Free Pass: Yoon

I really don't get it... you have a medium where people can see an image for as long as they like, check the details, spend their time or, if they prefer, click past it fast. They can even skip super fast if they so desire. So what do you do? you change that for AI videos, one after the other. What is the advantage to the user? Oh yes! now I can't pause if I want to see something better! fantastic, now I can't go back one render to double check something, I have to rewind the whole short AI animation! I can't click to go faster if I want to reach the next section or else I miss the whole animation and I won't even know what I missed! Yay! all advantages for the user! Additionally, lets not provide text, but instead AI voice acting, because like that I really force you to "read" at the dev's pace. Can't read faster, or take more time to read a phrase.... no, no... What you want, obviously, is to watch a movie, and this dev provides that.... in a mobile phone format! who doesn't want to watch movies in a phone format? don't you wish all of your movies missed 2/3rds of your screen? So.... what the hell is this and who the hell is it for? Terrible, terrible ideas. What is wrong with renders? using the whole screen? letting people read? letting people go at their own pace?

Awful. I don't even mind AI and I play some of the better AI games, but this is just the sloppiest of the AI slop. Lazy writing, robotic voices, dicks with gills. and the cherry on top is that none of the listed tags are actually in the game. it's 100% that some douchebag developer is trying to scam people out of their money, but they don't even want to do any work so they use AI. hard pass

Good start. The gameplay brings a new experience. There are a few issues with the animations. It looks like the first image of the animation is used in the middle of the scene, creating some inconsistency. I will rate as 5 for the effort

After all that commentary about the use of generative AI, I didn't really take the opportunity to offer a review of the game ' Free Pass - Yoon v0.1 ' by AfterChoices. I had been a fan of the original game because I like those corruption games where the character eventually hits bottom and either stays there or claws their way out. In the original game, you had relatively innocent, principled Yoon, doing her thing, preserving her culture and her virtue in a setting that saw it as a quaint little affectation. As the story unfolded, Yoon and her friends got themselves into a peck of trouble with some gangsters and let some flirtations go a little too far. I full admit that I was prepared to watch Yoon navigate a pretty dark pathway. It pulled in as many people as it did because of this genre as well as the exceptional artwork by the dev. Then, AfterChoices put the game on pause for a while. When they came back, the whole game was reworked, making several retcons that would make Marvel or DC Comics envious. Gone was the step-daughter Michele, replaced with someone both unrecognizable and unrealistic. Gone were the gangsters and all of those things that made the corruption part of the game so enticing. It was replaced with a game that was full of 'Vegas, Baby' antics and a series of odd plotlines that felt more redundant than exciting. While I did try ut the the Free Pass 2, I was still feeling like the dev wasn't getting the point of how to make a game that was more than a personal catharsis for themselves. I kinda fell off the bandwagon at that point, and simply lamented the game that should have been. In my opinion, the original Free Pass should have been put on indefinite hold [as happens with a lot of independent games here], and a parallel game with all of the VEGAS bits strung together with different characters and a subtly different plot. Hello Baby, Kathoey, Naughty 40, all were valid games on their own. Therefore, I do not recommend this game, fraught as it is with a plot that is both far more shallow than the original in terms of art and plot, and cringingly tone-deaf on the subject of using AI to remake a game that was ended shoddily. That's my review.

Great start, well done videos, good build on the tension. I like this as an alternate Free Pass story. Hoping for a true Cheating path and not just another cuckold. Or swinging if you can bring in another couple. Can't wait to see more!

i was gonna rate 5 stars just because of the amount of effort put in this, the stunning visuals, voiced lines, smooth animation etc... But for the love of lord, if your game / vn don't have something, JUST DON'T add the related tags to it! For everyone who considers downloading thinking ''look at the tags, there might be some spicy stuff'', there is not, none, zero. Not even a bj. This is basically a false advertising, and its even worse considering it comes from a seasoned dev.

Incredible. It may be short in terms of content, but it feels like a huge step forward for adult visual novels. I have yet to see anything quite like this one. I loved the editing and the attention to detail, and admire the mind behind its cinematography and flow. I have no idea how it was made this well, but I imagine it was frustrating, and probably costly. Eagerly waiting for more.
