Private Eyes Is an erotic murder mystery visual novel that follows a young woman lost in life, looking for purpose and a way out of the malaise that has become her existence. You’ll make choices that will either send her further into the dark underbelly of the city's most infamous crime family, or you’ll take steps in search of finding your father’s killer. The choices are not always opposing sometimes playing along can find more details and sometimes digging a little deeper can lead to further corruption. Along the way, you’ll meet several people connected to the Rosewood family and see how they intertwine with the case she's following, and you’ll also meet people who have yet to be corrupted by them.

Really well done, an actual engaging story alongside great scenes. There are many positives about the game and it captures a sense of peril without making the MC out to be a dimwit but not impervious.

Not to be a contrarian, but I actually abhor the art style, despite it being technically adept. It's like a disney adult's take on western comics. Facial expressions - especially the infamous Dreamworks smirk - feel like a caricature. Colors - despite cold and warm palettes being weaved together skillfully - are alltogether too saturated, with very little variance despite changing lighting conditions. Bodily anatomy is well-done, animations fluid. The menu is slick and quick-to-react. The writing itself is less impressive than other reviews implied. I understand that cliches exist and survive because they work, and yet I feel let down. That being said, the story is unfinished. There's 3rd person narration, but written entirely from the protagonist's perspective. I wonder if "inner thoughts" instead of this switch-up would've made it less jarring. A lack of spellcheck also seems to have been part of current implementation cycle - "Back in Blackridge Naomi Just got her first bit of Corruption." is a sputtery sentence to read, especially if directly followed by "Remember, The two stats are not always opposing!". That's polish.

Really what interested me with this game is the promise of a decent story. Unlike most games here, this one actually had a promising plot. The protagonists are on the back foot for most of the game and the antagonists actually have plans. There is victories, defeats, and character development, although it is mostly just the girl getting more corrupt.

Love the art style! Really promising start for a new game. Really liked all the characters introduced so far. Tons of AI slop out right now so this is a nice surprise. Will be keeping track of this one and hoping for timely updates form the dev.
