated to the static image of the town map. So from the text in this quest as that's the only thing working, I gather we get to spy on that lady in the shower. Shame all the player see is the town map. Still a drag to play though, especially RE-playing. You still can't skip. And when it DOES work, you skip the ENTIRE sequence/event. For the love of god, switch to Ren'py while there's still any interest and hopes left for this game. So latest/current version of the game has about the same, if not even more bugs and broken sh-t in it. Most bugs from earlier in my review are *still* present. Now we also have new ones. The first little bug you'll encounter is basically a few seconds after you booted up the game. If you choose "VN" mode, and after choosing relations blah blah, and you're "finished" to start the actual gameplay, nothing happens. I found that if you right click (which opens the save/options menu) and right click again, you are thrown into the game. Masterful quality on this game boys. I am honestly 'inches' away from giving this a 1-star instead of 2-star. If these bugs are still here in the *next* update or the one after that, I will change this to a 1-star probably. I can only give the dev SO many chances to fix his sh-t /end edit Avoid for now. Best of luck to the dev though, truly. I honestly really want this to be good, I want to enjoy this. And here's hoping it gets good after some more updates. I truly do wish the best for the dev and the game. But again, for now, this aint worth anyone's time. And anything above a 2-star is stupid. Dear dev, switch to Ren'py. That alone would be half a win, and I wouldn't have *ANY* issues with replaying (or playing at all as it is now) the game. As it is now, it's just pure torture.
Not much here atm but I'm looking forward to it. The models all look decent besides the father. The dialogue isn't mind blowing but it isn't bad. I genuinely can't wait for more of Mom and Auntie along with the dnd dudes gf. The characters have decent chemistry. Again there's not too much here but this seems to have some decent bones. Few issues is the fact that if you have to reload, its gonna take you forever to get back to where you need to get to. The arrow buttons on dialogue is wrong as in up is left and so on. Overall the fact that its nowhere near done really blows because my whistle is wet and now i have to wait.
