Life is Vanilla is an adult visual novel that tells the story of a young man navigating his late teens and early twenties, drawing from real-life experiences blended with fiction. Inspired by shows like How I Met Your Mother , the game focuses on humor, light-hearted storytelling, and character development as the protagonist learns about relationships, confidence, and finding his place in life. The prologue introduces the main character at 18, a virgin exploring the awkward and humorous journey toward losing his virginity. Along the way, players will witness many of his comical mistakes, learn from his experiences, and enjoy optional "spicy" scenes created purely for entertainment. While the story is based on real-life events, details such as names, locations, and professions have been changed to protect the identities of those involved. Optional adult content has also been added to enhance the experience.

There are zero relevant choices in this game. You ARE GOING TO BE WITH EVERY GIRL. You get to maybe skip 2 H-Scenes. The models are meh.. You dont define the MCs behavior at all, its mostly kinetic and choiceless. The "friends" are all 2ft tall idiots with no sense of humor or character. The LI's are pretty avoidable (if that was allowed as an option). The story is forgettable, it feels like an amalgamation of several things and nothing at the same time.

The writing in this game is bad and it's really boring. It's hard to stay interested when the characters aren't very interesting and the story seems predictable. It might have been more fun if there had been some unexpected twists or more interesting interactions. The sandbox part looks out of place and doesn't do any good to player experience. The narrator text and inner thoughts of the MC are so boring that at some point I even decide to ignore them altogether. The model of the LIs isn't terrible, but it could definitely use some improvement. I also noticed a virgin tag, but honestly, every LI I've come across has already been with other guys before the MC. There are no virgins in this game except for the MC himself. It really annoys me when developers use an attractive tag just to draw in players and then end up tricking them. My advice: don't give a chance to this garbage.

Unique personal perspective and story telling which is rather refreshing in the current AVN Climate filled with wanna-be wizards and warriors and chicks with monsterous dicks. Making me sick how many times I see ladyboys with 12 inch schlongs pounding the prom queen when i scroll through the recent update feed. That being said, no FUTA content here and the visuals/animations are getting better with each update. NGL, 'LIFE IS VANILLA" has a long ways to go before its on my list of S Tier games, but the DEV is forthcoming about his intentions and skill set which is why I'd like to encourage the DEV to stay focused, maintain his current course, and steadily continue to make QOL improvements with each update and dont lose your obvious enthusiasm that you have for this project. Although I do have to say that I've been quite pleased with the turn around time and frequency of each update thus far. It definitely helps maintain my interest in the project and I hope to see others give this VN a chance before pressing the skip button.

Game's prolouge is alright. Main LI is very unattractive, other girls are meh looking. After the prologue it devolves into a garbage sandbox AVN despite to Sandbox tag. Concept is there however this one needs to go back to the drawing board. Also on second playthrough skip button has technical issues of only skipping a few scenes and stopping.

A story taken from real life (purportedly) is pretty rare in the world of AVNs, and I wish we could see it more. I'm not sure who is doing the writing for most of these games, but they usually seem pretty inexperienced, which leads to artificial conversations and scenes. Not this time. Real memories make the dialog and the sequence of events feel more authentic here. That also makes it easier to forgive the presence of the inevitable horndog comedian sidekick. Some people really are just like that, even if it's just a facade. And of course the sex is spicier, knowing that it actually went down that way, more or less. I also appreciate how there's no pretense in the writing. It's a humble and therefore relateable story. And it's clearly written by someone who's native language is English. And the renders aren't distractingly stylized. The dev uses VAM models instead of Daz, so they aren't as detailed -- but this also means that you won't encounter any of the usual cookie-cutter faces. But since this is a journey that actually happened to the dev, I can't figure out why it's written in second-person present tense, which also dips frequently into past tense. Then the narrator (the dev) sometimes pops in and adds commentary in first-person past tense. I really like the commentary, because it adds a layer of introspection that's pretty unique. And it lets the dev do some exposition without actually telling instead of showing. But it also makes making the shift back from past tense to present tense jarring. He's recollecting, but then we're back in the "present" which is actually...still the past. It really feels like sticking with 1st-person past tense throughout would click better overall. I want to take a star off for this, but I think I have to concede that my reaction is subjective. Some people might not even notice.
