The Nighrest

There's lots to like about this game. Models are pretty, arts gorgeous, story is interesting. My sole complaint really is that I ABHOR the name Nighrest. My brain inherently wants to add a T in there: "Nightrest".

Peak horror story, came for the girls got hooked with the horror, mystery and story lol. No nsfw scenes but the story is so damn good man as if nsfw will ruin the storytelling. Lolz saying this in a corn site but yeah like what I said came 4 girls got trapped in the story, it's just that good

I love this project. From the story to character to visuals everything slaps (in a good way). Patreon subscription has some issue in may country but if dev decides to release it on stream. I will grab it like a flash. All the best to dev.

What a masterpiece! A great horror mystery that immersed me from the get-go. I must say, the sound and ambience are the real standouts. The sound design used here is among the best AVNs I’ve played. If I had to give examples of AVNs to learn sound usage for creating immersion, this would feature among my top recommendations. The LIs are beautiful and varied, which I really liked. There are also diverse male characters, and they all play their part, making this so enjoyable to play. The MC is quite a nice change of pace as well, a doctor who is neither overly alpha in everything nor a wimp, but someone with morals that align well with his profession. I’m very interested to find out what happens next. Best of luck, dev!

The game opens with an interesting scene then immediately goes into the terrible writing with sadsack mc being a pathetic simp but all the time with the delusion of being 'macho' Every other male character has to eb cariacature-level asshole in order to try and make mc look good, which fails. He throws tantrums and supposedly that makes the terribly written women fawn. The women are so-so. A couple look good, the rest just look like your mum's friends. The renders are blown out in a lot of bright outdoor scenes too, which ruins skin The UI is meh, an annoying main menu hiding options until hover and slow unskippable transitions. I've seen worse games, but having to play as this MC who comes across as imagined by an insecure 12 year old ruins any potential

Why a masterpiece like this one deserves below 4* like that? PROS: + STORY: Very well writing, 10/10, no word I could describe right now! + VISUAL: Girls are gorgeous and unique (don't understand 1 review said they were all the same), good visual environment, world-building too. + UI: Very good too. CONS: Really? Non-segg atm deserves just 3*? All we need in this decade is a good writer with imagination, seggs should be treated as ingredients for game, not the main dish. Do not listen anyone judging without seggs, game such. Listen to your heart and enjoy this masterpiece! Best thrilling experience I've ever seen!

The story is so exciting, developed like a mysterious thriller. Great pictures... waiting for more! Although there is no sex yet, let's expect some surprises. I hope, the story will continue very soon!

V EP.2 i do wish these fences were less 'spiky' topped because sitting on them is a pain in the arse. first off, it is tagged as a VN, yet it has QTE's which turn it from a VN into a game. add in the fact that there is zero sex between MC and Family, the incest tag is just as bullshit. i really hate false advertising. why does this site even have a search function by tag if the staff ignore it? visually this is pretty good. can't really say much, not the best but way above average. it is delivering a plot that holds intrigue, for me at least. still early days and may turn into a crowd pleaser like g.o.t or stranger things did and shoot itself in the foot. i hope not, but becoming less jaded is not as easy as just becoming. there are plot flaws already though. the MC is a young doctor who rides a motorcycle down the middle of a road that has poor lighting at night, because a doctors mindset is ALWAYS to risk their health for no reason right? he even walks away from multiple disasters to offer no assistance or treat wounded. it's almost like the writer forgets what the MC is supposed to be!! still, we DO know that the MC is also a ninja as he rides a ninja motorcycle that makes zero noise so he can pass people on the roadside completely unheard or unseen, turn around, dismount and sneak up behind someone and kick them in the right side of their neck and bruise the left side instead. the skill to pull THAT off? fucking amazing....or the writer again. they were even helped by the artist during the lineup to create that plot hole....my bet is on 'ninja' as sentences like "and you know damn well this is my kind of cases, yuna" is totally a legitimate sentence and NOT a sign the writer is distracted at all...no idea why you even thought so... so again, on the fence with this one as it sits in my 'will try if i see it update but not looking for it' pile.

Short summary: This is a promising start. For now there is not much content, but creator managed to craft an interesting horror story and an excellent atmosphere for it. Though how well he can deliver on it is a question, since writing is pretty bad, especially outside of the horror segments. 09/01/2024 __ EP 01 It's like the dev said, there is no +18 content and it doesn't even seem like there will be, the mc shows no signs that he wants to get involved with any girl, even when his mother asks this, the mc makes it clear... personal opinion here... I don't really understand why some devs have this no-sex policy on f95... However, the game has extreme quality even in its initial stages, I must say that the terror he put into the game has a lot of quality, really got me into the horror mood, and what kept me going was exactly that, as what kept me in the game changed from "girls" to "horror". If he focuses on this it will be perfect, but as it is at the very beginning of development there is not much to say beyond that. just that the rendering is of good quality and so is the ambience.

Audio, normally I never play these VNs or such with audio on but this game does do it very nicely but also not in an invasive or annoying manner. It fits well into the story and helps create the eerie undertones. Writing is good, structured and reads well. No dialogue bloat and annoying, pointless text to burn through. Story is so far intriguing, its not ground breaking in any sense of the word and we can guess what the overarching story would be probably but its interesting and this is something very few adult VNs do imo. Atmosphere is captured well, the lighting, effects, sounds and dialogue fit well to drive the suspense and emotion . Playtime is fairly decent with Ep.2 but NOT enough to justify 2 years of no updates. CONS: - See my opinions section for details. Very short, hardly any content here. Since its the first release the jury is out on how many updates we can expect, when and how much content there will be in those updates. Updated but really not 2 years of content here... Story has too many plot holes and stinks of swiss cheese. Simply too much improbable bullshit, small island, wooden jetty is a dock now? Place has its own swat team? Eiffel tower as radio tower, being on an island but there are no satphones? Its a modern title so im sure they use LEO satellites for internet, and so much other nonsense that really kills the potential from the eerie and sinister scary stuff that's going on...SHAME Per point above about the plot, it started off interesting and spooky, an AVN that actually did that well, now its getting all messed up in weird ass cults and conspiracies. Weird ass chicks with old ball and chain trying to drown herself and just stupid nonsensical bullshit left and right like the writer was vomiting out script while stoned blind...really... UI/UX can use some work, the main screen should have the words of the options always displayed, as is the player must hover over each picture to see what each does. Dialogue box options like opacity and font size/type settings are a nice extra. Some scenes are just over the top and nonsensical, like the cruise-liner ship and size of the moon and stars.... Music and ambient sounds should not be connected to same volume adjuster. NOT A SINGLE LEWD SCENE, NOTHING NSFW HERE AT ALL. Thats kinda an achievement... VERY slow development time of this AVN OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS: NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't) Not just fap material, the game seems to have more going for it and the first episodes sets the stage (somewhat) The cruise-liner ship, docked at the water edge on wooden jetty, that is impossible. The moon thats so close its on a collision course with earth and the stars are like incoming meteors...please don't do this shit, it breaks immersion and the closer you get to reality, the more immersive it becomes. Doing this shit destroys that. This AVN for some reason (and I care little for what goes on anywhere other than this forum), has not been updated since Jan 2024, you talking 2 years for an episode. At this point, I will suggest anyone supporting this developer to hold back until they drop a few more chapters or the dev can sell what they have on steam where players can buy the game, but supporting month after month blindly to this AVN, not recommended. As things progress you notice a lot of bullshit start creeping into the mix, its one thing to have weird mystery tied into paranormal but when the communications radio is the Eiffel tower then my WTF meter goes into the red. This is simply laziness on the devs side, at this point a wooden pole would have been more believable...ffs. TLDR: Overall a decent AVN, visuals and audio are things that stand out as quite good. Sadly visuals are also of the bigger issues with illogical and impossible settings that kill immersion. The major issue is that this AVN has a very poor record of updates and it may be another 2 years before we see a new chapter...

(5/5)Plot - One of the strongest plot that you can find in the AVN now. Really intriguing and Chez guns are pleced in the right spots of the story. So even from the first episode you will get a lot of mysteries, question, interesting encounters and chemestry between characters. (5/5)Music - Very and very good. Appear when it's nessesary and the most important it's higly connected to the story. So when you need suspence there will be this music. and when you need to relax the music will be right away. (4/5)Background Rendres - Not the strongest part of the game but that doesn't mean that they are bad. Nothing like this. Just if we compare very good plot and music the redners is 1 point behind. (4.5/5)Сharater renders - I think if this game will continue and have big audiance Haze and Tina will be in the top of the most beatufil chracters in the games. They are realy gorgeous. Especialy Haze. Poppy, Jecky and Heazer and looking good to but no compare to previous one. Kat is just ok(i think it can be some interesting story behind her. Because if he will be just a whore then she will be the most boring character) (3.5/5) UI/UX - 1. Let's start from the pros - realy nice dialogue choices that doesnt overlap any important info and are well suited to the game's gamut 2. Nice detection when(the chacter will remember it(let's just hope the chracter "will remember it") 3. And there is only one cons(maybe only for me) - we are reading from left to the right(people itself) and it's uncomfortably to see the load on left and new game on the right. And it's wiered that exit button is located on the center of the screen(it will be better to remove it in the right bottom corner). That's how it can look better and easier to navigate (4/5) Bugs - There is only one bug that is already mentioned(when you speak with your friend his text is skiped to quickly) Summary - It's very decent project and i hope that the developer will continue to make this game. (i can even suggest that this game now can be release in steam as demo version to gain an audience but it will be dev decission)

As of Ep.1 - this is a story with typical horror slasher vibes and setup: some secluded island, some sudden disappearances and paranormal mysteries around these and some ominous female 'entity' called "The Nighrest". While visually appealing , technically quite solid and decent ly delivering the fitting mood & atmosphere with music and sounds, this story has one huge issue: the writing . Writing falls flat and is sometimes clumsy and wooden as hell, as are conversations between characters. In addition, it desperately needs a proofread for interpunction, spelling and proper use of words. I've certainly read worse (socalled 'Engrish'), but it harms the whole story substantially and disturbs immersion nevertheless. - No good story-driven AVN without the proper writing skills ! - should be a common rules for all VNs that attempt to build up on story instead of porn. Even more as long as the dev isn't sure about including lewds yet. And tbh the whole story setup here isn't that special, creative or inventive at all to be an exception. Visuals - even decent or great renders - only support to a well-written story, they don't create a good story by themselves. Neither do attractive character renders. That's why this AVN is only 2.5 STARS as of now for me. Due to the current lack in writing and complete absence of nudes/lewds it's not worth any positive recommendation... may that change in the future for the better!
