About The Downfall of the Empire

The Downfall of the Empire is a 2D adventure game made by potato_samurai (ぽてと侍) using RPGM and animated CG artwork. It is set after a war between humans and demons ended when the Demon King was sealed. The map now holds three powers: the law-focused Celestia Empire, the trade-centered Mercant Duchy, and the demon region Necrosia. In the middle is Edelwald, where you follow a princess trying to save her realm across a continent shaped by old conflict and uneasy peace. Its themes include fantasy, a female protagonist, and corruption.

The current build is version 1.00, released October 30, 2026. It runs on Windows and supports English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese. The adult content is censored with mosaics. The available build is a released version, not a demo.

Developer's description

Long ago, a war between humans and demons ravaged the continent until the Demon King was sealed away, bringing an end to the conflict. Now, three nations coexist in relative peace: the law-bound Celestia Empire, the commerce-driven Mercant Duchy, and the demon-inhabited region of Necrosia. At the heart of these territories lies the Kingdom of Edelwald, where a princess must risk everything to protect her kingdom.
