Even in Sorrow, a Black Lily Blooms is a Ren'Py adult visual novel by WaifusAndSyrup, presented with 2D CG art. You play Mary Miller, a young woman who stopped feeling excitement after her parents died in a car accident and has spent years going through the motions while her brother worries about her. An old friend sends her a strange hypnosis video, awakening feelings she thought were gone and starting a story about female domination, mind control, and lesbian relationships.
The current build is the Carol Update, released February 9, 2025, and development is ongoing. It runs on Windows and Mac in English, with no censorship. This update moves the project to Ren'Py, which may introduce new bugs and missing interface features compared with earlier VNM builds. It also adds Carol's routes. Future public updates are planned mainly for bug fixes, typo fixes, and interface changes, while the eventual full release will include harem variants, a bad ending, and a true ending, and will be sold when complete.
Developer's description
After losing her parents at a young age in a car accident, Mary Miller loses all motivation to do anything. Even after her brother, who looks after her, continues to worry about her well-being, Mary goes through her days simply waiting for time to pass. Years later, Mary finally realizes that she has stopped feeling any sort of excitement for anything at all. Just when she begins to question why she's even alive, she receives a strange video involving hypnosis that was sent to her from an old friend. The video stirred feelings inside her that she thought were long gone, and time begins to move for her again.
