The Survival of Sarah Rose is an epic-fantasy erotic visual novel, following the life of the eldest daughter of the royal Rose family. When tragedy strikes, Sarah finds her once safe and stable life thrown into chaos. Playing as Sarah, you must make the decisions that will keep her safe (or not) in a world where danger is everywhere. TSSR features both an impactful choice system that sees radically different storylines depending on player choices, as well as features a meta-story that rewards players exploring every available path. Will Sarah fall deeper into despair or will she survive the many challenges ahead?

v0.70
Those of you who've followed the game for a while might be surprised at the version number, but don't worry, this is the latest and newest version of TSSR. I've simply decided to flatten/simplify the sequential version numbers.
Instead, the version # now reflects my (best attempt) at showing the total game's progress towards a full release, which right now, I feel is about 70% of the way there (lot of work left to go, though).
Content for v0.70
Version v0.70 includes a total of 62 new art pieces. These pieces are aimed at bringing the Tribes-storyline up to the quality of the rest of the game. It doesn't complete the make-over, but does get the storyline a long way there.
The rest of the Tribes-storyline will receive another update later this year, where the whole storyline is finished, as well as the remainder of the art is updated to complete the entire arc, closing out what I've called one of the medium-sized-storylines.
My goal for the Tribes-storyline has always been to explore what defeat looks like. A lot of games/stories show a short defeat screen or a few lines. In TSSR, instead, my hope was to really explore what defeat means, and let the player really explore the full scope of the consequences of their choices.
For those who have never played this storyline before; simply make the following choices:
Start > Stay with Thomas > Make all the bad decisions in preparing for the war with the Tribes.
Significant variations in the story can play out, depending on if you spare the Emmisary or not.
v0.9.9.9
This new update is aimed at expanding and resolving one of the minor-branch stories, specifically the "Hyral mountain" storyline.
This is the storyline that plays out when Sarah joins captain Belmont, but then betrays him and sides with Nick. For players familiar with the storyline, they can continue where they were, for others the path to playing that storyline goes something like:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Sleep with Belmont > Join Mercenaries > Fail training > Join Belmont > Side with Nick.
I think I'll also work on adding an easier route to get to this story in the future, but for now this is how you unlock it.
The total story comes out to around 20k words and adds about 45 new art pieces to the game.
v0.8.9.9
As promised, right on the date, the new update for TSSR! Patch 8.9.9 brings along a whole new expansion to the Warrior-storyline, and quite a chunky one at that. The update has around a 100 new cg's, about 70k words of story, branching paths, and numerous erotic encounters, and moves the plot along quite a bit.
Content for v8.9.9
How to get to the content
The new story picks up right where the Warrior-storyline ended up, so players should be able to continue from where they last stopped. It offers variations, depending on previous choices, for having relations with characters such as Kate, Samayra, Razaphel and Atilla.
The biggest chunk of the story is split into two branches that converge back on the same end-point, but can each be enjoyed for players looking to experience every option.
v0.7.9.9
So, as I mentioned in a previous post, this month's update will focus on the "Gallow's Creek" storyline. This is a mostly self-contained side-branch, one of the "small storylines" as I like to call them.
As part of my goal to bring the game closer to v1.0, it's not just wrapping up the main storylines, but it's also about wrapping up a few/most of these smaller side-branches.
This particular storyline tells the story of what happens if Sarah abandons her quest on the Old Road, and decides to live in the small rural community of Gallow's Creek.
Also important, the art for this update was made by a different artist, so while it is still an Anime-aesthetic, it will be different from the usual style. This was done intentionally to give the main artist more time to work on the next update, seeing as this storyline is less important.
As always, the eventual goal will be to re-work the entire game into one uniform style, so these pieces will be re-worked in the future, but serve as pretty decent baseline for now.
How to get to the content
In order to get to this content, you have to simply:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Refuse to join the Mercenaries > Leave Lethram > Go to Gallow's Creek when the option is offered.
v0.6.9.9
So, this update expands on and actually wraps up the Sailor-storyline, heavily featuring Captain Belmont and brings the story to a conclusion.
This update is part of my goal to try and wrap up a few of the smaller story-branches this year, while I put the finishing touches on the script for the three main storylines. The update combines some re-works on the art for the existing storyline, while also expanding the story itself at what was previously the end point. Players can now experience the full story from start to finish!
There will be another update for the storyline at a later date, but that will be to bring the entire art-work for the storyline into one single cohesive style.
How to get to the content
So, to get to the Sailor path you simple:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Sleep with the Captain (any variation should work) > Join the Mercenaries > Take the Captain's bet
This puts you on the definitive Sailor-storyline and from there you pretty much follow it as you did before, leading you all the way to the final chapter of the story!
v0.5.9.9
So, as I've mentioned before, this new release expands on the Princess-storyline. It contains both a lot of new story, a lot of new erotic encounters, with both familiar characters and new characters, while also featuring one of the more complex choice/consequence systems, compared to previous storylines.
How to get to the content
(Important, because of how updates in Renpy work, my advice is to do a quick-restart of the game to prevent errors in the variables).
The main bulk of the content can easily be reached by simply playing the Princess-storyline. This particular update picks up when Sarah leaves to visit a neighbouring Kingdom. Important; the storyline specifically takes into account: 1) If you married Varga (or did not) 2) If you've had scenes with Lily and/or Lady Carolyn These can have a big impact, not just on how scenes play out, but also just which scenes you even get to see at all, so take that into consideration when approaching the new update.
v0.4.9.9
The new content for this update largely revolves around expanding the mage-storyline. In total we're talking around 40.000 new words, and around 60 new art pieces. We have a good chunk of story content, as well as erotic content with more than 4 different potential characters, so quite a big update!
How to get to the content
Simply continue from where you left off in the mage storyline.
If you've never played the mage storyline; you get to it by doing Intro > Leave with Kate > Don't join mercenaries > Scream when you meet the bandit in the alley. If you follow those steps, you get started on the mage storyline.
v3.9.9
Right on the deadline, even a day early! The main goal of this update is further completing the intro-rework/re-design. With this new update, I'm adding a total of about 90 new images to the game, mostly centered around the story's intro. I've talked before about my goal with these last two updates. TSSR has become quite a large game, and while at first I didn't have very many resources, I'm now fortunate enough to have those resources as well as having some great colaborative artistic partners. As a result, many of the newer updates (that were later in the game) had the quality and the quantity of art that I hope the entire game will one day have. But the intro had remained very static, as it had originally been designed.
These two new updates go a very long way in re-working the game's intro, so that new players can immediately get an understanding for what I hope to create, rather having a lot of that good art hidden in the later segments of the game.
v0.2.9.9
The main thrust of this update is to revamp large sections of the game's main intro. Specifically, this is aimed at pulling the quality of the art and the density of the art, up to the standard that I'm aiming for the entire game.
In total, this means adding around 90 new art pieces to the game, with most of them being spread out across the game's intro section. Because of the size of the revamp, I've decided to release the current progress of it, rather than wait until the entire revamp is complete. My hope is that with one more update, I can complete the remainder of the intro-revamp and have the entire intro-section up to the new quality standard.
The main reason for focussing on this intro-revamp is because a lot of story-branches have more and better art in the later sections. By redesigning the intro, new players are instantly able to experience the quality and quantity of the art that I hope to have present throughout the game.
v0.1.9.9
Fortunately right on the deadline, still a little later then I had hoped. So, the main content for this update is an expansion on the Warrior-storyline. Specifically, it picks up right after Sarah makes her decision to go back to her homeland of Rosanna. To understand this update, you have to understand that it is somewhat experimental. I have previously discussed on this page that I have always had a certain target or ambition for TSSR. A lot of the earlier game was heavily influenced by what was possible in terms of art and resources. Now, with more resources available, it has always been my hope to try and set the bar higher for the game and its art-quality. This update shows a sort of proof-of-concept of the kind of art-density that I hope to try and develop as I continue development on the game. I'm still mixing and matching to fine the exact right balance, but I think the content in this update will give you all a good idea of my vision.
How to get to the new content?
The content plays out by simply continuing from the last update on the Warrior-path, or otherwise playing through the Warrior-route till its conclusion. The actual update itself plays out quite differently depending on previous choices, so to experience most of it, there are broadly 2 paths, the first is if Sarah has slept with Captain Belmont, the 2nd is if she has not slept with him. The outcome is the same for each path
v0.9.9
The newest update revolves around the other world/Daemon-storyline. It's a smaller branch, but I think eventually will be an interesting and important one for the entire story. This new update does not finish this storyline, but it does move it forward quite a bit, giving that path a bit more meat.
How to get to the new content?
In order to get to the new content, you simply need to explore the Mage-path. Then, when offered to learn a school of magic, proceed with the Daemonology tree. When a voice reaches out to you in the void, react to it. After that, everything should play out as per usual.
v0.8.9
So, this latest release focusses on expanding the so called "Rahayal" storyline. So far there hasn't been too much revealed around this one, nor have there been too many updates revolving around it, but I think this update will go a long way towards setting up what this storyline will be about. It's not one of the three main story branches, but I think eventually it will shape up to be an important one in terms of exploring more of the lore at the center of the story.
Coming in at just about 60 new art pieces and around 70k new words, it's up there as one of the bigger updates I've released in a while and I'm very excited to see what people think.
How to get to the new content?
This storyline is a little harder to get to than most. Essentially, you have 2 paths:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Do not join mercenaries > Leave Lethram > Travel the Old Road > Get to Rahayal and enter the city
Intro > Leave with Kate > Sleep with Belmont > Join Mercenaries > Join Belmont > Leave his ship when you get to Rahayal
Both paths set you up for more or less the same storyline. For now, the main path in the Rahayal storyline is the most developped, so I suggest players pursue those choices. The other paths are being worked on as well, but will come in a later update.
v0.7.9
So, this latest release further expands on the Warrior-storyline. It picks up from where we've last left, which would be after the optional storyline featuring Garret, and then continuing from there.
A small note that I did want to give; during production I realized too late that there had been a few misscommunications, so for some of the erotic encounters, the art doesn't perfectly match onto the written text. Because I caught this too late, I was faced with either postponing the update, or just fixing it in the future. I made the decision to release the update as is, rather than delay it, but I will be correcting these scenes in either the next update or the one after.
To get to the new content, continue from where the warrior storyline last ended. To start the warrior storyline, simply Intro > Leave With Kate > Join Mercenaries
v0.6.9
The new content for 6.9 is mostly aimed around expanding the sailor storyline, featuring Sarah and Captain Belmont. To get to this new content you can simply continue along the sailor path, or for those who have not yet discovered it:
Intro > Leave with Kate > Lie to Belmont > Sleep with him > Join Mercenaries > Agree in the optional event with Belmont that appears.
That should get you started!
Other updates:
Other than expanding on the existing story and including all the new art, I've also gone ahead and improved on the game's performance and reduce its total file size significantly. The game itself is bigger, but the file size should actually be a lot smaller this time!
Additionally, this has also fixed a large problem that previously existed with the android/apk version of the game, which had crossed over a size threshold that was giving a lot of players problems. These should now largely be fixed.
v0.5.9
- The main focus of this update is on further expanding the Princess-storyline. This new update expands both the Varga-storyline (where Sarah marries Varga) and the "Neither" storyline, or basically the storyline where Sarah opts out of marrying anyone.
- These two versions of the Princess storyline cover the same core story, but they involve very different options in terms of relationships, so for those who want to experience all the new content, I advise replaying the new content along both routes.
- Added a new main menu soundtrack (I suggest giving it a listen, I really like it)
- Fixed a series of GUI related bugs
- Re-worked several pieces of art and restyled scenes between Sarah and Kate and Sarah and Attila.
How do you get to the new content?
Stay with Thomas and survive the attack from the Tribes. Select to either marry Varga, or opt out of marrying anyone (do not marry Marion). Then, the new content picks up shortly after defeating Marion's rebellion.
v0.4.9
-The new content in this update is focused around introducing a new character on Sarah's warrior-storyline. It's somewhat of a side-story, so opting into the story content is important to get the full experience, otherwise the content cuts out quite quick.
How
do
you
get
to
the
new
content?
-This new content picks up after the last update on the Warrior-storyline. If you continue from there, Sarah and her army will arrive in a small town and the Mayor of the town will ask for your help. Accept helping them and the new content will kick-off.
v0.3.9
-The new content in this update is focused around the mage-storyline. Picking up where we left off, Sarah (and optionally Samayra) set out into the First City, to try and find out what the source of the magical signal is.
How do you get to the new content?
-It continues directly off the regular mage-route, so players should be able to continue from there.
v0.2.9
- Expansion on the Marion-storyline
- Updating old and missing artwork
- Added a hide UI function
v0.1.9

honestly the game has a lot of potential, the routes are interesting and th story are also interesting (for what we have) but the main issu eof this game i think is the art style shifting around, for example the "stay" route have pretty consistent art style but when you pick the "leave" route the artstyle s all over the place we went from water color style to a "dystopian project" art style in the span of 2 or 3 scenes..... I hope when the dev finished the entire story that he would make them consistent with each other...
A very broad game with many paths but few endings. There is a lot of content that you will easily miss unless you are using a step by step guide for a given path as even small variables can ruin a run. What REALLY drags this game down in score is the art. The style on the title page is the least common style while there is a heavy reliance on something akin to watercolor for a lot of scenes with dashes of AI art and at least one or two sections of the game have a clearly outsourced art style. The broadness of the game and the varied art styles takes its toll on the adult scenes as they are generally only a few stills and little else. The concept is amazing but the lack of a unified art style and aiming for lots of story choices rather than complete lines drag things down.
This game narration is simply immersive. I recommend. If you are into Coercion/Blackmail, then you gonna love the bad routes; but if you are into adventure and/or strong-willed MC then the good arc is going to be a feast. If you're looking for r4pe R4PE! then the game is kinda going to let u down; also no way you acan trigger NTR in case you enter a relationship; also bestiality is very minimal so far, only 1 character (or1 and 1/2 if you count that guy) Really nice game again i recommend
I don't really like reviewing unfinished games, but I'll make an exception here because this one was seriously impressive. The story is genuinely compelling, the relationship dynamics are actually well written and the art quality (in the scenes without placeholders) is gorgeous. My biggest complaint is that the princess route is horribly underdeveloped compared to the other 2 main branches, but that'll be sorted out with time. The male romance options are kinda dogshit compared to a lot of the female ones too. Easy 5 stars anyway
So, I played Sarah Rose a few years ago. It had a charming art, intriguing story, lots of choices and, it's consistent and authors clearly made some groundwork developing setting. Going back to it, the game clearly expanded in width (in all senses), but not necessary in depth. First of all, style has changed and not to the best. There are a few of them actually, the original one (better one) seems to be replaced by ugly (AI generated?) art with small heads and weird body proportions. Another style is western and totally different from game's presentation. It's a mess. Another problem are routs: there are a LOT of them. Which could be a plus, but the problem is: authors are firmly against merging or ending them, and also almost every choice spawns a new route, so... If you want to play the game when it gets completed, there are some bad news for you - it never will. There's an exponential bloat as a part of overall gamedesign: a lot of content is added, but if you don't go after every route you might not see it, and each update adds even more work... Definitely impressive in scope and has a few hot scenes, but is it really worse to read all of it? Probably not.
As of 0.9.9.9 Sarah Rose is more impressive than good, if that makes sense. There's a hundred branching paths and if one day the majority of them reach a satisfactory amount of content and cohesion then this becomes pretty amazing. Right now though, the game is extremely wide but shallow, with only a couple distinct routes feeling good. One thing that must get sorted out is the art. There's like 4 different art styles that we randomly jump between. Some stills are great, some bad, some are just okay but at least very expressive, the AI ones are kind of blurry and soulless. But just.. pick one. Ideally not the AI one but if you gotta use it then at least keep it consistent. Also on the art, there isn't quite enough of it. Stills get reused a lot. An entire lewd scene might just have one still. You'll often a still of Sarah with a dick in her mouth or getting fucked while the text is still building up to the lewd scene, the action shouldn't have even started yet. QOL features like a Gallery and some sort of in-game guide or pointers to different paths would be appreciated. One of the deepest paths, the Mage path, is reliant on you picking "Scream" when attacked. You basically accidentally fall into it. There's too much content out there that's way too easy to miss. We shouldn't need to rely on a million replays and a fan guide to see everything available.
*Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much political yapping. Do a different route you say? I can't, i hate losing, doubly so in serious games/vn's where loss results in your whole kingdom getting slaughtered by cavemen from the desert or some such, too responsible too to just gloss over that real or not, which automatically forces me onto the ruler route since it seem to be the only one accessible if you keep making correct decisions and thus NOT losing. *Mid art, often reused to boot. *Mid sex art. *Just one single ambient track for the whole vn... zero other sound effects. *Lack of any other systems or whatnot, just endless yapping and the occasional porn pic. *Couldn't get into any sex, it just doesn't feel appropriate when the vn is THIS fucking serious. As an example: One fatty wants me to get naked so he gives me his vote in exchange, right? Normally seems like the easiest shit ever to do, at least for me, BUT, it was written such that i felt like i would lose to the fatty if i complied... so i naturally gravitated toward the 'fuck you' option instead. Sigh~ Poor me. Anyway, this is basically a book. HF reading.
I am this type of almost invisble member of the community. A shy reader that is confident in his criteria. I have played countless games and laughed at thousands of your post and comments, admiring most of the times the ability to resume with concise words a several hours novel. Most of my collection is based on brainy reviews. But there is big amount of my favorite games that i have discovered following this lines: "Unnecesary reading", "Too much text". Maybe cause im a divorced 46 years old fuck who has spent all his life reading the spanish classics, maybe because i like the plot to grow as a rhizome, maybe because im a pedantic bastard i love this novel. Even if i dislike ai cg its a 5 stars game. I wont say anything else but give it a try.
I'm giving this game 2 stars. The story is really good, with many twists and plenty of choices, but there's a lot of unnecessary text, and while some images are decent, others are clearly AI-generated. This is based on Version 0.8.9.9. The Good: -The story is the best part; it's very varied, and the protagonist can be and do many different things. -Some story arcs (which are already complete) are very well developed. The Bad : -Too much unnecessary text, a lot of filler that leads nowhere. It could all be simplified. -The same image is repeated many times, making everything feel more repetitive. -Again, too much text—so much that it's unbearable. -There's no gallery. -I'm not sure if I already said it, but too much text. In summary, if you love to read and read, and keep on reading, this is your game. But if you don't want to waste a lot of time, just hit "Skip," and you'll still understand just as much, or more or less.
A hugely disappointing game. Based on the rating I expected the game to be great, but I simply couldn't enjoy it. It is one of those rare cases when bigger and more does not equal better. Sure, the game has A LOT of branches and choices, and those choices are really meaningfull. But the problem is that as a result many branches feel very shallow and not well developed (at least those three I played). Also, people blame AI art, but here supposedly a real human being (or probably several) has been making the pictures, but the result is below mediocre. Many pictures are plain ugly, the female characters on many of them are often unattractive, and yet still all the time it is felt that more pictures are needed for the events that are happening. Maybe this developer is just not for me since I hated his other game about aliens, but I simply cannot justify this game having any rating above 3 stars.
I don't know how I feel about this art style being changed. Sarah just looks bland now with less detail on herself and the others. The older art had way more detail to it with the shadings of her hair, the blemishes from everything to her top to feet. I'm assuming it changed to allow for quicker updates to the game? I feel like this game has lost its quality over quantity aspect. Now I'm not claiming to be a professional in art styles, but from my consumer point of view, it just looks boring, less personality and just outright lazy. I'm not criticizing the game, in fact I really love this game and want to see it work its way up to completion. It just hurts that developers from time to time have to make detrimental sacrifices towards the game and the people will just have to deal with it. The story is decent at least. I'd rather have to wait for months or even a year for something special, than faster updates with less quality.
Great Visual Novel with a lesbian path! The art is very nice and the strory is deep. The choices make sense and you can follow significantly different paths. The only issue for me is that while there is nice erotic content at the beginning of the story, the erotic content thins out at the end. It would have been nuicer to keep it spicy throughout. But still, very nice work overall!
The makings of a truly 5 star story - lots of branches and plenty of lovely art. Minus one star for the jarring change in art halfway through certain paths, including one with a fiverr watermark still on it. I get it, it was terrible artwork completely out of context for the rest of the story but this would be one of those cases where a placeholder or wall of plain text might be an improvement. That said, I added the one star back for the amazing amount of content and dialogue, clear and interesting love interest and branches etc. In this case the story made up for the visuals which I assume will eventually get replaced. Keep it up, I foresee a brilliant finished product because it already has a handful of complete endings!
It would be nice to see Dom-Paths of Sarah... It's always being a sub here and there and just 2 endings i think, where she comes out as a strong woman. I even hoped to see some brother-sister love Or she being the queen doing some orgies etc. ^^ The game itself is very well-made. Story-wise its a 8,5/10. The art is okay, maybe a 8/10. I like the diversity of fetishes in it 9/10. Since it's not fully done yet, i hope to see some dom-paths and another fetishes. Wish you a good success further dev
The story is great, you have a lot of different fetishes depending on your tastes and can avoid scenes that don't fit the story you wish for. you can have romance/toxic romance/humiliation/lesbian/monster/... all depending on your tastes, and you even have the option to get revenge on a specific hateful character. so if you like stories and reading, it is great, if you don't like that and want just straight up porn i think you can knock down a star or two
The story could be good, but at the end there was way too much text for me, even for a visual novel. Between the "choices" were 3 to 5 minutes of pure text skipping, which are clearly not my cup of tea. Art is also all over the place, from very basic comic styles (not shown in the screenshots) up to quite detailed illustrations. It feels like multiple artists working at that game, everyone with their own style because nobody can decide on one style.
I would rate it a 4 if the art didn't keep randomly changing each scene. It's really too inconsistent and keeps bringing me out of immersion, which is a shame because there was a time I enjoyed reading through this game. That said, if it does get finished and retouched in the future and becomes consistent it's going to be one of the best games in this site. It's a complete VN, that's actually written to have a story and not an excuse to get the mc pregnant.
VN done right. You get to choose your adventure hardcore, visuals are on point and the topics the game touches are actually somewhat interesting(surprising for a porn game). As always you gotta ask yourself why play a porn game instead of A)play a game B)Have sex or watch porn, and this one has compelling reasons to sink teeth into.
The plot is really intriguing in some places, but at the same time it is quite predictable. But you could close your eyes to this if the game did not jump from style to style, it looks very terrible and ruins the whole atmosphere. Bed scenes suffer from the same problem, which is critical for a game of this genre. Now I would recommend this at most for familiarization and wait for the full release so as not to play a mishmash.
I recently played v3.9.9 of The Survival of Sarah Rose, which follows the story of Sarah Rose, the princess of Rosanna. In the game, your decisions shape her journey, leading to various outcomes like the "Royalty Paths," "Adventuring Paths," and even the "Slave Paths." I mostly stuck with the "Adventuring Paths," especially the "Mage Apprentice Path," and I was hooked right from the start. The story and subplots are set in a dark fantasy world, and they’re really well written. I usually don’t go for games with female protagonists because a lot of them treat the main character like a cumbag for all the monsters and jerks to abuse. While this game has its share of those types of characters, it also has genuinely nice and likeable ones like Varga, Vaelen, and my favorite, “best girl” Samayra. My favorite part, hands down, is the yuri/lesbian content—it’s really well done, whether it’s Sarah X Kate or Sarah X Samayra. Though, I’d love to see more scenes where Sarah takes on a more dominant role. Most of the time, she’s portrayed as submissive. When it comes to the art, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’s clear multiple artists were involved, and the early styles are noticeably different from the later ones. Personally, I prefer the later style, but overall, the art fits the game well and is pretty solid. Overall, TSoSR is a solid game, and I’m excited to see how it evolves from here!
