Sometime after Rance 5D... Broke as ever, Rance scrambles for odd jobs to stay afloat and ends up in the Magic Kingdom of Zeth for work. Rance is usually seen with his slave magician Sill in tow. However, in this realm of magic, the tables are turned. As a non-magician, Rance suffers from discrimination, while Sill enjoys a VIP status. Before long, Rance winds up behind bars. Beneath its facade of wealth and peace, Zeth is a kingdom where magicians rule with an iron fist, and those without magic face relentless oppression. Fed up with his own misfortunes, Rance joins the resistance, ready to flip the oppressive regime. With a facade of freeing the nation's people, Rance dives into a whirlwind of an adventure: he dishes out comeuppance to wicked magicians, rallies a band of girls to join his cause, and builds a harem, all while living it up on his quest for justice...

The game in the Rance franchise which made me say "Ok, I get how this franchise has been around for 3 decades" I played 01, 02, 3, 4, 4.1 and 4.2 before this one. While 03 in particular had it's moments, my attachment to the series remained lukewarm. Not BAD games by any margin, I just didn't get why they were THAT big of a deal. What kept me going was my general investment into the world and characters, and tales of the quality of the later games. And then I got to 6, and it was all worth it. Because at this point, the cast is full of regular and beloved faces, and the world is well-established enough that you can just have fun in it. Rance 6 presents a suprisingly well-thought out world, political conflict and multi-layered cast of characters, with much presented levity provided by it's simpleminded and refreshingly forward main protagonist. Rance is a major idiot, and it works well for the plot as his actions have great and grave effects everywhere he goes. Exploration is fun, and the gameplay always gets switched up enough from Rance game to Rance game that I never seem to get tired of the franchise, despite being 8 games in by now. Shizuka is great, Sill is great, Patton is great, Rocky is fun as hell. The side character really shines in this one. Had some frustrations with dumb game designs with unfairly hard bosses waited at random points in easy dungeons, costing me solid 30 minutes of progression at times. But it's not world ending. A solid game. 5/5. I get the hype by now, and look forward to trying Sengoku Rance.

3/5 TLDR Mediocre H-scenes and tedious exploration. In details Average Rance H-scenes, which is not good. Tedious Exploration where each fighter can only fight for 10-16 times before escaping to the base. Not only this but typycal JRPG roadblocks requiring to visit specific tiles on the map in the right order while going back and forth from the map to the base. And you have to do that 10-20 times per map while fighting random encounters. It's just terrible game design. A shame, the combat is alright otherwise.

This game is the best entry for newcomer in the Rance Serie If you don't ejoy your time in Rance VI, it is extremely likely you won't with the franchise as a whole. What kind of game it is ? It's a Classic Dungeon Crawler RPG experience with VN elements. You fight your way out on multiple maps with a team you put up before going out your base. At first, you'll have a small cast of characters, but sooner than later, you'll have a huge group at your disposal and be able to mix and match your team to best suit your gamestyle or your fantasy. You have warriors, mages, healers, rogues, and some weird classes here and there. Nearly each character is unique and has its own set of skills. You also have gears to equip and items to use. Maps can be very simple, like go from point A to point B, or be incredibly long maze with multiples events everywhere that you can't clear in one run. The game is as difficult as you want it to be. You can redo all maps as much as you want, so you can grind experience indefinitely, and some maps are designed for that purpose. Either you want an hardcore experience and run all maps as few as you can, or you just grind your way and brute force everything. You do you. Everyone speak about "lore" with this damn franchise, what's the deal? This is personal opinion, but before being games or fap material, the Rance Franchise is above all else... "an experience". You'll often hear people say "I went there to fap 'cos I like AliceSoft Art", to "I stayed for the gameplay" and then "I played the prequels and sequels, the lore is amazing". Rance Serie did something nearly none other recent hentai games, or even regular games achieved: create a coherent World. The World where Rance lives is ridiculous, with monsters, fiends, "elves", religious fanatics, gods and angels, aswell as "level cap" for when someone is born. Yep, they're all aware of their level cap and level cap is often what dictate if you'll be successful or not in life, because the cap can't (usually) be changed. They're basically living in a video game, and the beauty of it, is that everything makes sense when you start digging: The Demon King System, the Hero System, why the Gods made it that way, why X is at war with Y, Why this girl wants to be clapped in publ...wait, what? Rance Worldbuildling is decade old, and most importantly, made of love. And you feel it the more you're digging in. All characters are here for a reason, all have their stories, own events, and a goal to achieve that make sense instead of being chunk of flesh to fuck. Ok, seems like a great franchise, like FF or DQ but... I'm there to fap man. And I hear you Brother. And you shall receive !!.... At some point. Usually in Rance, the porn serves the plot, and not the opposite. That means that if you want to fap, you'll have to "deserve it" and progress through the game, and some H-scene are even "hidden", like treasure you're hunting desperatly. If you want fast fap, Rance Serie isn't the way, isn't the place. You won't have a lot of scenes, but when they drop... You'll either spray out in bliss, or... laugh so hard you'll lose your hard-on, but in a good way lol. Some H-scene are extremely hot and sexy, and some are... fun. Yes, fun, ranging from a smirk or a smile to a full on laughter you won't be able to stop for a few minutes. You'll also have in rare occurences, very gruesome experience, where you'll lose your boner and feel bad... But that's also part of the experience. That's the "Rance Experience". You want to fap, but instead, you're offered a full blown journey into an adventure you will never forget, if you give it the chance to lead you into its world. I love Rance, it's my favourite H-Game Serie of all time, my opinion is biaised, and I fully embrace it. "Haiiyyaaaaa !!" TLDR, IDGAF about ur essay nerd -Fantastic World to explore. -Fappable characters, tons of sexy girls. -Ultra Chad Based Main Protagonist. -You'll Laugh, Cum and Cry, in that order. -Very Good Dungeon Crawler RPG -Tons of Fetishes, but few CG for each. -Not a Nukige, go away if you want fast fap -Gahahaha -Haiyaaa -If you start now and finish all games, maybe in 2-3 yeras Rance X will be translated and you'll have the BEST FINALE of your life, period.

If Sengoku Rance was the game that got me introduced into the series, Rance VI is the game that got me introduced to the lore. This game would be most people's first introduction into the overarching lore and setting of the game, as Sengoku Rance is pretty isolated. It plays like your typical turn-based tactics RPG game with porn scenes sprinkled in, but the characters, setting, and lore is what really grabs your attention. Especially the beginning. I would say that this is the game most people would check out after Sengoku Rance, as there is definitely a huge difference in quality between Rance 1-4 and Rance 5-10 (which if you didn't know already, Kichikuou Rance is at the center of that split, but that's a different topic). After beating Rance VI, I got really hooked into the world of Rance and began sinking my time into the rest of the games. Hopefully you will too. Welcome to The Continent.
