After the Fire is an adult visual novel by Captain Doctor, made in Ren'Py and presented with 2D CG art and animation. You play a young man whose mother is nearly killed in a strange accident. The trauma is followed by another upheaval: he must live with his father, someone absent for most of his life. A mysterious gift soon appears, offering a way to cope with this difficult period and opening paths through the story.
Development is ongoing, and the current build is 6.4, dated October 21, 2026. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, is written in English, and is uncensored. Update 6.4 added optional scenes involving Barry, Bailey, and Helen. Earlier changes include completion of Helen's route, additional art, animations, characters, and a hospital location.
Developer's description
A young man nearly loses his mother in a freak and unexplained accident. As if going through that traumatic experience wasn't enough, now he must move in with his father who has been away his whole life. Luckily our protagonist is about to stumble upon a mysterious gift that will help him through this tough time.
