Finding Color in the Ashes is a fantasy dating sim where you rebuild an inn and hang out with a witch named Lucy. It's a mostly cozy management game where you slowly rebuild a ruined inn, choosing how you spend you time. The day is divided up into mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights - and weekends have their own events as well. You also need to keep the surrounding area clear of monsters, equipping yourself with weapons and spells and engaging in turn based dice-combat. There are a variety of weapons, armors, and spells to buy, learn, and upgrade. Spoiler You earn experience points by talking with Lucy, the guests at your inn, crafting potions, fighting monsters, etc. Spend experience on abilities to improve your combat effectiveness, learn new spells, or make changes to the inn. The Game takes place over a year, and starts in the summer. Each season is about 90 days long, and has its own gameplay associated with it.

There are 5 new points of interest to visit and explore, some new NPCs, new events and reworked balance. This update really effects the core progression of the game, so I really do recommend starting a new save to check it out. I'm not really a fan of resource management/tycoon games, yet when I saw screenshots of this game and read its description, I decided to give it a go. Overall, I'm glad I did. To me, the strongest qualities this game has would be its art direction (art style, character design, etc) and its writing. The world and the characters in it are genuinely quite engaging. I especially like Lucy, the main heroine. She's very compelling. The gameplay is on the whole solid. The first few weeks are tough, with resources being very limited, only for the difficulty to progressively decrease as your options grow. Some may be turned off by that, but personally, I'd say it made for a more immersive experience. Taking a run-down inn and making something of it gives a rags-to-riches vibe that I really dig. Also, there is quite a bit of content available, which is impressive for a game that's still in its alpha stages. As far as NSFW content goes, it should be noted that this is not a porn game, but rather, a game with porn in it. I prefer it this way, but it may not be everyone's cup of tea. Either way, there is a good amount of scenes to be found here, but you have to work for them. I will also say that while the scenes themselves are alright, they could use some refinement, as well as build up going forward. In the end, the most notable issues with this game, as well as the reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5, is that it's still in alpha, and many aspects of it need some more work to shine. Even so, I have faith that the full release will be a truly fine experience.

This is one of the gems on this site that gets a bit too little attention. I'll start with the negatives: -This is more of a game with porn than porn with a game (guess I've just used the dev's own words). Personally, I don't find this game fappable, even if I do find all the female companions fappable. -It's In Alpha stage, so a lot of systems are unbalanced or even totally missing for now. Now, to the good stuff. The characters, the world and the music are captivating. The progression system, while possibly being reworked in the future, works really well, and presents you with a reasonable challenge. The world IS monochrome, it's not only an artistic decision. Whenever something is in color, it matters. The characters here are extremely sweet, and I enjoyed every bit of dialogue we can have. I enjoyed the porn aspects of them too, but it was somewhat overshadowed by their other interactions. Overall, this is one of the best games f95 has to offer.

Haven't been able to put it down since I started. If you're looking for something to jerk off to this isn't it. But if you'd like to play a cute, cozy management game with occasional sex it's great. Characters are well written and surprisingly deep so far. It's light, maybe a bit difficult to figure out in the beginning but the gameplay is very forgiving. Art is well done for what it is and the sex scenes are pretty good. If you want something to play on a rainy day while you relax give this a try. I can see myself purchasing this once it's finished.

Story and characters are nice, too bad it is dragged down by its grindy and repetitive gameplay you can do two things a day, making gold a very tiresome chore to deal with as you are gated from more content unless you upgrade your Inn. I spent so many hours trying to get to the good stuff AKA the adult side of the game and felt disappointed when I got there. As it is just bland vanilla sex, with sub-par animations that only last for a minute. The art direction although interesting doesn't satisfy me in the slightest, as the colorless approach lacks detail, as there is not enough shading, and hell even in anatomy things looks off like why does the MC's penis look like a chode in some scenes and in others long and skinny? Interesting concept but with this grindy gameplay and bland Adult aspects This misses the mark of being an Adult game.

A top tier H-game. This project is not the longest, or most intense but it delivers well on just about every aspect one looks for. I hope the devs find great success with the project. In short: Story: The game nails world and atmosphere right out of the gate. Its not revolutionary, but it sets itself apart from the other medieval RPGs. The combination of setup, music, and art marry well together to draw in the player and get one invested in the game's world. Should the dev choose, this setting could go quite far. Visuals: The game's art is solid, very polished and with attention to the small details, like the heroine moving around in the background between days. The H-scenes are simple and effective not mind blowing, but they fit in with the overall 'cozy 'atmosphere. Game-play: The numbers in the background need a balance pass, but even as is the mechanics are perfectly serviceable. I like the dice system and to the devs credit, it isn't something I've seen before. The game is not particularly challenging, but it's engaging and the management, upgrading, exploring, etc all fit well together. Overall: honestly one of those titles I could hold as the reason to lurk on sites like this. you occasionally find really neat projects that you wouldn't expect to find here and would be easily buried elsewhere. More importantly it passes the key quality test: could it stand without the H-content. Easy pass on that one, looking forward to this game's future.

Game is cozy and has plenty of things to do. Characters so far are fleshed out well enough and have recognizable endearing personalities, can't wait to see what will be in store for them as development continues. Consistent progress, updates, and community engagement by the dev, which says a lot considering the landscape of gaming nowadays.

At first I thought this was extra grindy, but there is a bit of a learning curve and then you're off to the races. It's quite fun once you realize you have to work towards some income quickly. The art is very cute and flirty, and the lack of color helps accentuate when you do see it. I really like the vibe.

I'm torn between rating this game 4 star or 5 star but this game is still in Alpha so in the meantime, I'll rate this 5* despite seriously lacking in important department, which I will elaborate in later section of this review Alright, where do I begin? It's a stat management game. If we are talking this kind of genre in porn games, one might immediately thought of a certain game by Inusuku. However, this game is like the total opposite in terms of which aspect this game is good for. The seggs mechanics is basically Temu version. If I'm allowed to touch the completely subjective subject, the artstyle in the other game I mentioned is also more charming. However, in terms of plot, day-to-day activities, and combat, this game managed to hook me up enough to make me sit through the game for almost 24 hours full, and I only stopped because of irl work stuff. This game is the porn game where you can genuinely say you are playing for the plot. Basically, the plot for this game is that the world has lost its colors due to a phenomenon called "Tears". It brought forth a phenomenon called "Fracture" and creatures called "Fractured". Basically something similiar to zombies. However, it is classified differently from undead inside the game. While undead is a corpse reanimated by a necromancer and will follow their orders until being put down, and if reanimated by itself again, then it will just wander mindlessly, Fractured is more like of a possession, where various conciousness starts to live inside someone, dead or not, and either because inherently hostile or they are fighting with other conciousness including the host, they are pretty much hostile to everyone except for one exception, Lucy. But the most importantly, Tears also took away colors from the world. When you were a child, you saw a Fractured and even though it should've been scary. instead you were captivated by how beautiful colors are. Your parents were obviously not pleased and sent you to the capital far away from the danger in the border but you still want to find and see the colors again. Fastforward, you heard of a terrible news and rushed back home. Your family is nowhere to be seen and you found the inn partially destroyed and abandoned. However, during your stay in the first day, a Fractured suddenly knocked on the door. The collective conciousness is dragging their host, Lucy, into safety and asked you to help her. The whole game is about you trying to revive an inn with a Fractured by your side. How? Well, maintaining, fixing up, and cleaning up the inn obviously. You also need to receive guests during the evening, managing supplies for you, your companions, and guests, while also patrolling the road and nearby area to make sure there's no danger. Sounds complicated, especially for a supposedly porn game, and I haven't even mention the main quest to find a solution from Lucy's fracture, which involves you sheltering a vampire, rescuing a dryad, hosting an army, and cozying up to a witch living in a tower. The devs knew this, so they used 360 days a year calendar with 90 days for each season. That should give you an idea how long the devs expect you to progress the game. I managed to reach as much inn's self-sufficiency as possible at the end of winter (first playthrough), and the game starts at the beginning of summer and I think this is what makes it addicting. Oh, sorry, this is a porn game review. Where is the seggs part? Like I said before, it's the Temu version of Inusuku's works. If you already play his game before, even the first Monochrome, you should be able to picture how the seggs mechanics is. However, It leaves a lot to be desired. You can't change position, you can't piston automatically (I mean, you could but you wouldn't make progress in anything), you can't permanentnly increase your "energy", you can't sneak onto the bed too since, well, Lucy is a mage and there's absolutely no reason for her to not put anti-intruder spells especially with a vampire living in the cellar. In short, limited options and not enough interactivity. It's not like the seggs mechanics is bad, but it is easily overshadowed by the non-seggs aspect. You could simply remove the seggs part and the game would be hardly different. In fact, I just ended up ignored seggs halfway because it got in the way of the grind. I give 5 star for the weirdly deep non-seggs part, but I hope the devs will improve the seggs because if there's one thing that will make this GOTY, it would be a massive improvement in seggs.

One of the best porn games i've ever played. Great story, great gameplay. Wish that some fights were harder, but even now they are really cool. Wish to see more content and some content with adventurers parties, sidequests. But sex scenes need at least a little rework. Make them more controllable. Or faster. And so you can choose companions scenes. More lucy scenes. Make them somewhat usable in gameplay. For example make that sex with lucy lessen her fracture a faster. But sex drains MC stamina. Regain bloodpool for scout. Or/and make skilltree that you can levelup only with special sexexp. Idunno, charisma/resolve. That allows to sell and buy at better price, give some skills to empower your companions or affect psyche of enemies, get rep faster, get more story events. With more sexdraining mechanic it will maybe give more depth. Some skills unlocked only after sex with certain characters. At the beginning will be more reason to choose between improvement of skills or relation with lucy. Also make that sex gives more affection and you get sex before maxed affection

Well paced and well written. Just needs more of what its already got. I guess I wouldn't mind more season specific mechanics. The heroines are pretty fleshed out and I like how many of the characters and events are mixed bags.
twaddledee 2025-10-23
The sex scenes are by far the weakest part of this game. That said, the gameplay loop is really fun, and keeps catching me with that one-more-turn feeling. I would almost prefer to play this game in SFW mode, just because the H seems kinds of tacked-on and unnecessary. It's not bad, exactly, but I don't feel it adds anything.
nerdlert 2025-10-19
4/5 Fun gameplay and enjoyable character development but lacking art. I am a fan of the home rebuilding, progression, and discovery of game mechanics. Was happy to complete the game purely for the gameplay. The H scenes are not that interesting but I am glad they exist.
FapBot6000 2025-10-16
Gameplay loop is fun at first but quickly becomes monotonous. Very little event and not a whole lot to do. You just wake up each day decide what 1 or 2 things to do, deal with the inn, talk to companion, go to sleep, rinse repeat. Sometimes you fight some monsters. You are gated by gold, so you just do your best to grind gold. The h scenes that are there are pretty minimal and meh. Honestly could work on this and just sell it as a vanilla game and it would probably be better off.
abcd4321 2025-10-14
What a wonderful game! Great art style, writing, and game mechanics. Lots of content and minimal filler. I especially like the use of color. Wish it had a gallery though. The save system could also be more clear - it autosaves daily but this isn't explained.
LickNipMcSkip 2025-10-10
Very cozy cohabitation game with an engaging gameplay loop surrounding and charming characters inhabiting the gameworld drawn with an even more charming artstyle. My main complaint is that there's not enough of it and I want more.

Rizzoning 2025-09-17
Review for alpha version 2.11 It's a medieval fantasy innkeeper simulator resource management game with occasional turn based combat. First, the gameplay. The game follows a calendar and you have limited actions per day. There are seasons, weather events, and so forth. It's not an extraordinarily difficult game, but you can absolutely feel the time pressure. You have to stockpile wood, food and so forth, while at the same time investing time and money into equipment and stats, while also trying to repair the inn. Enemy encounters happen randomly on expeditions. In combat you roll dice and pick the highest numbers. You can sacrifice mana or stamina for extra dice. There is a skill that unlocks "crits" for when you roll doubles. There are a few different build paths, but you'll max out all the stats and unlock all the skills sooner or later. Up until here I'd say this is all good. Every now and you come across special events where you meet a new npc, but it is not obvious how to trigger these encounters and I think you can miss recruitable npcs if you are too slow at repairing the inn. Sometimes it is not clear what you have to do. For example, I found the research tower very confusing. I never figured out how to get "heart wood notes" or "heart tree notes" for the dryad. You can also easily miss the option for interacting with companion characters, since it only shows up if you refuse all customers for the day, which you wouldn't normally do. If you mess up, there is no way to go back. There is no manual saving and no options menu. You can only load autosave states, the game saves automatically at the end of each day, with a maximum of 3 save states, so you can only go back 3 days at most and starting over will quickly overwrite your old playthrough. Although this is a fantasy harem type of game, the porn is not the main content. There is no voice acting. The art and animations are alright, I barely even cared that it is mostly all in black and white and I also don't mind that it is vanilla content. However unlocking it takes a long time. Once you have seen all of Lucy's scenes during the summer season, it takes like an hour of gameplay before you come across more. Unlocking further scenes requires grinding. I think the characters are interesting, the fantasy world is intriguing, the porn is okay and the resource management adequately challenging, but there are some huge flaws, so I can't give it more than 3-4 stars.

Great game with super nice artstyle and cozy atmosphere. I also like the writing which is often on point and written in a pretty mature way. If you are like me and tired of impossible body proportions and senseless storytelling I would really recommend this game. I would love to see more.
vampirismfire 2025-09-08
A charming, cozy game. The characters are charming, there's an actual sense of progression and the process of learning what to prioritize and how to go about the day-to-day business of running the inn is engaging (and also mirrors the protagonist's experience of slowly learning how to manage it). My only (very tiny) gripes are having to click through repetitive dialogue, and initially the dice system (where you have to put your own dice in the empty slot) is not super intuitive. Also the process by which the secondary characters become interested in you might benefit from being a little more gradual? Currently you can sort of boost the side girls' affinity/interest pretty high before really talking or flirting with them, which can lead to relationship progress feeling a bit abrupt when they decide they're down to bang in their first or second conversation with you after moving in.
