Taking place twenty years after the Metagen-92 virus – aka the “Superflu” – has swept the world and rendered many of its adult population superpowered or mutated, Origin Story follows MC (name customizable), a seemingly normal nineteen-year-old who in any other universe would be a popular and attractive prospect for most girls. I've played a ton of AVNs and this might be my favorite now. The story is top notch, the writing is incredibly solid and both intellectually interesting and comedic, and the premise and LIs are captivating. Do yourself a favor and play this immediately.

A top game. Great dialog from Ev and Amber. Gorgeous women with normal sized breasts (a rarity as we all know). The story progress is a little jumpy or inconsistent - it seems like certain characters and settings are abandoned but given where it ended with 9.3, there is a lot remaining and perhaps it will return to previous chapters. That is a minor critique - I look forward to continuing with this. Well done, JDOR

Well, the renders are top quality and the soundtrack is very good, no animations but the game doesn't suffer one bit for it. The dev is an amazing writer and created very unique characters with very distinct personalities. However, the game is 80% fucky fucky and 20% story... it got to the point where I was like "thank god this scene ended, now finally some story content" and then ten renders later, another scene. Don't get me wrong, everything is very well written and yes it's a porn game, but like Thanos said, there must be balance... otherwise what should feel like a reward becomes a chore the player has to go through

Well Played . . . .Very Well Played. Starts fun but by S8 some things especially behavior of a certain LI becomes erratic like a cheap porn VN but turns out its intentional. S9 hits a banger and touches on the so called 'intentional' behavior a bit and even consequences to it and moreover brings the whole VN into a new light and twist. Note -I have tired my best to say what I want with minimal spoliers. My honest take - Until S9, don't quit midway feeling that it has lost its story, now I am not aware of any behind the scene contexts, maybe it might have and author drove back to right track BUT S9 shows good promise. I'll even go as far as explaining why its promising, if you individually pick of S9 isolating it from the entire VN it might not seem flashy just dystopian fuckfest but when you watch the contrast of where is started from, what was going on to End of S9, it hits differently.

This game would easily be one of the GOAT's if lewd scenes were animated and they had sound. The game is still amazing nonetheless, but animated scenes would put it into the next tier.

You might not agree with the plot direction. You might not find the LIs attractive (they are). You might find the sex too kinky or not enough. All of that is subjective. A game should be rated solely on the quality and obvious effort put into it by the developer. And this one is an easy five stars. Anyone removing stars because they don’t like the content, who you sleep with, or because it feels too much like a kinetic novel is a moron. You might not like this game, but it is straight-up lying to give this game a bad review. Because you disagree with the dev's vision for his art does not diminish the amount of labor, which is what we, as critics, should recognize. Because the rest is subjective. That being said, this game is up there with the rest. It’s deep, the porn logic makes sense, the sex is hot. And I can tell the dev is trying to please and accommodate as many people as he can, or I’d wager some scene would be a bit more depraved. Still, it’s kinky enough to please the perverted, and not too out there to gross the majority out. The plot is interesting, even though the overall pace is slow, because much of the focus is on interpersonal relationships. Again, you can disagree with the dev, but I appreciate it. All in all, definitely worth your time.

This game is on a knife edge and the dev needs to be 100% careful with how they proceed. Firstly let me say I thoroughly enjoyed what has been released so far (as of S2 v0.9.3). The models are hot and the characters are some what compelling. I actually found myself wanting to go through the story for non-horny reasons. The world setting is, while basic, fun and a good creative exercise and brings a lot. It also does wonders on making some female characters safe from being love interests. The dialogue is pretty decent and I think when given time to breathe it's really good. Sex scenes are pretty well done and are pretty hot. It jumps to the action pretty quick which I am appreciative of here. The game does not treat sexual interactions like a level up system where you need 5 hand jobs to get a blow job and uses them, correctly here, for what fits the story. Threesomes are common enough too and I expect larger groupings as the game goes on. No gripes at all. Moving on the the negatives. Story games live and die by the characters. If you introduce too many you can't care about them all and can't be made to. That doesn't mean you can't have a large ensemble but you need to show restraint with your core cast because everyone needs to have the opportunity to care about them, and more importantly CONTINUE to care. You can't just set someone up then say jobs done. I think the approx amount is around 8 characters and this game is already positioned over that. At that limit every other side interaction starts to canabilise into the main cast's time. The dev needs to reduce scope really focus on the main girls. Next negative is this game is dangerously close to a kinetic novel which has bonuses but needs correct labeling. There are a few meaningful choices but otherwise it's more a how a sex scene goes down selector rather than an impact on the story game or the characters. Last negative is the dev is needs to be careful with the scope of the narrative they want to tell. I applaud the dev for wanting to write a larger story here than "How do man bang many women?" but I also think they need to be careful with the pacing of it. I think the early game is missing a few hooks and the later chapters spend too much time in some side story scenes outside the MC PoV. I'm not sure how much of the game has been planned but it definitely feels written on the fly and I think it needs to be scoped out asap if it is. TLDR; I recommend and enjoyed this a lot but it won't take much for this game to become a "stay away from" if the dev is not careful.

It's a good game, the world and characters are great. I don't know if I can say this without getting my review removed, but I saw it as a softer The Boys , or perhaps more human. Being a world where a good portion of people have powers, it was logical that it would be handled better, but that's why I want to see more of this world: what other heroes are out there, what hides in the darkness. The characters have a good amount of layers; it's beautiful to see Ruth's story and how she slowly opens up to the MC. If you're one of those who reject her, I hope you're prepared to break her heart. It's very interesting how it can jump from a story with humor to serious themes — something that happens in every chapter. But honestly, the last twist of chapter 9 left me with a bad taste in my mouth, which I'm saying from the angle of what the story made me feel, not that it's something bad. For a story to achieve that, to make you empathize and grow attached to the characters, is one of the things that makes it good. Without spoilers, seeing that possible future, how raw it is... it's something harsh and brilliant in equal parts. Spoiler: Reseña en Español "Es un buen juego, el mundo y los personajes están geniales. No sé si puedo decir esto sin que me eliminen la reseña, pero lo vi como un The Boys más suave, o quizás más humano. Al ser un mundo donde una buena parte de la gente tiene poderes, era lógico que fuera llevada de mejor manera, pero por eso quiero ver más de este mundo: qué otros héroes hay, qué se oculta en la oscuridad. Los personajes tienen una buena cantidad de capas; es hermoso ver la historia de Ruth y cómo poco a poco se abre al MC. Si eres de los que la rechazan, espero estés preparado para romperle el corazón. Es muy interesante cómo puede dar saltos de una historia con humor a temas serios — algo que pasa en todos los capítulos. Pero la verdad, el último giro del capítulo 9 me dejó con un mal sabor de boca, lo cual digo desde el ángulo de lo que me hizo sentir la historia, no de que sea algo malo. Que una historia logre eso, que empatices y te encariñes con los personajes, es una de las cosas que la hace buena. Very good visuals. Attention to the details is worth to be praised. Optional kinks, are present. Plot-wise was a bit pleasantly surprized. Seems to be an attempt in superhero deconstruction genre. The latest chapter [9] focuses a bit too much on a non so glamorous side, hope the dev will be able to get the right balance between entertaining power fantasy with hot babes, and the more serious topics. Gameplay-wise in the very beginning of the story there is a couple of annoying sandbox elements, but fortunately the game stick to the novel after that. 5/5

To be fair, I skipped around a lot due to being frustrated. It's one of those games where if you' do what the game wants you to do, it's a smooth experience. If you're not happy with the choices/doing what the game wants, it's very frustrating. The LIs feel forced, and you're pressured to accept them at every turn. The problem is when you don't like some of them. If you follow the path like the dev intends, it's probably a 4/5 experience. For me, it was not enjoyable.

Don’t sleep on this because of the animations. It’s a really good AVN that keeps me looking forward to each chapter release. The characters are very interesting, I’m looking forward to seeing how they all flush out. The story directly asks very provocative moral questions that really has the reader thinking and the latest cliff hanger really has me looking forward to how the protagonist intends to resolve certain…issues.

NOTE: 4 stars is generally the highest I give any AVN, as there is always room for improvement. This one is genuinely upper tier, and there are some surprises baked in that jaded viewers like myself should note. On the surface, I would label this as a fantasy fulfillment style game. You know the type, where every interaction boils down to "Do you want to fuck this LI y/n?" and it appears to be no detrimental effects. Pair this with the non-cinematic visuals, and most of us know exactly what this AVN is going to be. Well, we might be wrong in our assesment. Go ahead and play it for fantasy fulfillment, and the first thing you learn is that there is a reason every LI throws themselves at you. Even more intriguing is that relatively early on, a very realistic creep factor exists because of this... and the writer brings it up if you are too besotted by the non-stop fucking, though it is made pretty obvious without being hand fed. Chapter 9, the first part of season two even confirms the issue, and the reveal is chilling. The reveal only happens by doing the harem thing, so my usual startup would have kept it from me. I'm glad I did not take this story as seriously as I should have, because the full effect does require letting go of all inhibition. So, I was tricked into thinking the story was a wrapper for sex scenes, and instead I see that there is a very involved and high stakes story waiting to overwhelm me. So, the story so far is top tier. There remain mysteries, and I hope the writer keeps all the threads together, as this has been very satisfying and I am hoping for an ending that brings it all home. As for other aspects... as I mentioned, the visuals are not cinematic. Don't get me wrong, the models and animations are spectacular. None of the models are default, and I would say that some are hard to even recognize what their default is. It just doesn't have the movie quality environment is all. So, this is a rare AVN where you get it for the porn, but stay for the story.

I've reached end of Chapter 9 so far, and I can say with absolute certainty that I am hooked! This game has awesome story, incredible sex scenes, amazing music, and a plethora of LIs (which you collect them for their powers like Pokemon!) It's going in a nice direction, where you feel down the road you'll have to choose whether you'll remain an omnipotent benevolent superpowered man, or a despot. I really hope it's the first one, since I'm invested in that! Anyway, it's another must-play diamond!

Visually, this is very impressive. The women are mostly very attractive, and there's a lot of variety in shapes and sizes. If it was just pictures, I'd easily rate this five stars. Sadly (for Origin Story), adult visual novels include a story component, and since this isn't a kinetic novel, also some level of interactivity. Here is where this AVN sinks into the gutter. - mechanics: the sandbox mechanics are frustrating. I get the purpose - they're there to provide backstory/filler to make the game seem longer than it is. Fine. But the inability to skip most of it (specifically thinking about the part where you have the option to shower to end the free roam, with the option of 3 conversations - all of which turn out to be mandatory). That's irritating. As a general rule, a sandbox should provide a player with a greater level of choice. If you're going to put rails in your game, just have the conversations happen, don't force me to navigate a sandbox for no purpose. the dev warns that some lewd encounters can't be avoided (for story purposes), and he spoke the truth. There was only two (or maybe 3?) sex scenes that couldn't be avoided. I appreciated that, but again, mechanically, being forced to manually click on parts of a woman's body to engage in foreplay when I wanted to reject the love interest was frustrating (not because I had to sit through the love scene, but just the extra clicking). - lewd content: bog standard third-leg MC. I rejected every love interest, so I can't testify to the quality of the lewd scenes beyond that. As for the why of making that decision..... - story:For a game about a world where 90% of people have superpowers, it was very hard to believe. You have an all-female team of world-famous, superpowered, absolute smokeshow superheroes, and each of them instantly throws themselves at the teenage MC and then are heartbroken when he rejects them? Why? The story establishes that they are beloved celebrities. They have their pick of any man on earth, but they all are desperately in love with the teenage MC within a few hours of meeting him? Why? F---you, that's why! Don't ask questions! The childhood best friend is in love with MC and made a pact to sleep with him when she turned 19. You reject her - on her birthday when she shows up to have sex - and she not only is totally fine with it, but literally begs the MC to allow her to devote her life to helping him. Why?? F--- you, that's why! Don't ask questions! The most famous and powerful of the world-famous superhero team has absolutely nothing better to do than pal around with the teenage MC at his high school, for a really long time, rather than, oh.... i don't know, doing superhero stuff, enjoying her rich and famous lifestyle, being a celebrity, or just not hanging around with teenagers. Why? F--- you, that's why! Don't ask questions! All in all, i have to say the story disappointed me. I was hoping for something that was coherent, that wasn't just a typical juvenile power fantasy. But that's all this is. It does that well, no doubt; but to be great, you need to have characters with depth, with emotions, with believability. Unfortunately, Origin Story doesn't accomplish this, which is why I rated it: Visuals: 10/10 Mechanics: 5/10 Story: 1/10 Overall: Average, 5/10

Origin Story [S2 v0.9.3] - 4.8 / 5 Hope it sticks around for a long time I have been playing this since 0.3 and I want to acknowledge that this game always made me want more. I checked the dev notes and was amazed that the story is written well off in advance and so far it always delivered so I am not going to question anything just watch everything unfold. The art is good, the sex scenes are great and has a nice story with plenty of intrigue, I also love how MC has 2 girl friends a visible perv and an invisible one, both perving both true cuckqueens. Need to be honest it did have some cringe moments and not everything is perfect, but I enjoyed every update and it is definitely worth the play, there is plenty to enjoy for everyone. Final Verdict: Worth the play, diverse cast, plenty of porn, graphics are nice, and the girls have an individual personality not just sex dolls.

What an absolutely unexpected gem of a game. The quality overall is just fantastic. The writing is well paced and witty, the jokes land every time, and despite clearly going for a more goofy kind of storytelling, it knows when it's time to put all that aside for the serious moments. The girls are all lovely and varied to degrees only a universe like this could bring forth. First I was a little worried that they would end up just being personified one-dimensional clichés, but that worry is completely gone now with developments showing us the depth behind all their masks. The only negative thing I could say is that it doesn't contain animations, but considering how bad 95% of Daz lewd animations are and how jarring those ported to Blender can be, I honestly couldn't care less. The scenes are still really hot and enjoyable. Can't wait to see where this is going, especially now with the latest update...

Funny, heartfelt, and with no small amount of drama and intrigue, this AVN has quickly become one of my favorites and I'm genuinely sorry I hadn't invested any time into it earlier. This one's a fun ride with a diverse cast of love interests and I'm really excited to see where the story is gonna go. Absolutely recommend.
