Memory Leak

The writing is fine, and the idea is nice, but everything else is just outright awful. Everything about this game is slow. From the intro to progression, everything is just an absolute drag to get through. There's no good way to save your spot, so if you make a mistake you have to start over. Getting through the same stuff is slow as well, because even with a skip, text pops up at such a snail's pace that you just spend ages waiting to reach the same choices. Even the game starts off slow, with nearly a full minute of just waiting to get through unskippable popups. This game takes itself way t oo seriously. It's like having to sit through the opening of an AAA title from 2010, where you have 10 logos that refuse to go away. The game also has ear piercing white noise for zero reason during the intro, blowing your ears out if you aren't prepared. Every single thing about this game is just slow. It's awful to play through, and even worse to replay, which isn't ideal since the game intends for you to fail. Not worth your time, of which it demands a lot.

Memory Leak is a visual novel following a bad-end-to-sex-scene structure. Its content is entirely gay and furry. First off—this game simply exudes style and flair. It takes place in a delightfully captivating cyberpunk dystopia, and every part of the game's UI and music helps to complement this. People "jack in" and transport themselves to different places in the cyberspace, and the first chapter explores a sex slave black market. Specific plot details involving how the code works become a bit fuzzy later on, but as long as you don't think too hard about it, it's easy to immerse yourself in this place where any misstep could mean being caught and turned into a mindless fuck toy. Each sex scene is written rather well and is paired with a single CG that is sent to the gallery. And the game makes sure that you are well-teased before one happens with a picture of the MC's face and his current emotion displayed below it, as well as small windows where you can see the current relevant characters—and exactly what they are wearing. The art is great: if you like bara characters, you will definitely enjoy this one. As for gameplay, there's not much to say about it, except that you choose two of four skills at the beginning to pass certain skill checks that may lead to bad ends. To prevent frustration, I highly recommend using the walkthrough and planning out which bad ends to experience beforehand, as the mechanics are barely explained and may be unintuitive at first. Bonus points for the official walkthrough not spoiling the ending CGs. Additional Notes: This game is a bit pricey (if you pay for it). While it's a lot of content I don't think it's worth $30. Maybe $10. The music is surprisingly good and fitting for when it shows up. Pro tip: Use Ctrl to speed up various parts of the game, including the intro title card.
