There is always a lot to say about games like these. I always compare them to that of ecchi anime, rather than hentai, even if they do contain full on sex scenes. That’s because the porn aspects of these games aren’t all that they have to offer. Up till this review, I have played a lot of eroge titles, most western, because I can’t read Japanese. Projekt Passion, Eternum, Ripples, etc. All of them have one thing in common. On the surface, they may seem like porn games. But they have so much more to offer than just lust. My Bully is my Lover, or as I will call it for convenience, MBL is definitely one of these games. It’s a dramatic, romantic masterpiece in my eyes. That’s not to say it doesn’t have flaws, but I do think the flaws are part of what makes it so. Let’s start off with the good. MBL is quite possibly my current favorite when it comes to dramatic visual novels. It is incredibly capable in this field, knowing just when to use certain elements to draw up suspense, or keep a mystery hidden just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Following this, are those damn animations. Brother, when I say this game has some of the best animation in this particular industry, that isn’t an exaggeration. I remember the earlier CG’s being more frames, but later in the series, they gain full animation, and even dip into animation outside of the sex scenes. Finally, the relationships, and their dynamics. Each relationship feels unique. As Nii-chan says at the start of the game, it does follow quite the handful of cliche’s, enemies to lovers, delinquents, screaming and hitting someone if they walk into the bath. But cliches within themselves are not inherently bad. It’s how the person telling the story uses them that defines them. And I think Nii-chan really nailed it. As for the bad… The pacing is a bit… inconsistent, in my opinion. Sometimes, it feels gradual, slowly building relationships, and moving the story along one step at a time. Then, it’ll just start dashing out of nowhere, and then coming to an abrupt stop. It can be a bit jarring, but you get used to it, so it’s not horrible. I’m assuming this is due to the lengthy process of making a game like this. Hindsight is 20/20. When making a game like this, it’s one step at a time, one episode at a time. And being the creator of something gives you a natural bias. Not only that, opinions differ dramatically. So one cannot aim to please all. [SPOILERS] While I was praising Nii-chan’s skill with drama, a few moments do stand out as not particularly good. Like, the whole deal with Jovian… it feels stunted, like there was so much intrigue and mystery behind it… then we just suddenly get the answer to, well, literally everything in one scene. Already, we start off at a bad position after the time skip, because all but pretty much one loose end has been tied up. So the motivation to keep going after can get pretty low. Luckily, Nii-chan did a good job on bringing interest back with the newer plot lines, like Klara’s depression, the hunt for rich boy. Honestly can’t remember his name, the problems with Naomi. While at first, I was asking myself, “Well… what else is there to explore then?” But, I found myself slowly getting back into it by the end of Chapter 2, Episode 1. [SPOILER END] I will say that I’m the kind of person who likes waiting for a while, letting my memory fade, as well as more and more updates to release, before getting back into a series from the beginning. Probably what I’m gonna do again honestly. But I will be back for this series. There is no doubt of that. Finally, I have an objection to the disclaimer for this game. This very much is a revenge story. Because the best revenge is showing it doesn’t affect you anymore, and moving on. Hell. You could say MC got the best revenge, by making quite literally all the girls fall in love with him, and vice versa. I really love this game already, and it’ll remain on my radar as I wait for more updates to come out. Till then, keep up the good work Nii-chan, and I highly recommend this game to everyone out there.

Gave a 3-star rating but it might change to 4 or even 5 in the future since the changes in chapter 2 are so significant that it changed my thoughts of this game throughly. But honestly, the review below are still going to have a lot of complaints due to the obvious shortcomings that affected my gaming experience in the beginning stages of the game. First things first, the story which was praised the most in my country (the south pole), was actually not fascinating to me at all in the beginning. In the first 4-5 hours of the game, most of the character's actions are all incomprehensible: the MC acts like a over-confident waste-of-space, and the LIs are still falling for him for no reason, and the major villains of the game act like children for no reason. Though the developer stated at the beginning that it was intentional, but the bad storytelling makes this even worse. For example: the story between MC and Sky/Gwen in the beginning were so cliche and deliberate just to remind you that you are playing a brainless porn game that needed H-scenes, and these two characters are just tools for the gallery. The initial story was so badly written that even with the emotional and touching story we can see in the later part of the game, I can't seem to pick up a liking to these two characters. Seriously, this is a big issue: forcing players to start in the middle of the story without providing the background information that the MC have but we players don't is quite irritating. In the beginning of the game, we don't know (hence we don't feel) that the MC has a childhoodpromise of love with Emy, we don't get the feeling that MC gets of being bullied throughout the high school other than a few lines of cheap text, we don't get the feeling of living under the same roof with Sky and Klara for a long time because she comes straight up and have sex with you within the first 10 minutes of story, and we don't have the heart-racing feeling of seeing Gwen, MC's first-time because all the story was provided after the time we should feel something - this kind of storytelling just makes the story less convincing and less immersive. It was since Emma's storyline that the bad storytelling starts to change, alongside with the visuals improvement. Though I personally can't say that I like Emma's storyline (first year primary school students acting love just not ok bro) , but the improvement of storytelling made the story less soapy and more touching after all. And the same thing happens to the later solo stories of the LIs. Aine's character arc is my personal favorite, though the one-week encounter still seems too deliberate, but we can see her personality development and this was genuinely touching. About Moon, another public favorite, it might be just me that I don't actually enjoy the "Violet Evergarden" type of character from the beginning, a feminine military killing machine trying to understand humanity and love was just ridiculous. But I actually enjoy this story that it made everything logical with the main story quest unveiled alongside the romance route. I would say the second half of chapter one "landed" the mistakes that were made in the first half smoothly and left a great beginning for the dramatic change in chapter two to change everything. I can see that the story have a bright future with the obvious improvement all the way through and I really can't wait for the story to continue or that we might see a remake of the earlier episodes. But I must say that the story is quite hard to finish since the world setting is already huge with its large amount of characters and questions unanswered. Not to mention the author still needs to clean up the mess made beforehand, Lily, for example. Currently she was just made abroad so that she wouldn't affect the main storyline at all. And it wouldn't shock me if the story ended up that she also have some unknown mysterious soapy connection with the MC before the story happens like what we've already seen in Gwen, Emma, Aine, Moon, Sky and Klara (holy shit that leaves only Naomi). But I genuinely hope that this won't happen. Well another minor issue is that the font, selection box and certain parts of the GUI just seems to be too slicky. And some of the choices are just silly that they don't give out any useful information like "What about..." make the game seems childish even when it's an adult game. So much for the trash talk, might be a good game in the future after all.

The game to be fair warns you of its anime influence. In fact the dev makes a point to give you an intro that says as much, with an extra warning that you'll hate characters at first, but to give them a chance. Yea, that's not a way to start a redemption story. That just makes the player go "so...you're going to pull some random pity shit out of a hat and expect the player to go along with it". If you want to do redemption, then write it well, don't tell the player ahead of time it's going to happen! All that said, the rest was painful to go through. The dialogue is so extended past what would be normal that it becomes almost comical. Example: You have a conversation with a SIDE LI about her performance at work. No joke, the author thought it was a good idea to spend entire scenes teaching a LI about customer service and you can even have a mini-game/test of sorts to see how she does. The game is full of stuff like that, pointless conversations that do little to expand on the personalities of the characters or their backgrounds, but are still forced. Flashbacks that are the length of entire updates explaining the background of a SINGLE LI (I'm not joking) while heart-wrenching, are WAY too much, and would work much better in a small LI cast game. Not 10+. The final nail in the coffin is the MCs dialogue (especially inner dialogue), as with the dev's first game, they insist on having the MC internally explain/discuss literally everything going on around them. It pads the game out to an extreme length needlessly. It's a shame, because there is some good here, but it's surrounded by so much cringe. I won't even touch on the main plot, way too much effort put into it when the game at its heart is a slice of life harem anime.

Sorry, but I need to be direct. I fell in love with this game. I genuinely like the characters. I feel empathy for them, I feel proud when I see them grow, when things finally seem like they’re going to work out. And that’s exactly why the direction this story is taking is pissing me off. This game was always fun. Really fun. Now I’m honestly hesitant to keep playing, because I don’t know what to expect anymore. And no, I’m not a masochist who enjoys swallowing constant, pointless suffering. The problem isn’t sadness. The problem is this nonstop emotional roller coaster. There’s always a fight. Sometimes with the same character again and again. Everyone has a tragic past, everyone suffers, things start to get better… and then out of nowhere the game throws everything back into the gutter. Chapter 1 ends well. Chapter 2 starts with Kei in a psychiatrist’s office. Seriously… what the hell for? That alone already starts breaking the player’s trust. There’s this tight feeling in the chest from watching the characters get screwed over nonstop, and the question won’t leave my head: what the fuck is all this suffering even for if, in the end, all that’s left is more sadness? The story starts getting confusing. There are fights that aren’t explained. Characters are depressed without enough context. Important things are simply not explained, while the suffering just keeps piling up. I tried to keep playing. Then Gwen comes back from her trip — one of my favorite characters. She gives Kei a necklace and talks with that farewell tone. Even while saying she’s not leaving, the feeling stays. And at that moment I thought: great, here comes some bullshit. Seriously: don’t pull any shit with Gwen. By that point, I had already lost a good part of my trust in the direction of the story. Now every emotional moment feels like a warning sign. It becomes impossible to relax and just enjoy the game like before. And then there’s Serene. She barely appears, but her story is heavy as hell. That hit me hard. Even the protagonist clearly can’t handle that properly. I care about these characters. That’s exactly why I’m writing this. Right now I’m still at the beginning of Chapter 2, and I know only Chapter 2 has been released so far. So fine, I’ll keep playing. I’ll wait. I’ll see where this goes. But I need to ask you, directly and without sugarcoating it, niichan: Where is all of this going? Is there actually going to be a reward for all this pain, or is it just suffering for the sake of suffering? Will there be space for happiness, healing, and explanations? Or is the idea just to drag the characters further and further down? If all of this has a purpose and a payoff in the end, great. But if it doesn’t… maybe it’s better to stop here — even if it hurts. Because dropping a story I like hurts like hell. It feels like abandoning the characters without knowing what ending they got. I just hope there’s a happy ending. Honestly. I know there’s still a lot to happen and a lot to be explained. I just needed to get this off my chest, even if no one reads it. Fuck it. I really like this game, but seeing the direction it’s taking is sad — and infuriating at the same time. I wrote this because I was fucking done. So much nonstop sadness was killing my urge to play, and I needed to dump this shit somewhere before I snapped. Maybe I’ll keep playing, maybe I won’t — I just had to say it and get it off my chest. And fuck, who would’ve thought a game would make me come here to complain like a damn idiot. Son of a bitch is way too good at writing. I’ve played a shitload of games, but this is the first time I’ve ever gotten this pissed off. What a mess.

Sometimes you play a game or read a book and it truly grinds your heart, you feel touched by it. As if the characters are real, as if they have a place in your heart like a friend or even a crush. I downloaded this game a year or so ago and felt too put off by the anime vibes, they felt cringy to me lol, still do but I can at least apreciate it since it's done in a tasteful way. I have played many games thanks to this great forum, and never have I actually felt connected to the characters before. It might be because they remind me of real people I've interacted with but nevertheless I have become a fan, 100%. The world building itself is great even if the world itself isn't very creative. It's basically Japan/Asia mixed with England/Europe/US with new names and a new history which funnily enough works perfectly, it's like a parallel world to our own earth. While I have my favorites (Emma, Gwen & Moon) all of the characters are likeable in their own way, I like most of the tropes so all the girls are great but I'm basically saying there's a girl to every type for you to like. While I don't recommend the incest patch since it's faulty I'd say Klara and Sky are suppoused to be the mother and sister, Emma is the robotic damsel who's had a horrible life, Aine is the princess who never could choose or do what she wants in life, Gwen is the tortured free soul too restricted in life to be able to blossom, Freya is the overshadowed little sister etc, etc. The reason I mention this is because the anime vibe doesn't just bring some humor or edge to the series but it also connects all of the points mentioned above and weaves them into a complicated drama that ends up being incredible. The answeres are never as they seem, there's always other reasons and while the MC seems like a push-over (the biggest reason for me dropping this at first) there's a good reason for everything. Not to spoil but he's not actually a push over, he's a kind person who's trying to be better, who just improved his own life by leaps and doesn't want to fuck it up by bringing the past into this. Maybe I grew a little in the last year since I was miffed by him not wanting revenge AT ALL lol. The renders are beautiful, the story is full of intrigue and the characters are great. So much so that after I finished MBML, I took a few hours break reading a book to calm me down and then started playing Sicae. Now that it's established, I'll give the game a total rating out of 10. I'm giving the music a 7/10, while many of the tracks are great, some of the songs are even 10/10 worthy, they aren't used right sometimes, basically they felt slightly off at times. The renders are a 9/10, while it's nothing special or something we've never seen in other games, it's done incredibly well and the characters are all beautiful in their own right and realistic looking (even if some of the proportions can be very fantasy lol). The Story is a clean 10/10, I've rambled too much about the story above so I won't say much more. The writing itself get's a 10/10, never felt off, the dev wrote well and I never had to reread because of bad writing ever. Some games have certain problems either because it's translated from whatever language into english or because the dev themselves has english as a second/third language. The final score should be a mix of all the scores above but I'm giving it a 10/10. I recommend this game to anyone who doesn't have anything else to play/watch or read. It's not going to blow you away but expect to cry a little (I'm a grown man and I cried like a little bitch several times, maybe it hit too close to home lol). Give the game a try! ^^

According to me this game deserves a solid 4.6 out of 5. I don't usually write long reviews but seeing some people giving it 3 or 2 I really want to clarify some misconception. Firstly the graphics at the start might look not too good especially if you are accustomed to newer HS2 but bear with it, it will get really better soon. Secondly many people are saying that things happen too fast and there is not much information and it might seem confusing but trust me Nichan does give everything a reason and the story is really good especially the romantic scenes scenes. Thirdly many people saying that there are not many sex scenes and that you have to go through so much dialogues to get them but trust me the wait is worth it and a good story takes time. Fourthly I want to talk about the emma solo route, it's unlike any other game I have seen, where when you try to go for a solo route they just do the so so and the game ends but no here there is good amount of storyline and emma exclusive scenes, her pregnancy and how to also adopt a daughter and also her mother's second letter overall this solo route was very well done and kind of made me emotional too as they grow old and also a mysterious ending whose secret will probably be only revealed in the correct harem route. I would suggest you save and give this route a go too. I have only played till ch1 ep4 but I really wanted to write this review as also because of these reviews that I initially not wanted to play this game. This game deserves more reviews TBH . Lastly yeah I would recommend it definitely. Will update this review after playing CH2 ep1 if I am not lazy enough. Edit : The new animation was really good , the phone app they added in the new update was too good like I can read some of their life in the whole 1.5 year time skip overall the ch 2 ep 1 was good too .

The story is confusing and convoluted, featuring a dozen or more girls most of whom you can sleep with. The narrative randomly jumps between topics, veering from the girls to assassins, a special mission, firearms, and back to the girls, while hopping between random groups of characters. One moment you're talking with four girls (say, X, Y, Z, and Q); the next episode forces you into conversations with four entirely different ones (Z, B, C, and P), with no coherent progression. The H-scenes lean heavily toward the vanilla side, lacking any real spiciness, and some feel blatantly recycled. You can even unlock endings where a girl bears your child. Compounding the frustration, there's no gallery unlock button after finishing the game. That said, the character models are one of the few positives, looking decent for the most part. Ultimately, the game would be far better with half as many girls but storylines twice as developed - it's a textbook case of spreading the attention too thin. The narrative is bloated with boring filler text, making immersion nearly impossible, which is a death knell for a visual novel. It would be a lot better if instead of random narrative jumping between characters only to never see the character you want to try romancing again, there was a sandbox system to advance relationships with a girl of your choice. Moreover there are conflicting paths in this game, which does not add to enjoyment. Like you accept girl X advances and it turns off progression for girl Y. But otherwise you can sleep with a dozen of girls in row and nobody cares?

Been loving the animation and story, however there are times titles default to Landlady/childhood-friend. If you're going to allow the player to dictate the relationship, don't override it the second chapter in. The true illusion of choice, "What is she to you? Cousin? Weird way of spelling Childhood Friend."

Fun story. Some of the best animation out there. Easily belongs in the top tier of Harem VNs. The raw lust is great but the emotional intimacy is even better. NiiChan knows how to cheese it up and isn't afraid to.

Is it a perfect game? No. But the good outweighs the bad by such a massive margin that you tend to forget the bad exists. In general as the game goes on everything just gets better, from writing to character models to animations. The only thing that kinda stays rough throughout is pacing, with some flashbacks being a whole chapter. Overall id give the game a 4.5/5 but because how absolutely incredible the last episode was im more than happy to round up to a 5/5. Can’t wait for more and im genuinely excited to play this devs other game very soon. PS. Moon is best girl fite me!

Having played roughly 80% through CH1 Ep4's content, I felt it was enough to give the game a fair review out here. It ends up a 2.9 out of 5 for now, due to the reasons below. Preface: This is more of a " Visual Novel with Adult elements ", and not a true "Adult Visual Novel". The reason is simple - it is 95% story, 5% (or less) sex. Since it's in the AVN section, I'm rating it against other AVNs, not VNs. Pros: + Good LI personalities - they are basically all different + Good fleshing out of LI backstories (if a bit much) + Attractive models - many are varied in body type, but usually attractive + A decent-to-good story so far + Decent animations, though there's room for improvement + Music generally tends to follow scene theme and tone + Good use of emotional impact for backstories + The solo story with Emma is a fun way to finish, but not the recommended final path. Save before pursuing it (it's VERY long itself), then reload and choose the harem path. Cons: - Sex scenes can be short, and not involved enough to pull the viewer in - Camera angles during sex scenes could be vastly improved to show more - Choices rarely matter in affecting the story, even the LI preferences - Far too many flashbacks fleshing out the story - Flashbacks are unbelievably long in some places (one was an entire early episode) - Flashbacks rarely if ever include sex scenes, detracting from Adult content -- The MC can be a fucking moron at times. One of his co-workers finally gets up the nerve to blow him behind the counter while a customer is there (kinky stuff), and when they're done she suggests they "do it". Her older sister calls the MC, and he leaves the younger one hanging while he talks. Of course she gets pissed and leaves work, barely talking to him. He is absolutely clueless of course - a moron at best. And the biggest Cons: -- The frequency of sex scenes is perhaps 1/3 to 1/4 of what you'd see in a regular Adult Visual Novel, which is why this is a Visual Novel with adult elements. You're basically here for the story, and are occasionally shown a sex scene. It almost feels at times like skipping text using CTRL is beneficial. -- Some LIs (like the MC's sister) have so few sex scenes it's pitiful. They're fully into each other (have been since the beginning) and want it, but the MC just goes about his daily routine and skips any chance to make both of them happy. This happens with a lot of the LIs, even after sex is permissible and desired between the two. Often it feels like the developer is teasing the reader, but I can only attribute it to a lazy avoidance of additional scenes. If you're more into a story, this might be fun for you. And it's not -that- heavy into Anime elements. But if you're here for sex, or equal parts sex & story, it will likely disappoint. It's not a true or 'classic' AVN, at least not 80% of the way through current content. The game has a chance to improve in the future with effort. But I think in order not to disappoint many AVN fans, the developer needs to go back through existing content and ADD in additional sex scenes to balance the scales.

Weak in all aspects Standard harem game with poor execution. It feels like somebody giving you a short summary of what is happening in the game, rather than being immersed into the story by yourself. Pros - Some of the characters looks cute - Good quality lewd scenes in latest updates - Good concept Cons - Beginning of the game looks very outdated - Standard and boring story - Characters act like programmed robots. Nothing interesting about them. - Some of the Li looks really weird - Dialogs are very simplified - Soap opera. There is no drama or conflicts. You won't find real bullies here. 2/5 Play it only if you run out of other options.

Played Ch. 1 Ep. 4 - CV with the walkthrough mod. Have to agree with others here in that I'm surprised how highly this game is rated. I do like the models - the girls are attractive, and there's a bit of variation. I'm also partial to Honey Select, so that bumped this up from 2 stars. The story and writing is where this is lacking IMHO. The dialogue is stiff and awkward, and the story overall isn't particularly interesting. There are a few interesting moments scattered in here, but it's a slog to get from one to the next.

As always no information beforehand. This is a crazy but good game. There are so much twist and turn , if you think where the game is going think again because when you see the story of the girls to the MC and how they interwine... sorry no spoiler. At this time CH1 Ep4 i would close the chapter and start a whole new one, because it feels like it. There are stll some mysteries and I think a lot to learn about. Hope this don't gets abandoned, If it will no longer progress just leave it here, im fine with it. it think the chapter can be closed. 5 of 5 stars

The real rating is 2.5 but because of so many unjustified 5 star ratings, I rounded down. now, in order The graphics are 4/5, there's not much to say. It's pretty good for 3D. The heroines are pleasing to the eye (but not the main character) Main heroines 2/5. Good foundation but actual implementation is bad. This can be compared to a meme about a horse where the head is drawn by a professional artist and the rest of the body is like a schoolboy drawing. interactivity 2/5. A classic illusion of choice. You just choose who to fuck and who not to. Now, let's talk about the main part - the plot. Rating: 1/5. Initially, the story seems intriguing, but as you progress through it, it quickly loses its meaning, becoming boring, strange, and even absurd at times. The narrative jumps around, being uneven, fragmented, and sometimes downright clumsy. The author wants to write a serious story, but it feels like he doesn't know much about the things he's writing about. The narrative structure is particularly irritating: as soon as the focus shifts to a new character, the others simply disappear from the story indefinitely. r example: I decided to improve my relationship with Skye. We had an important scene on the beach, where we figured out the feelings, and after that, her presence in the story decreased by about 98%. The same fate befell the other characters. the player doesn't have enough time to get attached to someone or get to know them better, because as soon as that happens, the focus shifts to someone else.

This is one of the most over-hyped games out there. While there are a ton of far worse games out there, that's a very different thing from saying this is any type of good. Here's the TLDR version: While the core plot elements are actually not bad, they are told so poorly it all falls apart. Think of a sheltered 9 year old trying to teach you about relationships, dysfucntional families, jobs, etc. I will start with the 'good'' points. The basic premise is decent enough. It's a redemption story of sorts set to a back drop of a ton of family drama of the wealthy and powerful. The character models are also good looking. And the opening contains a funny bit if you choose the 'bad' dialogue choice when you first meet your former bully. Also I kind of liked the character types he chose and the back stories they were given. Last, I like that it tries to be a positive story with healing and positive relationships with a happily ever after for all. Now the stuff that wasn't so great. This VN has the reputation of a great story but the writing is awful. It could be the writer is 9, maybe younger, because that's the level of understanding that goes into this world building. It goes far beyond over simplification. It might be mildly funny if the intent was to be a parody but no .... this is a serious writing attempt. This level of understanding or rather ignoarnce covers everything - how a work place functions, how people interact, how relationships work ... everything. It's like it's all through the lens of a young child that knows this stuff exists but really has no idea how any of it works. Do you like flash backs? Then this one should be in the 'good' column because wow does this have flashbacks. Every character has a backstory and it must be told through multiple, often lengthy flashbacks. Repeatedly. And while we are on the subject of back stories ... remember when I said I liked the backstories? It's more the bare bones concepts of them that I liked. It's akin to good jokes told really poorly. As alluded to above, you need to have titanium level ability of suspension of disbelief to accept most of what's being related. Love interests. If they are a human female, they are a love interest. Not just a sex partner but a full blown love interest. And 95%+ of the characters are female. That's fine in a fapfest adult novel but not if you are trying to do a well written love story. Unless you are a really good writer (such as Caribdus of Eturnum fame). Not sure if I should include this but since it bugged me I will. This is supposed to be a slow burn story. This means you build up the tension and desire and eventually get a pay off. There are tons of 'bonus images' that get thrown on the screen at scene changes that contain nudes and sex. It's totally counter productive to the slow burn. Even though the images themselves are pretty good, they aren't timed right. It's sort of like reading a mystery but at the end of the first chapter somone writes in the margin who did it and why. Takes out most of the suspense and joy of reading a mystery. Same principle for a 'slow burn'. There's more but I think the point has been made. This VN has some decent plot elements and models but as a story and VN it's a total fail.

Oof. Talk about an overhyped game. If I'm being completely honest, I'd say this is 2.5 stars ('average' rather than 'poor'), but because of the fawning reviews I rounded down instead of up. I understand why this game got so much praise, but that's more of an indictment over the average AVN than it is because there is anything special about MBML. Let's get into it. - Writing: The dev can write characters well. They warn about the use of anime style dialogue and tropes, and it's definitely there throughout, which makes all of the characters seem about 10 years younger than they're supposed to be. Which, okay, that makes it a bit easier to read lengthy, slice-of-life dialogue, which there is a metric shit-ton of. I came into this VN looking forward to something story-heavy, with a deep plot and 3D characters (personality-wise, not looks). And for all that the story is indeed heavy ... - Plot: If you asked me to sum up MBML in one word, it would be BLOAT . We start with a fairly interesting redemption arc, where a meangirl and her posse moves in with their former victim MC, cue romance. There's even an amusing option at the character's arrival for the MC to slam the door in their face and roll credits. You get an hour or so in, though, and realize that no, that's not the plot. Instead, it's an absurd mafia plotline, with scheming mothers and teenage bodyguards and childhood romances and CHRIST can you stick to a single plot without making everything bizarre and convoluted??!? story. All the realism and immersion completely vanishes thanks to the over-the-top melodrama. - Mechanics/set up: You know the best way to make a reader like your characters? Have 10-12 minute long flashbacks about innocuous childhood memories in the middle of the narrative. Wait, do I have that right? Oh, I had it backwards; that's how you make readers HATE your characters! And it's not even just the 'main' LIs -the ones who are forced on you by the dev - it's even the anecdotal side characters. Everyone gets a lengthy flashback sequence. It's infuriating. - the Love Interests: First off, the game has a simple love point system. You do/say nice things and you get a +1 notification. I rejected the main LI (the bully) at every instance. Never got a single +1. And STILL, the MC waxes poetic every time her name is mentioned, with long internal monologues about "maybe she's really changed!" and "is it possible she likes me?!" practically non stop. This is the fundamental problem with this AVN. There simply are not impactful choices. Don't like a character? Don't worry! Everyone will just act like you do, so it's fine for you to be as big of a douchebag as you prefer. And yes, every character has an individual personality and backstory. That's genuinely nice to see in an AVN, and I commend the dev for taking the time to craft characters. But the entirety of their personal narratives (and long flashbacks) are just in service to explain why they love the MC - instead of us getting to see them fall for the MC! It's all been settled a priori; you don't get to enjoy a romance, because one-half the romantic pairing starts the story already in love. It sucks. And, as a side note, if you want to write a story with 'deep' characters falling in love, you can't have a dozen love interests. There are too many women to care about, wihch encourages the player to reject/ignore the ones that the player dislikes.... which takes us RIGHT back to certain LIs being forced on the MC for the plot's convenience. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I feel like this AVN would be better served as a kinetic novel, because the fact that I am unable to have the MC simply tell certain women to fuck off makes it feel like none of my choices matter anyway. And, listen - here's the secret about why this isn't a good game - the reason it feels like none of my choices matter is because none of my choices matter . I know what you're going to say - 'Wait! You just said a minute ago that you chose to ignore certain LIs!" Yes, I did say that. And yes, there are choices to ignore/not pursue the women. But the choices DO NOT MATTER, because none of your choices affect the MC's feelings!!!! If you treat Aine - the bully - like shit, the MC will still sob himself to sleep while jacking it into stolen pairs of her panties. If you reject the CEO/businesswoman LI, the MC will still have longing flashbacks and long meandering thoughts about how much he likes her. The MC is who he is, and you can do fuck all to change that. Ugh. I like this game a lot less after having to put my thoughts into words. Don't believe the hype. Give it a pass. Edited to add: if you post a review that is anything less than sycophantic, the developer and his toadies will then proceed to harass you over and over. This isn't relevant to the poor quality of MBML, but it does offer insight into why the story so is puerile.

Due to F95's Reviewing Rules, I can't give the same detailed review for My Bully is My Lover on here, that I gave it on itch.io. That said, I will say this: My Bully is My Lover is an interesting case. It starts out not all that good, but it gets significantly better overtime. I'll admit, it's rough getting past the Prologue. But Chapter 1 makes it worth it! Overall, it's a well written game and a memorable adventure. Easily a 5/5! Compliments to NiiChan. And, again, I wanted to add more details to this, but my full, detailed review that I put on itch.io breaks some of the Reviewing Rules here, so I couldn't. For that, I apologize.

(First of all, let me make it very clear that this is just my opinion — you’re free to have yours. And here’s a heads-up: this game has a lot of dialogue. So if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t care about story, character development, and is only here for the sex scenes, you might as well skip it. On top of that, it’s a relatively long game, so be ready to spend a good few hours on it.) ... What can I even say about My Bully Is My Lover ? Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin. I just finished the latest update, and I’m still here, sitting, processing everything — every scene, every dialogue, every twist that hit me way harder than I ever expected. This game was recommended to me a long time ago by a friend. And honestly, when I first read the title, I assumed it was just another one of those typical games where the bullied protagonist grows up and gets revenge by turning every girl into his personal toy, feeding his ego through shallow domination. And God… how glad I am that I was completely wrong. From the very beginning, it became clear that this game is something else. Not once did I feel like the characters were just background NPCs filling space. They feel real — alive, with their own stories, emotions, and motivations. And that’s something you don’t see often, even in some of the most popular visual novels out there. You can tell how much care NiiChan put into developing every single one of them — whether they’re main characters, side characters, or even antagonists. It might sound silly to say this, but it’s been years since a game’s story hit me like this. Not even some of the highest-rated titles in the genre came close to touching me the way this game did. Because My Bully Is My Lover isn’t just about sex or fetishes. It’s about love, family, trauma, redemption, revenge… and most importantly, how love itself can be the most beautiful thing in the world — but also the most destructive when it’s born from pain, grief, and unresolved wounds. The chapter about Emma’s backstory absolutely broke me. Watching how she met the MC, how she lost her mom, and later reading the letter her mother left for her… I was not prepared for that. Seeing Emma break down as she read those words shattered me in a way I never saw coming. I cried with her. And even now, just remembering that scene, my eyes get teary. What’s even more powerful is that there isn’t a single sex scene in that chapter. Zero. It’s just pure, raw storytelling — honest, emotional, and powerful. I'm not saying the game doesn't have sex scenes — it definitely does, after all, it's an 18+ game. But the point is that these scenes happen when they make sense, at the right moment, with the necessary weight and intensity. It's not something thrown in randomly just for the sake of it. And that alone proves how insanely well-written this game is. It doesn’t need cheap fanservice to keep you hooked. It holds you with its story, with its characters, and with the raw emotional weight behind every moment. And it’s not just Emma . Every girl has her own story, her own struggles, her own journey. And all of them are treated with the same amount of care and depth. The most recent chapter focused on Moon is absolutely beautiful. Heartfelt, touching, and so genuine. It’s the kind of story that makes you pause, breathe deeply, and reflect on life in a way most games simply don’t. On the technical side, the game is just as impressive. The animations are clean, fluid, and natural. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing — far above average for this genre — and the sound effects are perfectly placed, enhancing the immersion at every moment. Honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a VN this polished, both artistically and technically. In the end, My Bully Is My Lover isn’t just another game I played. It’s an experience I lived . And honestly? It’s the kind of experience that’s going to stay with me for a long, long time.

One of the best game story i've ever played....even tho it's just a visual novel but the story is good enough to keep it interesting....each chapter took quite some time to finish but it's better to take long and give a good story than doing it fast with a half ass story...i would love to see more of the story in the future
