A good start, but it still needs a lot of work. The game is certainly more focused than the previous one and centers on just two women. That has its downsides—much less chicks to bang—but also its upsides: the story will move along faster. Both girls in the game seems interesting.

It’s a great game; I really love the atmosphere and the soundtrack—it makes the experience so enjoyable. It’s one of those games where you don’t just skip ahead to see what happens next, but instead take the time to check out every single detail. Great Vibe

So far I have only played version 0.2 of the game and I think it has a good projection, I look forward to continuing with the story and developing the characters appropriately, for now the characters are quite sexy

Stunning Renders, But the MC is such a SIMP it literally turns my stomach. The hotty moves in with him. he should be escalating the first night. She is walking around showing everting off. In a situation like that if you don't make a move you are friend-zoning yourself. Seriously. no girl respects a guy like that.. even if they were attracted to them in the first place. His lack of balls to "go for it" converts in into a resource for her.

Main takeaway: Lewdlab abandoned the genre that he was known for and the game is generic slop as a result. As other reviewers have already noted - it falls into a common AVN pattern of inserting explicit scenes in moments where they feel forced and out of place. MC is indeed a massive simp. Story is bland and sandbox gameplay continues to be an unnecessary waste of time.

Writing is decent, structured and reads well, simple and easy to understand intent. Animations are actually not bad at all, but could do with more angles and variety. I am not a fan of many of the female characters bodies, specifically the face of Daniela, and the body, skin textures are too "ripped" doesn't have the soft womanly look, they look hard and too toned. This is not a deal breaker though. Some plot points like Daniela trying to get rid of Hector, feels thin, too obvious that I find it hard to believe and it just feels flimsy. Lack of lewd audio is a bit disappointing TBH. MC plays it safe often and is kinda boring in that regard, but its not a deal breaker. Some porn logic in how certain events turn out, but its also not all the time so its tolerable. The skipping of mini games that penalizes the player is a bad feature, it should be voluntary for those who like minigames. The Sandbox system is annoying as fuck, that much of the content is locked behind right place, right time, right conditions before actual progression and new content is unlocked is just stupid. OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS: NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't) As mentioned, Daniela has a odd look, her face has a odd elongated almost primate look from the side profile, from the front she is fine, but she is not attractive, her body is, as are most female characters. The other thing is, and while I appreciate the detail of a not totally smooth photoshopped body texture, I do find the female characters seem "ripped" too lean, with bulging uneven textures and not that smooth natural roundness that makes the woman feel more soft, the "hard" bodies works for men IMO not that much woman (unless you into fitness junky types that are just so lean there is not a soft part on their bodies) NOTE: This is a little bit of a catch 22, on one hand the texture effect looks much more realistic, on the other it also starts leaning too much into how people do look and the "fantasy" of AVN characters starts to diminish a little, because the characters don't look "perfect" I hope I am making sense here. Its not really a big deal, but I am still not a fan of Daniela side profile nor of that "extra lean" look of someone who is severely dehydrated. SUMMARY (TLDR) : Not bad, but wont appeal to everyone, especially with some characters that look like fitness gym bunnies and have strange proportions, not horrible, but really can't be called beautiful. Some plot sticking points for me, but other than its pretty decent. The UI/UX is actually praiseworthy and many devs can take a page out of the book here IMO. I am not a fan at all of the sandbox system, which stops progression and the player must wait days before events can continue, stupid and waste of time. Other than that. its a decent quality product, but again, wont appeal to everyone...

The models have excellent detail, and the interface is simple and intuitive. I hope the project develops well and quickly, and doesn’t end up abandoned like so many others. The peeking feature is really cool — I hope it will be implemented for all female characters.

So, version 0.2.. I skipped the initial 0.1 since it seemed to be a 'game' that stepped away from a particular tag the dev' had in his previous 'games'. (as I call it: "family fun"). And the previews didnt sell it to me either. So I simply skipped out on the initial release, figuring that I'll just skip this game completely. But here we are, 0.2 and I decided to give it a chance despite it looking and sounding...rather..plain and boring. And in short, yes, it is basically what I suspected from the beginning. A boring, plain and "what's the point here" kinda VN. I've enjoyed the dev's previous works. Latest, "MP" for example was somewhat interesting. But for me personally it started to feel a bit 'is this ending anytime soon?' to me. In other words, I felt it started to ..drag. Like it had a few updates too many. But as someone else said, at least this is a developer that finishes the stuff he starts. Unlike SO many other devs. But unlike that same person, I'm not gonna slap on a FIVE star on this VN simply because I'm fond of the dev and that this might be a good game 'in the future'. We're here now, I dont do speculation, at least not in reviews. What we have now is...well not fun. Renders are good enough, as you expect. But there's really not much to say here other than , if you've played MP, its almost the same here. Minus the 'taboo' stuff (only thing that kept MP relevant in the end for me). You have the sandbox/free-roam timewaster just as in MP. Where you have different parts of the 'house' (apartment in this case) to go to. A journal that tells you what and when to do something. Which is a PLUS though, hate sandbox games that doesnt even give you a clue. At least this one tells you exactly what, when, who, and how. But at the end of the day, this is a REALLY BORING VN. I'm surprised to see a few 5-star reviews for this sleeping pill. Maybe I had too high expectations? I mean this VN somehow (boggles my mind) got a couple of FIVE stars slapped onto it by certain individuals. Wish people would justify why they give a 5(or 1) star. But no, I did not go into this with any expectations other than "I dont think I'll like this as much as MP and previous projects from thsi dev". Again because of the images I've seen and the 'story'. But I got thru it, seen all the currently available content. And I truly do wish I invested that time into something else. ANYTHING else. Like paint my walls, and watch the paint dry for example, THAT would've been a better investment of my time. I got nothing against the game nor the dev. But this VN is...frankly not good. But yes yes, it's still 'early' it could become a gem in 50 updates from now. Maybe? Who tf knows. Am I supposed to give it a 5-star because I think and *hope* 2-3 years from now it will be good? Get real. The characters are alright. No one is particularly 'ugly'. But no one is really hot or attractive either. But I dont want to spend too much time talking about the ladies' appearances, because it's a matter of taste. Someone will find Daniela megahot. Someone will find her ugly. And me, I couldn't care less. Nothing special about her what. so. ever. Just like EVERYTHING else in this VN, there is literally nothing special in this VN. There's a lewd scene, with none of the 2 'main girls' btw. Might be spoiler but who cares, only girl that gets dicked by the MC is the fkn pizza delivery girl. From "Pizza Slut"... oh haha, am I supposed to laugh at this witty name? Come on, who would realisticaly name their pizza place "Pizza Slut" ? And on top of that, have delivery girls that are basically sluts/prostitutes/whores/whatever. If it wasn't for the pizza girl, all the MC will have managed in these two updates/versions (so far) of the game, is get a quick peek at 2 sets of boobs, and upskirt of someone without panties. There really isn't anything 'hot' here. So if you're here for a wank to some pretty girls. Just move on, this aint it. Here for the story and couldn't care less about the lewd stuff? Same answer, move on. Because seriously, what f-kn story? Early parts of the 'game' as MC, we wake up, watch hin brush his teeth, go to work where Daniela works too, go home, sits on the sofa, thinks to himself. Goes to bed. Wakes up, repeat same shit again. Difference this time is that this time he fucks up an order for a customer. Oh noes...i . dont. care. Go home, sit on sofa. Go to bed. Wake up, brush teeth, go to work. Mess up an order again. Go home. Order pizza, get introduced to the pizza slut..uhm..pizza girl from Pizza Slut. Later on something happens to Daniela's home, so she gets to live with the MC now. Well isn't that fkn convenient for the 'story'. Somehow life goes on for the neighbors despite what happened (trying to avoid spoiling everything, but seriously, you aint missing out on anything) Then we have the Milf who we got introduced to at the very intro. Nothing special about her either, dresses skimpy, is a milf, and looks..."ok", your milage may vary. Nothing special about her. Nothing special about Daniela. Nothing special about the MC, just another horndog that peeps on his neighbor hoping to see something 'fun'.. Nothing special about the story. Not even sure if the story has started yet, because I sure as hell can't tell you what it's about. It's literally just playing as MC, move around in the apartment or go to work. Which triggers a minigame, that we thankfully can skip (but with reduced reward/wages, worth it! bc fuck minigames in an AVN) so we can earn money, which we currently mainly only spend on ordering pizza so we can have fun with the pizza girl (yawn) Truth be told, this is almost a 2-star in my book. But it's not a BAD VN per say. It's just extremely boring. Somewhat 'pretty', even though none of the ladies really feel 'hot' (imo). But I didnt run into any bugs or anything. Everything is clear and clean. What to do and when to do it is literally spelled out for you in the journal. But just like every other sandbox bullcrap, you trigger the event, and then it says "wait X days"... aka "let's drag it out so it looks like there's more content then there really is". In my humble opinion, this is the WORST (as of now) VN from this dev. The others had sh-t going for them, or at least a story and one or two interesting characters. This has...nothing. I'm not gonna rate this higher just because it MIGHT get better in a couple of years. BUT if it does get better - or worse, I will edit this review. As I always strive to update my reviews down the line. Unless the game is SO bad that I just can't bother ever playing it again. This one I might try again in a year. Definitely not a VN I'm gonna jump on anytime soon again. Currently, it's a Waste of Time - and very close to a 2-star.

Graphics on high level, as usual for Lewdlab and story setup is interesting! The women look good, not bimbo body proportions like so many other games but still very sexy. The mini game at the fast food place is also fun Looking forward to see how this develops

Because of the developers previous work, I am disappointed by the lack of taboo and spicy plot. The renders are good but the models are ugly. Furthermore, the plot itself is not interesting. Hopefully, more characters will come in the future, but as of now, I am not interested in this game what so ever.

Extremely promising start. I don't think it's at all a cliche story so far. The two main LL interests are hot as fuck. It's the best new Avn I've played this year. Cannot wait for more. In the short term I would expect the score to remain low as the new game critics spam reviews (as it always goes) but by 0.5 or so we are going to have a very quality game. In terms of an amazing building block for a story that can take any turns it wants with an update. It is as promising a game you can find on f95 currently.

At best, Sunset Rose is average. Lewdlab is probably going to get the nostalgia crowd behind this, but what I played wasn't anything close to a 5-star effort. It would really be great if there were some sort of change to the review system on this forum. Far too many projects are rated with bias, and it doesn't help the AVN community's growth at all. It would be great if the "respected users" here led by example as well, versus focusing on generating memes for farming cheap likes. Sunset Rose opens up with one of the more cliché storylines that we all know and love, right? The cheating husband who neglects his smoking hot wife. This appears to be one of the main Li's in the story, the classic oversexed milf. Next, there's Daniela, whose apartment burns down and practically moves in with the MC, only to come off as highly inconsiderate as well as ungrateful. She became annoying to me fast. The MC started off well, but then things took a nosedive. He seemed well-balanced, but quickly became a pushover. Vaginal Sex is a requirement, apparently, these days, as some don't bother to try a new project without it. Because of this, I feel that Devs tend to cater to this crowd by enforcing cheap, random, lackluster sex scenes. Which is basically what the whole Pizza Girl scene accomplished for me. The story went from a visual novel to a sandbox style, a standard for this Dev. Wasn't much to do other than skip time to progress. The minigame was annoying, but it can still be salvaged as it gives you the restaurant worker's feel. The art and models are the selling point for Lewdlab, but the story so far is pretty average.

I liked the game in general, the characters are very beautiful and unique, each character has its own personality, and the music in the game is very pleasant, but I would have liked to have a bit more pleasant music. I also enjoyed reading the story, and I feel that the game has a good atmosphere, just like all the games in the first part. I am looking forward to what the game will be like in the future, and I wish the author success with the game.

The game has three animations at the start with a delivery girl. And they only indirectly touch on vaginal movements... It's very hard to see. The camera angles aren't the best, although there's a photo on the wall that references Midnight Paradise—this game doesn't come close to the camera angles of Midnight Paradise (a fantastic game). Yes, there are beautiful models, and yes, there's a sandbox, but there are too many inserts, which is annoying. The models are beautiful, a cut above those in Midnight Paradise, but this is just the beginning. There are almost no sex animations. The camera angles are front, side, and rear (top down). There are no penetration animations. This is more of an erotic game than a porn game. Only fans of the developer themselves can give it a 5 out of 5. The game is too raw to warrant such a high rating, given its shortcomings. And no, I'm not judging the story; I'm not reading a newspaper. And I'm not judging the mechanics or the sandbox, which has a few buttons and isn't particularly user-friendly, unlike, say, Midnight Paradise, where everything is spot-on.

In general, this game tries to do things right—the beginning is great and the graphics are impressive—but the plot fails to hold up over time. It suffers from the classic AVN trope of forcing explicit content into scenes where it feels completely out of place. It’s frustrating because creating tension is easy, yet the developer chose the lazy route with pointless scenes. The story eventually spirals into a typical cliché where the MC hooks up with half the world, making it just another forgettable title.

Despite the long wait, it really wasn't worth it. The content is very good and the story is very well-constructed, but I found it too short for such a long wait. They haven't released a game since last year, plus the hiatus, plus the delays. They ended up making one of the best games and have now set the bar very high for this installment. I liked it, but I repeat, there's very little content for such a long wait.
