Yeah... I've gotta say, it's a bit difficult trying to play the game when my character keeps throwing their hands up in front of the screen with that loud-ass stinger sound effect in the background every 5 seconds when the enemy hasn't even spotted me. It makes it all the more jarring when you're actually seen, because by that point, the sound effect stopped being helpful. I also think it's a huge design flaw to have this sound effect, period. I say this since it existing implies you have a chance to run away from the enemy. You don't. The enemy is literally the same speed as you. Once you're caught, you're done for; there's no outrunning the enemy- and as I'll mention later, it's not worth trying to either. This gameplay works in TJOC: Reborn because there are fixed collectible locations on a simple map where cutting corners actually buys you distance once you're spotted and even though you can't run forever, there's only 5 collectibles that can be grabbed in passing . Additionally, the animatronics have loud tells for you to know where they are. You know when you've been spotted because their footsteps accelerate noticeably. Here, on the other hand, there are 20 collectibles on a big map with no notable landmarks to assist in navigation, cutting corners doesn't buy you distance when spotted and the large amount of collectibles makes running from the enemy if spotted pointless, not only since you won't be able to find the last few easily due to the map size and lack of assistance in navigation, but some are hidden in small rooms which leave no space for trying to loop around the enemy once it follows you into one. Put simply, the 'final sprint' aspect of TJOC: Reborn when you're spotted but have 1/2 collectibles left which you have some idea of trying to find in time, adding intensity and enjoyability to the gameplay of that game, is completely non-existent here. The game could be improved if: - The amount of collectibles were cut in half, and possibly made unique instead of all being hearts. Maybe give them stronger glow too to make them pop out a bit more. Some collectibles, I couldn't see until I'd fully entered a room- something not always possible to do when being chased due to the risk posed by the level design as I've mentioned prior. - The map had better design in general; no dead-end points, more landmarks for navigation, maybe a Dark Deception map thingy if the 20 collectibles really have to stay. - The enemy was given audible footsteps, or the enemy's glow was brighter/more noticeable (the enemy has a blue glow on a blue map). - The stinger when spotted didn't include the hand flailing thing. Just have the stinger on it's own... And make it activate only when the enemy actually sees you, that's the most important part. I do like the idea of this game, it's just very rough as it currently stands. With a few tweaks, it could easily be good. It's not borderline unplayable is what I'm saying, hence the average score I'm giving it.
[Rating v1.0.1 Alpha] Given the developer's track record I wasn't expecting much, but hey, at least you can move in this game I beat the first level but since it was such a poor experience I didn't bother with the second First, the default settings suck. Couldn't get more than 2 frames without setting all the graphics to low. Even then, the audio slider doesn't work and there's no option to change the sensitivity, so have fun doing 360s every time you need to look a little bit to the left The gameplay loop has you wandering a maze with one of the monster girls inside. You need to collect 20 hearts to win. Sounds easy, but there's three problems: 1. Your flashlight is terrible The game has incredibly long and dark hallways and you bet you're not going to be able to see two feet in front of you with your flashlight with how bad it is. Problem being that the monster can see you from incredibly far away, so chances are if a chase starts you'll have no idea where they're coming from 2. There's no clear direction as to where you're supposed to go The map doesn't have very many spots that stand out so it's easy to get lost. Combine that with the tight hallway maze in the middle and the thousands of small dead ends on the edges and the map is tough to play in 3. There's no hints as to heart locations This is the worst offender. In the keybinds section, it says that M opens the map, but it doesn't do anything, so I'm assuming it hasn't been implemented yet. Without it, finding the last few hearts is incredibly challenging. I got the first 19 in a breeze but spent around 15 minutes aimlessly wandering to find the last one. To top it all of, your reward is a thrusting animation with 4 variants. No gallery either TLDR: Clunky gameplay, poor map design, frustrating objective, bad sex scene 2/5 stars in hopes that the game improves in the future, but knowing who made this game my hopes are not high
Starting with Benefits: Great Models, characters that look lovely (Sadly no animated scenes) and Map looks fine. Also as horror game of this type should, make your hart beat atleast for secound when getting loud noice of being chased. Now the worse part: Lack of content, only 2 characters without patreon and enoying gameplay of finding floating hearts, my recommentdation would be to add some sound que or MAP that is main part of next problem. Options are BROKEN, at least for sound, and many things that are showed in settings for keys binds, doesnt exist like said map that bind exist but doesnt work, same goes for crough, use and jump. Options for non-existing features. For current state of this game I cant give higher than 2/5
