Hearthfire is a story-driven visual novel by Rolibar, built in Ren'Py with 2D CG artwork. You play Chris, a male otter who leaves college after failing grades and drives a blue sedan north. Violent snowstorms cause a car crash that strands him in the Yukon mountains. A polar bear named Tonraq rescues and cares for him. The story follows Chris as he learns about Tonraq’s closed-off nature, helps deal with unnatural snowstorms, and makes friends in the small village of Iskut while seeking a way home. The game focuses on furry, gay, and romance themes.
The current build is v1.0, released June 7, 2024, and development is ongoing. It is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android. The game is in English and is uncensored.
Developer's description
Taking time off from college and failing grades, Chris decides to get away from everything by getting into his blue sedan and pointing it North. However, violent snow storms ensure that he never makes it to his destination. Ending in a violent car crash, Chris finds himself stranded out in the Yukon mountains with no way home. He ends up being dragged from the snow and nursed back to health by an imposing and emotionally closed off polar bear named Tonraq. Over time, he'll learn to crack that frigid exterior and see what's within as his savior helps him escape the unnatural snowstorms that threaten the polar bear's home. Along the way, Chris meets others in the small village of Iskut, making unlikely friends as they band together to help the lost otter find his way home.
