You wake with a start as the ship rocks violently, your hammock swinging hard and slamming against the bulkhead. A deep, resonant boom reverberates through the hull, shaking the timbers. You hear shouts and running footsteps above. You yank on your shirt and shove your feet into your boots before scrambling topside. Chaos greets you. The Captain stands at the helm, her muscular arms gripping the wheel. A massive shape looms above, blotting out the morning light with its enormous shadow. A kraken.

A game that emphasizes the Novel in Visual Novel. Very nicely written and worded dialogue and narration. The author manages to make each character feel unique not only visually but especially with distinctive and consistent mannerisms, speech patterns and behaviourism. He manages this without these being overwhelming, distracting or annoying. He doesn't shy away from stereotypes (elf with a bow, dwarf with a hammer), but also manages to subvert them, Spoiler like how the elf doesn't stay on the sidelines of the crew and stoic because she thinks she is better than lower races, instead she keeps her distance because she fears with her higher life expectancy if she would be too close to people with a shorter one their demise and her accompanied sorrow would be too much to bear for her for so long just to name one as an example. The story is still in its infancy, spanning less than a handful of days so far, flowing organically without rush and without needing to loredump the player to understand it and feel for and with the characters. Beautifully crafted and charming story so far, I'll eagerly wait for more.
