About The Shadow of Olympus

The Shadow of Olympus is a fantasy adventure RPG by gds21, built in HTML with AI CG art. You play Philtra, a young woman living in Olympia, a city shaped by gods, royalty, and political schemes. Her life becomes tied to divine intrigue, ambition, and personal desire as she tries to decide what she will sacrifice to pursue her fate.

The current v0.9 release is dated July 20, 2026, and remains an ongoing work for Windows, Linux, and Mac. It is written in English and uncensored. The latest update finishes the first storyline by making the Aphrodite, Ares, and godless Chapter 1 routes fully playable. These paths share the same world events and political structure, but offer different perspectives, allies, skills, and investigative approaches.

Developer's description

In the heart of Olympia, a city where immortals and royalty sate their insatiable appetites, Philtra, a young woman, finds her life forever altered by the whims of the powerful. Caught in a web of intrigue and desire, she becomes a pawn in the games of gods and kings. Her path to greatness is laid before her, but the cost of her ambition is steep and uncertain. As she traverses the perilous landscape of power, pleasure, and deception, Philtra must confront the depths of her own desires and determine the lengths she will go to, and the sacrifices she will make, to claim her destiny. Changelog

v0.9 Stats: 5,000,214 Characters 818,064 Words 1,204 Passages 1,178 Links Updates: 1) Chapter 1 of the godless path is now complete. In this storyline, Philtra leans into her investigative skills, uncovering the people behind Olympia's major conspiracies and the motivations driving them. Rather than relying on divine intervention, this route emphasizes observation, infiltration, political intrigue, and gradually piecing together the truth behind Aulon's downfall. 2) The first storyline is now complete with all three fully playable Chapter 1 routes: the Aphrodite path, the Ares path, and the godless path. While all three routes share the same major world events and political framework, each offers a vastly different perspective on those events through unique allies, skill sets, investigations, scenes, and outcomes, encouraging multiple playthroughs to fully understand the larger narrative. 3) The godless path places a much stronger emphasis on the history of Aulon, the politics surrounding the Olympian throne, the brothel's espionage network, the thieving guild, and the gradual uncovering of the conspiracy behind the massacre. Rather than simply witnessing events unfold, players are tasked with following leads, connecting clues, and discovering how seemingly unrelated people and incidents fit into a much larger political scheme. 4) All route drifts are now fully implemented, including every possible transition between the three Storyline 1 routes. Whether moving from Aphrodite to godless, Ares to godless, godless to Aphrodite, or godless to Ares, every permutation is now complete. These different paths establish distinct relationships, knowledge, motivations, and skill sets that carry forward into the same Chapter 2 route, allowing different versions of Philtra to arrive at the same destination through very different journeys. 5) Development has now shifted to Storyline 2, which will complete Chapter 1 and bring Shadow of Olympus to Version 1.0. This storyline revolves around Erythia and is by far the most ambitious part of the project so far. Players who have paid close attention to Erythia's appearances and actions throughout the different Storyline 1 routes will already have some clues about what is to come. Unlike the first storyline, Storyline 2 will provide far less handholding and expects players to understand the world's lore, recurring events, and character motivations established throughout the previous routes. Completing and understanding Storyline 1 is therefore highly recommended before beginning this final Chapter 1 storyline. 6) With this update, Shadow of Olympus has now grown to over 818,000 words across more than 1,200 passages. The completion of Storyline 2 in Version 1.0 will mark the completion of Chapter 1 in its entirety before development shifts fully toward Chapter 2. v1.8.3 Stats: 3,888,739 Characters 638,645 Words 1,138 Passages 1,112 Links Updates: 1) Chapter 1 of the Ares path is now complete. In this chapter, Philtra is drawn deeper into the violent and unstable undercurrents of Olympia, where new skills, brutal lessons, and dangerous alliances begin reshaping her future. Survival alone is no longer enough, and Philtra must learn how to endure, adapt, and carve a place for herself within a world that respects only strength. 2) The first storyline now contains two fully playable Chapter 1 routes: the Aphrodite path and the Ares path. While both routes share the same major world events and political framework, they differ heavily in tone, perspective, skillset, and outcome depending on the chosen divine alignment. 3) The Ares path places a much stronger emphasis on action, combat, brutality, and darker themes. Gladiatorial culture, military politics, slavery, and the realities of war play a central role in shaping Philtra’s journey throughout this storyline. 4) The Godless path remains incomplete and will continue to be expanded in a future update. Players are advised to keep a save during the eclipse sequence for future content. 5) Development for the next major update is currently focused on completing Chapter 1 of the Godless path before moving on to the second storyline with the Artemis and Athena paths. v1.8.2 Stats: 3,179,961  Characters 525,913  Words 1071   Passages 1046  Links Updates: 1) Chapter 1 of the Aphrodite path is now complete. In this chapter, Philtra learns new skills and is suddenly drawn into a dangerous conspiracy with serious consequences. She must rely on her growing abilities not only to survive but also to secure her place within unfolding events. 2) The story has been divided into two separate and rarely overlapping storylines. The first storyline contains the Aphrodite, Ares, and Godless paths. The second storyline contains the Artemis and Athena paths. 3) The previous version of the story has been clearly separated and preserved as a standalone, discontinued route. It can be accessed at the end of the prologue for players who wish to experience it with the proper expectations. 4) Chapter 1 for the remaining four paths has not yet been written. Each path will be developed and released individually, with one update dedicated to each. 5) During the eclipse scene, players are given an important choice to either remain on the Aphrodite path or diverge onto the Godless path. The Godless path is not yet complete and will be expanded in future updates. Players are advised to create a save at this point and return after the new content is released. v1.8.1 Stats: 2,580,853  Characters 431,164  Words 987   Passages 962   Links Updates: 1) Added a brand new Prologue to better set up the world, characters, and the MC’s childhood and upbringing. The Prologue contains fewer spicy scenes since the MC is a minor for most of this section. 2) Major backend changes were made, and most variables have been changed or removed. Because of this, old saves will no longer work. 3) The Prologue now ends with the MC being placed on one of five distinct paths: Ares, Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena, and Godless. 4) There is currently no Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 content for the Artemis, Athena, and Godless paths. These routes will be expanded in upcoming updates. 5) Chapters 1 and 2 of the Aphrodite and Ares paths remain mostly untouched. Since the Prologue was written retrospectively, there may be variable bugs and narrative inconsistencies. The old storylines are being kept as they are for now so players can continue to experience them until a full rewrite is done in a future update. V1.8 Stats: 2,412,857 Characters 401,914 Words 923 Passages 916 Links Updates: 1) Completion of chapter 2 of both the Ares and Aphrodite paths. 2) Changes to roadmap and whats to come next 3) Attempted a new non-linear storytelling style for the climax of the Ares path as an experimental attempt. Looking forward to the feedback on these scenes specifically. v1.4 Stats: 1,622,734 Characters 267,297 Words 715 Passages 707 Links Updates: 1) Revamped Visuals and Roadmap Reveal: I have infused the game disclaimer and future updates pages with some visual upgrades, hoping to make them look better than before. Now the placeholder page features a roadmap that unveils our short-term and long-term plans. 2) Bug Fix Shoutout: A massive thanks to the sharp-eyed user Krolarnin for spotting that pesky undefined variable error during save game loads. It's been fixed! At least I think so... 3) Aphrodite's Seductive Saga Expands: Continue on the quest as Philtra ventures to the opulent Kingdom of Lydia to forge a crucial alliance! I have woven in the legendary Midas golden touch myth, adding layers of greed, desire, and divine peril to this storyline. Philtra will meet a divine creature in her journey and can get a boon/curse. 4) Ares's Storyline: Continue on the quest as Philtra hones her skills in brutal training and rises as a gladiatrix! 5) Refined Terminology for Immersion: Updated key terms to better reflect the ancient Greek setting, using "polis" for city-states (e.g., Acropolis, Metropolis) to enhance historical authenticity and deepen the mythic atmosphere of the setting. V1.2 Changelog: Stats: 1200493 Characters 195908 Words 566 Passages 558 Links Updates: 1) Chapter 2 begins. I have streamlined the multiple storylines to be watered down to 2 major storylines, which occur side by side in terms of the timeline. 2) A new quest button in the sidebar has been added for easier tracking of the progress. The quest sheet will be visible once the player begins chapter 2. The decisions made throughout chapter 2 and the stats will determine the end of chapter 2. 3) Two major storylines: The post-trials chapter 1 ending has chapter 2 expanded to involve court intrigue and diplomacy, and the Ares ending for chapter 1 continues with gladiatorial battles for freedom. 4) You have the option to disable the background images in the settings if you prefer only text. v1.0: Stats: 910957 Characters 147636 Words 423 Passages 415 Links Updates: 1) Chapter 1 Conclusion: Wrapped up Chapter 1 with a major world event, introducing compelling narrative hooks to set the stage for Chapter 2. 2) Writing Style Evolution: Experimented with a different writing style to enhance immersion. I’ve strived to preserve the tone and word choices from earlier passages, but the shift may feel abrupt to some. Your feedback on this change is greatly appreciated! 3) Boons & Curses System: Introduced a new gameplay mechanic featuring boons and curses, which may be granted based on player choices and playthrough decisions. These effects activate toward the end of Chapter 1, adding depth to the narrative and gameplay. 4)Technical Updates: Added new variables and flags to support the boons and curses system. As this is my first game, there may be minor coding errors causing unexpected issues. Please share any bugs or feedback to help me improve the experience. v0.5 Stats: 804,473 Characters 130,059Words 368 Passages 361 Links Updates: 1) Visual Enhancements: Added customizable visual options in the settings menu, including font style, font size, and background opacity. 2) Character Avatars: Introduced character avatars for dialogue to add visual flair. 3) Text Corrections: Fixed spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in multiple passages. 4) Story Adjustments: Revised pacing by removing and adding passages and plotlines to improve the narrative flow. 5) New Variables: Added new gameplay variables, including God's Favor, skill sets, and character archetypes. 6) Character Sheet: Implemented a character sheet in the UI sidebar to track key details, including important characters. Partners are recorded only if they are significant to the overall story. 7) Story Progress: Completed the Trials of Aphrodite, bringing the story close to the end of Chapter 1. v0.2 Stats: 564,477 Characters 94,137 Words 260 Passages 256 Links Updates: 1) Added images in the sidebar and the background for better immersion (Images are 2 to 3 MB size, So the image loading time might differ) 2) changed some wordings in the passages to avoid repetition 3) Added different font styles and font sizes in the setting which the players can choose as per their preference 4) As per players feedback, changed the font style and color for dialogues for a better reading experience 5) Expanded the story on a couple of the routes on the mother side and 1 of the routes of the father side as well. Remaining routes are still WIP. Demo Stats: 292.149 Characters 49.965 Words 137 Passages 135 Links

AI written over padded slop. So much verbal fluff with no information. More words does not equal good writing. If you wanna read 1000 lines of dialogue with barely anything happening this game is for you.

Although I kinda appreciate the story, I have to points out some odd flaws in the writing that annoys me so much when reading it. There is an overabondance of repetition of the same sentences constructions and adjectives that is…

I like this story. I hope the author doesn't abandon his game, as unfortunately happens with many authors here. Of all the characters, I like Clytemnestra the most. It's a shame you can't take her side. I would like to…
