Caerlin: Rising

I like the setting, like a non-magic Harry Potter with the houses and hierarchies, but the game itself is...rushed? I'm not going to trash on the AI art because it's a solo developer, probably without the art resources to make a game by his/herself, and the AI art is surprisingly consistent. Let me expand on my issue with this game. Spoilers below. You are introduced to the school, and you make a couple of choices on how to interact with Marcus, the school "alpha", setting you up for a decision-based VN, and then you just get blasted with exposition without any real choices; your character chooses his own house without your input. Then your character does his pickup artist moves on Vega, the resident pink hair "I'm different" girl, and it works like a charm. You get no input in how you want to approach besides the opening line, and it reaches the same place no matter what, no option to reject Vega. Then, during the hot stuff, it's revealed that other people are in the room, and Leah, a different girl, is there masturbating and joins in; we have no interaction or choices. The whiplash between setting up for decision-based gameplay and just the game powering through choices is pretty jarring, but let me go back to my first thing of saying that the game is "rushed", your character starts talking to the girls after waking up with them in the morning about his plans and his ideas to get even and gain respect, and Vega starts acting like a clingy crazy girl, and you have no way to call her out on this, instead the MC goes "I care about you.", bitch they just met!!!!! It's a rushed, convoluted mess, the idea was fine, and the AI art isn't bad, but the story doesn't know what it wants to be, the game doesn't know what it wants to be, and I know one thing: I don't want to play this game.

I've never given an AI art VN 5 stars before, but this is solid. The writing is interesting, be it dialogue, characters, plot, etc. Quite spooky at times. Also, the writer's grasp of the English language is 10x better than the average. I hate that it's AI art, but I also get how hard it is to make your first VN. I reluctantly give the guy a pass.

AI slop. Not a bad one, that's why the average score: story seems to be actually interesting (at least in the first 2 chapters that I played). Still, it has that annoying "soulless" feel to it. And I'm not talking about the art, it's very obviously AI-generated but I'm fine with that. The writing is quite "sloppy" too, which makes it unpleasant to read (at least for me).

version ch6-I'm only about to start chapter 5 atm, but had to write a review before i went to bed. I'll finish the chapters tomorrow. First it is very story rich, and has great character development. parts of it remind me of the prince bride as things get repeated, here it's about being seen. I haven't done any other play through yet but seems kinetic. So i'm sure the choices really don't matter, the outcome will be the same. The renders are great, and i don't remember seeing animations. If you are looking for fap material, well you aren't going to be happy. Everything is vanilla, so if you are looking for kinks you aren't going to be happy. But if you are looking for star crossed lovers that are gonna try to fight a system, then this is for you. Some characters have a hard lesson to learn, and sometimes those lessons can make the player have liquid leak from their eyes. Great writing, keep it up dev. Can't wait for the next update.

I've never bothered writing a review for anything because, well, its porn. lol Frankly i was just skipping through the game like i do all the others until the pink haired girl flipped out on me and I was immediately hooked. With my interest now firmly on understanding her dynamic i restarted the entire game in order to understand what happened exactly. That being said, what really got me to take time to write this review was the solemn ending to Chapter 2 and its final sentences, "Sometimes.. you have to make an effort not to bleed with people who are sharp. There are people who are broken... and cant be saved." Poetic. Honestly hit me in the feels. Didn't expect to cry from both ends.

The main reason I still lurk around F95 is to find titles like this that can still blow my mind up and make you go through is for six straight hours without moving. Oh yeah, it's chapter 5 and I opened it at 01am and closed it when it was way past 07am without finishing it. I prefer VNs wit good story as fap content one can find all over the net and it's not the reason I'm on F95. So yeah this is a story rich fap poor VN and thank you for it Crowne. [Ch-5] P.S. Not much of a review, I know, but I just wanted to write something to give it the 5 stars it deserves and this is highest praise I could think off with the lack of sleep I had today because of it.

AMAZING! Sublime writing, gorgeous art and impressive setting. There is so much love and potential inside this story that it makes one of the best games out there. Really, try it, it deserve so much! I like the setting, the plot is sooo interesting, the concept behind it is so whole and true that almost made me cry. I don't know how it will end, but so far is simly amazing. 5/5 and kudos to the author! Really impressing!

not at all what I was expecting. and I mean that in the best possible way. there are a couple choices that matter early on, but not many. closer to the end of current content there's a rather large, complex choice that we'll have to see how it plays out. the nsfw aspects of the game are decent. nothing amazing, but not bad. the story, however, includes a few plot twists. and it's quite deep into psychological 'who am I and who do I want to be as a character, really' kind of stuff. very well done. I couldn't stop reading it. looking forward to more when it's ready.

Surprisingly engaging with a fast start. Good story and great girls with an awful lot of promise and room to grow into something. Decisions may actually have consequence but too early to really tell. Do you want to keep multiple paths open and show concern or get a sex scene? I want my team MC threesome back from the beginning and start my harem but so far I really like where this is going and I'm eager to continue the ride. Definitely worth following.

A surprisingly good game with real potential. The story remains quite linear but still engaging, letting the player flow naturally through each scene. A solid experience that could grow even better with future updates
