About Katawa Shoujo Prealpha Repair

Katawa Shoujo Prealpha Repair is a Ren'Py visual novel by Four Leaf Studios, shown in bishoujo-style art. It follows Hisao Nakai, a male protagonist with a congenital heart condition, after he moves to Yamaku High School, a fictional Japanese school for disabled students. During his time there, he builds friendships and can follow one of five main romance paths.

This build is finished and dated May 21, 2017. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac, uses English, and is uncensored. The project reconstructs a leaked, unfinished Alpha version rather than the official release, restoring alternate storylines, scenes, character developments, and endings, especially for Hanako, Lilly, and Shizune. The latest update added large amounts of Alpha-era content, repaired broken branches, restored unused dialogue and scenes, improved route continuity, and corrected grammar and text. It also restored Hanako route material, a shared Hanako/Lilly storyline, Shizune content, and incomplete Lilly route material, while preserving Rin differences and integrating surviving Emi Alpha material.

Developer's description

Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set at the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled students in modern Japan. After a congenital heart condition abruptly changes his life, Hisao Nakai transfers to Yamaku following a long hospitalisation, where he gradually forms new friendships and may pursue one of five main romantic paths. The Alpha Repair Project restores and reconstructs an earlier, unfinished version of Katawa Shoujo that differs substantially from the official release. Several routes contain alternate storylines, scenes, character developments, and endings that were later rewritten or removed, with Hanako, Lilly, and Shizune showing some of the biggest differences. The project repairs broken scripts, reconnects unfinished branches, restores missing content, and makes the leaked Alpha version playable while preserving its distinct early-development story. Spoiler: Disclaimer Some of the stories in the Alpha version can be much darker and grimmer than their final version couterparts.
