The Gates of Stories is a Ren'Py visual novel by Goho Digitals, rendered with 3DCG art and built around sandbox-style choices, with adult themes including female domination. You play Bella, who leaves her village for a busy city, adjusts to urban life, and seeks new friends after parting from Emma and moving in with Cassandra. The story changes as NPCs interact and make choices of their own, so each run can differ from another player's.
Development is ongoing, and the current test build is v0.0.3 (+Gates & Rework), released March 20, 2025 for Windows, Linux, and Mac in English (MTL), uncensored. The latest update adds a Cassandra tease event, an inventory system, and a Gates system selectable from the start menu. On the romantic path, it introduces a Dolores magazine event, Shelly Shop as a new location, and purchasable journals, currently only Ai-made ones. No new erotic scenes were added.
Developer's description
Our protagonist, Bella, escapes the clutches of mediocrity and sets out for a new life, leaving her village behind and finding herself in the hustle and bustle of the big city. However, this is only the beginning; because Bella, while trying to adapt to the chaos and splendor of the big city, also tries to make new friends. Our character's adventure, who parted ways with her beloved friend Emma and started living with Cassandra, begins to shine in all its colors. Spoiler Our game has a unique feature that you will not see in other visual novel games. While you are making your daily plans and trying to improve your relationships with other characters, other characters interact with each other in the same way as you and change the fate of the game. Now, not only the player's choices, but also the NPCs' choices can completely change the flow of the story. Since the interactions between NPCs are randomly determined, it is likely that your game will be different from other players games. Now, with this unique experience go beyond mediocrity and enjoy being the director not just the spectator of a story! Our current version is in the test phase and many new features will be added in the later stages of the game. Please read developer notes.
