About Tales of Onyx

Tales of Onyx is a Ren'Py visual novel by Charos Villacho, presented with 2D computer graphics. You play a male protagonist who awakens on a strange planet with no memories and anxiety attacks. Onyx, the God of Creation, loves the world he found, while Opal, the God of Destruction, tries to ruin it. Onyx created guardians to protect civilizations, but the Trio of Guardians vanished for centuries. Your choices can mean life or death, and rebuilding bonds with others helps you grow stronger and decide whether the world survives or falls. The game features furry characters and gay relationships.

Development is ongoing, and the current public build is v2.8, released May 11, 2023. It runs on Windows, Linux, Mac, and Android, in English, with no censorship. The update adds Chapter Eleven, starting the Arc of Decomphi and ending the Arc of Lavendas. It shows playthrough results, so players can strengthen relationships before moving on for better outcomes. It also removes odd electronica-trance-like music from most of the visual novel, except the Fox Den, and includes minor storyline and bug fixes. A Patreon note mentions Chapter Thirteen in version 3.0, where the protagonist confronts Onyx and learns more about the planet.

Developer's description

Story: The God of Creation, Onyx, created the universe and fell in love with the planet he discovered among the stars. For someone as benevolent as Onyx, there will always be someone who is malevolent as well. The God of Destruction, Opal, became envious of Onyx's fondness with his precious star system out of all other star systems across the cosmos. In hopes of preventing Opal's methodical attacks, Onyx created the Trio of Guardians to restore the balance and order of the universe. Of course, Opal always find the way to cause chaos upon the planet. Beneath the Trio of Guardians, he created countless of minor Guardians to repel Opal's manipulation toward civilizations of the planet. Despite their efforts against Opal, the Trio of Guardians were forced to disappear for centuries until then.. You set out on a path to the future of your strange planet despite having no memories and anxiety attacks. Your own choices will hang in balance of life and death. Rebuild your bonds with everyone that surrounds you in order to grow stronger, and they will too. Only you can save the world, or lead them to their demise.

2.8 Chapter Eleven (Public Version 2.8) - Now released to the public! Arc of Decomphi begins, and Arc of Lavendas ends. This is where you get to see your results of this certain play-through, if you're not satisfied- try getting closer to the ones around you to get that optimal results before moving forward! Changelog: - The "odd, electronica-trance-like" choice of music tracks used are now eliminated from the entire VN. With exception for the Fox Den, that music track used for these scenes will remain. - General, minor fixes to the storyline/bugs. Chapter Thirteen (Patreon Version 3.0) - Upon your confrontation with the God of Creation himself, how would you navigate through this situation and learning the truth about your home planet?
