Alice: A Hard Life is a choice-based visual novel by Caylake, built in Ren'Py with 3DCG and animated scenes. You play Alice Garcia, a government secret agent with a maverick streak, who lives in a small apartment building that is quiet. After failing missions, she receives one last chance and a new assignment. Under the alias Helena White, she becomes a teacher for senior-year students at a private high school. There she faces pressure, economic hardship, difficult choices, and compromises that test her identity. The story explores a female protagonist, corruption, and voyeurism as she asks whether her decisions are right and whether temptation will change her.
The current build is Episode 1 v1.6, released October 5, 2025. Development is ongoing. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, is in English, and is uncensored. The latest changelog entry for v1.6 lists no changes. The previous v1.5 update added more than 450 images, more than 4 animations, over 4000 lines of code, and several render and code fixes. Earlier v1.0 notes mention first release and bug fixes, including dialog corrections, a missing gallery scene, name errors, rollback support, and scenes that lacked player choices.

My game is a choice-based visual novel where you take on the role of Alice Garcia, a secret agent working for the government. She lives in a small, quiet apartment building. Having been involved in many missions so far, Alice has a maverick personality. That's why she hasn't been able to fulfill the missions she's been given. She is given one last chance and is given a new mission. Spoiler: More Alice starts a new job as a senior year teacher at a private high school. In order to ensure the security and confidentiality of her mission, she adopts a fake name, Helena White. In this new and challenging role, she will meet many people, encounter numerous difficulties, and be forced to compromise on her lifestyle and personality. On one hand, there's the pressure of her job, and on the other, economic hardships. Her life is filled with unanswered questions. Are the decisions she makes really right? What if he makes a wrong decision? Will she remain a pure woman, knowing that she may fail in her mission, or will she give in to temptation and become a dirty prostitute in order to succeed in her mission? Some decisions have to be made, perhaps unwillingly. At the end of these questions, all she has to ask herself is this: How do I know right from wrong?
