A Promise Best Left Unkept is a Ren'Py dating sim by Hangover Cat, framed as a side story and drawn with animated 2D CG. You play as Harry, a man whose promise to his girlfriend helps him land an important business deal and move toward promotion. That success also brings a high-school bully back into his life as a representative for a subcontracting firm. The story centers on cheating, corruption, and netorare.
The current build is the released v1.0.0 dated February 2, 2026, not a demo. It runs on Windows, Linux, Mac, and Android, in English, without censorship. The latest changelog says this version adds the Aya Edition's last ending, a bonus extra that completes the promised four endings. The creator calls that ending messy but still worth including.

It's kind of hard to express how messy I feel this last ending is. I don't think it was worth all the trouble for it. Certainly not the money it cost to do it. But I had said there would be four endings. I had also written it in its entirety. So I thought I might as well do it. But yeah. As the "last ending" of Aya Edition, this is… ugh…
I did the same thing with The Edge Of at the time, where I had an idea of something fun to do, so I wrote an additional ending simply for the heck of it. For The Edge Of, it worked surprisingly well… but not for this…
Anyway, I can go on and on, but that still wouldn't make a difference. I need to release it at some point. I did say it was a "bonus" ending, so I guess it's not that bad if we look at it that way.
Don't get excited by the numbers. Lots of CGs are very simple.
