Note that review is written after playing v1.0.1 Instead of structured review I'll rather describe how the game starts to hopefully convey the absolute chaos of it. >Game starts with zero controls explanation and puts you in the body of kaiju-sized invulnerable alien and lets you explode units coming at you for several minutes and fades screen to black. >Proceeds to star wars style scrolling text for 2 minutes. >Immediately throws you into mostly empty map as infantry unit with a friendly mech that shoots enemies and runs away from you if you get too close. Supposedly there is command mode but the only explanation you get is the key to open it. As far as you can see it just zooms out the camera. >You go into bunker, fight through infantry and touch console to activate defensive railguns on the bunker. >120 second timer starts. You exit the bunker and map is now packed with enemies including tanks and mechs that can fire at you while off-screen. >Due to how TANKY you are even as infantry you survive the timer and see message about evacuating on LZ >You don't have slightest idea where that LZ is. Check 80% of the map and find nothing. >Die eventually and get teleported to another bunker with full health. >Clear another bunker filled with infantry and way too tanky infantry-sized bots. > Find friendly mech pilot you saw after star wars text ended. >Pick her up. Now you can't fire. Good that you already cleared the bunker. >There's more enemies. You panic and press left and right mouse button. You drop pilot girl and can fire now. She DISAPPEARS. >Make it to where you started this level. Nothing happens. TLDR: Good core idea, abysmal technical execution and gamedesign.

Have to agree with the rest. The game is just way too over designed and not very suitable for the engine. Guy should've either go with Unity or maybe even Unreal engine. Barely anything is explained. I had to try out stuff and figured out that you just have to go on missions. But the missions are also kind of repetitive and only go easier once you upgrade your mech. There is a sort of free roam mode but that is also way too big and its way too difficult to find the girls. I really think the person who made this took a very long time to make it and it doesn't look bad at all. But sometimes less is more and that game really proves that. Its way too over designed and way too much stuff around it for what is essentially just a mecha battle game. I didn't even make it to any of the H-scenes hard to tell if they're worth it. In my opinion not really, its way too grindy and sprinting across the massive base is too tedious. So hard pass for me.

Battler Core is part top down shooter, part gacha game, part side-scrolling no-action game, part sex minigame. The biggest part, however, is trying to figure any of it out. The game offers no guidance in the sequence of events that make up the entirety of the game (IE- Do a mission>Spend loot to get X>Spend X on necessary Y>Interact with characters>Do sex minigame>Do a mission). Hell, the Intro mission dumps you into the top down shooter BEFORE telling you what any of the controls are. From then on it only gets worse. There's small tutorial menus but they're hampered by the fact there's way too much shit on screen at any given time (seriously, the whole thing looks like it was designed by someone with Super ADD) and even when you make selections, you're not really sure if the selection stuck or what exactly you got. None of this is helped by the miserable resolution it runs at, thanks to a modified version of the RPGM engine. I only had trouble with the game running at very low FPS the first time I ran it, restarting it fixed the framerate but it's not as if it ran incredibly well after it, there were still stutters and slowdowns. And bugs. Sometimes something flashes up on screen, like a character delivering a line and then doesn't go away. So you have a chick dancing in front of your eyes, completely obscuring the view when you're in the middle of a gunfight in the background. What wasted potential. Competent, if overly simplistic gameplay, good visuals and OST, ultimately ruined by a poor choice of engine, inscrutable UI, opaque features and bugs. Good ideas, terrible implementation. A good candidate for a remake, given you choose a proper engine and can find someone to design a competent UI.

This game is basically unplayable garbage. It's hard to pad out a review that is as simple as the controls are awful , the game runs at 5 FPS, the tutorial mission is you waiting for NPCs to kill a companion that takes like 5+ minutes, and the engine being used to power this game was clearly never intended for this kind of title. I honestly couldn't even finish the first mission.

Sigh, so, I launch the game, I get a 120 seconds wait tine for RPG maker to actually load, great start. In the main menu, how do you navigate? BY USING WASD TO MOVE AND USING LEFT MOUSE/RIGHT MOUSE CLICK TO ACCEPT OR CANCEL! WHOEVER THE HELL DESIGNED THIS MENU HAS NO IDEA HOW TO MAKE GOOD NAVIGATION CONTROLS! I play the tutorial mission, I am moving with WASD and aim with the mouse, one small problem though - RPG maker was never designed to run a 2D run and gun game, it runs at ~3 FPS. I quit instantly.
