Dose of Reality is a slow, choice-driven visual novel by Acryl, built in Ren'Py and presented with 2D AI-generated CG art. You play Mel, whose name can be changed, as an ordinary young man entering a new school year after a difficult stretch of life. The story follows his coping with his sisters and mother while meeting new people and reconnecting with old friends. It focuses on everyday characters rather than heroes, villains, or world-changing power, and uses a sandbox-like structure where decisions, paths, and small events can influence later outcomes. Themes include romance, school life, and sandbox exploration.
The current build is v0.314, released on April 6, 2023, and development is ongoing. It runs on Windows and Android, is written in English, and is uncensored. The latest available version offers the described slow, branching school-life experience without a final ending.

You are Mel (or insert name as you see fit), a normal young man with a normal life, starting the first day of school after a lousy last year, coped with by you, your sisters and your mother, though along the way you will meet more people, and maybe old friends. This is not a game of heroes and villains, if you expect to achieve great things then this game may not be for you. This is a slow game, well treated, with decision making and paths to explore, also small events arising from other events and that in the end? also clashes with other events, which makes it immersive, so in this case if I can say that here what you do will have a trigger, and can leave you at one end of the story or another. But no, it’s not a game of heroes and villains, don’t expect to rule the world, because it won’t happen, I like good plots well treated and slow, so if that interests you, stay, maybe you will like it too.
