Something's Up With Mom Recently is a Ren'Py visual novel by LoneLewd, presented with 3D CG artwork. You follow Thomas, an eighteen-year-old student whose family starts over in a new city after financial loss. His mother Hannah takes a part-time job as head librarian at his school, and he tries to keep her identity away from classmates. A teacher sends him to the library, and an observant classmate notices more than he expects. The story uses multiple protagonists and includes themes of corruption.

The current build is v0.1.2, released September 6, 2026, with a later update dated October 12, 2026. Development appears ongoing, as the changelog mentions another update soon. It runs on Windows and Linux in English and is uncensored. The update speeds up text timing, makes Caleb's dialogue more formal, improves some background renders, adds and balances sound effects, and introduces a global phone gallery plus phone profile pictures.

Developer's description

After losing everything they worked for, the Robinson family is forced to start over in a new city. While his parents struggle to rebuild their lives, 18-year-old Thomas begins his second semester in his senior year at an unfamiliar high school. His mother, Hannah, having recently been looking for employment to help pick things back up, stumbled upon a part-time job at Thomas's school as the head librarian. Desperate to keep his peers from learning who she is, Thomas tries his best to avoid the library and the rumors surrounding the "hot" new librarian lady. But after a teacher asks Thomas to venture to the library for the sake of his grades, one observant classmate notices more than they should. Spoiler - This game contains AVOIDABLE NTR/Corruption -

v0.1.2 (2026-10-12) Large technical update this time, next update coming by the end of this month (if not early next month). Adjusted time between texts so they appear faster (keep in mind, you can also adjust this yourself in the phone settings). Adjusted Caleb's dialogue so it's a little more formal (removed most of the "aha", "shii", sort of lines, but I kept a few where it still fit well enough). Adjusted some production bg renders (re-rendered for better clarity/world building...) Added more SFX throughout the story + adjusted current SFX to have better timing & volume for certain scenes. Added a phone gallery system (works global, so no matter which characters' phone you're currently viewing, you will still have access to all pictures unlocked). Added phone profile pictures for Thomas, Hannah, & Mark. Added Patreon/Itch.io links to main menu, prettied up certain UI elements (new font for choices, new UI for choices, new menu colors, added color gradient to main menu).
