About The Rub
The Rub is a Ren'Py kinetic novel from Eiderdown Productions, presented with 3D CG art and a fantasy-parody tone. You play Nicholas Nickels Finch, a professional photographer whose work takes him to an antique dealer shoot. During the session, an old bottle is misplaced and ends up in his bag. Back home, he opens it and frees a genie, leaving him to manage his friendships, his job, and a magically powerful entity that has been pent up for a long time. The story draws inspiration from an old, beloved American sitcom.
The current build is a finished release, version 1.0, dated March 18, 2025. It is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac in English, with no censorship. This is a full release, not a demo.
Developer's description
You follow or play as Nicholas "Nickels" Finch, a man working successfully as a professional photographer. At a photoshoot for an antique dealer, an old bottle gets "lost," finding its way to our main character's bag. Once home, he discovers the bottle and releases the genie within. Now he has to work out how to navigate his friends and work and a magically powerful pent-up entity. The story is inspired by an old and beloved American sitcom.
