A Ring or the Shield
About A Ring or the Shield
A Ring or the Shield is a Ren'Py adult visual novel by Mr.Nonnypants, using AI-generated 2D CG artwork. You play a man who returns home after years abroad finishing his degree, hoping to surprise his family while interviewing for a job at a respected company. An accidental meeting with his mother ruins her undercover work, endangering the household and triggering events that could tear it apart. To help her cover and continue the investigation, he must navigate deception and personal choices. The story centers on corruption, asking how far his mother will go to protect her step-daughters from dangerous criminals, and whether he will force her to choose between a ring and the shield.
The current Week-1 build is not final; development is ongoing. It was released on August 8, 2025, and adds Days 2 through 7. Earlier demo history includes a September 20, 2024 first demo covering Day 0 and Day 1, without sexual content, followed by bug fixes, extra sprite poses, and one added render on September 29, 2024. A July 24, 2025 remastered demo changed the presentation and added scenes to fit the revised narrative. The game runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, is in English, and is uncensored.
