Now & Then
is a story of Jack (or a name of your choosing) Brooks, a widower who lives with his adopted teenage daughter, Carol, during the aftermath of a global pandemic. Throughout the story, players witness the string of events that finds Jack adopting Carol and how they grow into a family unit before the collapse of civilized society. Inspired by Stephen King’s
The Stand
and numerous zombie movies and books,
Now & Then
is a tale of survivors learning to cope with life as it comes to them.
Spoiler
While the present is filled with tense moments as the Brooks family struggles with challenges of the new normal, including bandits, the infected, and their own dwindling supplies, memories of the past provide a slice-of-life window as Jack tries to learn how to be a new father to a teenage girl.

Its an alright game , the girls are lovable and the scene, while repetitive, are somewhat interesting and well made. It just a normal game no crazy story can t say it was the best. lots of doing nothing and boring stuff. A lot of plots that don t get answered and a lot of potential to do better. I ve played it all maybe someone enjoyed it more then me, but the whole seeing past scenes all the time kinda messes with your perspective of the game and where in time you are. I wish there was more interaction between the girls and for it to have a better ending ( at least it was a happy one ). Thats about it nothing special could have been a lot more. 3/5

Great story-telling/writing. I treated this more of as a novel than an erotic game. Actually skipped through most of the sex scenes to get more into the story development. Really well put together. I really appreciate the effort put into completing a game worth playing. Kudos to the devs and supporters.

After replaying this game, I can confidently say it’s still the best zombie AVN of 2026 and perhaps even the developer’s finest work to date. The other completed title doesn’t fully win me over, the pseudo-sandbox structure and heavy-handed theme feel uneven, and the one currently in development doesn’t look especially promising... though, to be fair, it’s too early to judge without seeing the final product. For now, this is unquestionably the developer’s strongest AVN. The only real drawback is the linear narrative. If you want different endings, you’re practically forced to reject Carol and personally, I just can’t bring myself to do that. The storytelling is well done, capturing the characters’ tension and emotional weight with precision. A second playthrough is worth it: it reveals alternate perspectives that deepen the story. Character development is handled with care. While it’s not flawless, there are plot gaps and moments that could’ve been used more effectively... buuuuut no other zombie AVN currently matches the atmosphere so completely. Honestly, just for that alone, it’s the best, and I don’t see anyone beating it anytime soon. You’d need a writer with real talent to top it… and let’s be real, those are rare around here.

A good post-apocalyptic story with some meat. You're going to notice some plot holes but overall this is a a well written story with good pacing and character development. Each character becomes a person you care about which is what the best VNs need to stick. Absolutely worth the time if you want something more than just fap material.

This was a pleasant surprise. Started it with no expectations, and N&T turned out to be a great experience. If you're looking for a game just to goon, this might not be the best candidate despite the sheer number of lewd scenes. But for anyone looking for an excellent post-apocalyptic setting, a solid story, and unusual, challenging relationship dynamics - it's a must. Can't wait to try other works by ILSP. PROS: This game has a SOUL. You can feel the dread, you can feel the struggle, and you genuinely care about the characters. A slow burn for sure, but certainly a fitting formula for this setting. The characters are intriguing, deep and their development is quite satisfying. Top-notch immersion. The environments are well-made and thought out, which is especially impressive considering it's an HS1 game. Honestly, I prefer this over most recent Daz works which might look more realistic, but tend to lack the design direction. The music selection is quite strong - the motives repeat throughout the story, but work really well nonetheless and set up the mood nicely. Dialogues are done just right and quite engaging (outside the lewd scenes, will address this below) - haven't really skipped any blocks, read everything from start to finish without losing interest. The ending itself is decent - I felt half-empty and half-satisfied after finishing the game. There seems to be some sequel potential, but personally I don't think it's necessarily needed. NEUTRAL: The animations aren't particularly the strongest, but it's forgivable as the statics really push the limits of HS1. Branching could be a little more extensive but also more forgiving at times, there are some variable-locked or score-locked decisions, most of which are reasonable, but some (especially towards the end) - seem pretty rushed. It's a really long game - beware. It justifies the playtime, but be prepared for a solid 30 hours of gameplay. CONS: There are some good lewd secenes, but most could disappear and I wouldn't feel any difference. They seem to be lacking the same creative process that made the environments stand out. Dialogues are repetitive and turn cringy after seeing them for the Nth time, SFX are not good, and the overall diversity could use some improvement. All in all - the atmosphere carries hard, and while it's certainly not a game for everyone due to its pacing, themes and age, it's definitely worth trying even if you're new to the genre. Overall score: 83/100

Honestly it's a good surprise. The story is nice and characters interesting, it's not amazing or anything, but I had a good time, especially once they leave the first house. One thing I especially like are the choices, they aren't particularly great but there isn't too much nor too little, and they blend well with the story, not being only bang her yes/no like some AVN do. My only real problem is probably with MC at the start. First about his "dark" side, kinda kill the narration I feel, but it's dropped pretty fast so it's ok. And how he have 0 survival skills and doesn't appear to learn anything about survivability even months after the catastrophe happened. I really don't know how he could survive more than a week before dying from either an attack or food poisoning, he should have definetly tried to get some books about self-sufficiency and survivalism. It's so strange considering his daughter's friend father is a fan of survivalism, he never learned a thing or two like how to preserve food outside a fridge or how to manage lights and sound. But all in all once the story progress those point start to fall in the background and got more immersed in the story.

one of the best games around, it got me surprised that I'm in more for the plot than for the actions. the harem doen't feel forced even if I would have loved to decide more specifically the kind of bond with each character. one downside it that from chapter 20 onwards I found it very repetitive and boring, no real decisions, more like a kinetic novel.

Review of Now & Then [v1.00.0] ... ... as a game: * Great story. It's interesting, original and has some plot twists. * Great dialogs. * The game is long. It has 25 chapters + different endings. Plus all extra content after you complete the game. * Has music and sounds but no voices. * No bugs, perfect performance. ... regarding its erotic side: * Character design is great. A good variety of girls, different body types and each character has their own personality that you gradually get to know through the story and dialogue . * Scenes are good. All of them are vanilla, almost all vaginal sex, but there are other fetishes too. * Decent animations. * It has music, sounds and moans (no fully voiced). * Has Gallery mode. It has alternative scenes, you can start from a specific chapter after you completed the game, review the endings etc. A masterpiece who anyone in this forum should give it a try. The story is very interesting as it remind us the pandemic we suffered IRL and it's like a "what if" with a lewd emphazise. The worst I can find in this game are the simple animations but the game has almost 6 years already, so it's forgettable.

Been playing this one off and on for awhile and its just not for me, I see its getting high praise but when I read the reviews doing so my opinion is the complete opposite of what others are saying. The renders and art style look so bad, I can't get behind this art style and thats a major thing that puts me off continuing The models aren't that great The writing isn't great Its just meh to each there own but its not for me

Now & Then was one of the first AVNs I played. It sets a high bar for me. Are there nitpicks I could dredge up, sure. I can feel how much I enjoyed a game when I'm bummed it's over outside of the attractive characters. I love the cast. The harem aspect isn't goofy. It's a shame the Dev didn't make more games from what I can tell. Anyways, if someone reads this in the future I'll highly recommend this game. Personally I enjoy an AVN every once in a while that isn't a hardcore concentration of debauchery. Just a charming zombie apocalypse story with some sex in it. Take care.
JRelengod2026-01-19★★★★★
I got fairly deep into this one and I hate to say it but I just did not understand all the praise. The pacing was slow and the tone was inconsistent. It was very very hard to relate to the father figure when anything sexual happens with the daughter because of just how much dark buildup there is. It suffers from the porn problem of like "ok we have a serious emotional story but now we need sex" and it just makes me feel really gross when that stuff happens and I'm really really not the kinda person to be bothered by stuff like that much at all. Anyway thats not really the big issue, I do genuinely think the writing here is extraordinarily plain, it feels like someone who thinks they're saying something profound but it comes off like a teenager waxing about philosophy and life's meaning. So much of the game is spent with the MC monologuing to himself and acting like what feels like a child's understanding of a tough guy. It just feels so juvenile and I seriously don't know how anyone could stomach any of it as anything more than mindless garbage. Its just a terribly written game, there's far far too much writing and almost all of it is meaningless and again the MC is just the worst kinda dude it just feels like a middle-aged man's self insert, an edgy and jaded guy who always talks like a straight shooter but it just feels like I'm reading some bad erotic fiction equivalent to 50 shades of Gray but for middle-aged men. I thought about giving this more than 1 star because there's clearly effort here and I respect that, seriously not a lot of devs put effort into things and even if its trash I want to be clear that I appreciate that the author did try and clearly put in work here. That being said I just can't give it more than 1 star, it just wasn't good to me in really any way. Still I'm glad so many people like it, if they enjoy it thats good, hopefully the dev's next project will be an improvement, if they plan on making anything next.

Now & Then. A game that should be way more focused on the "Now" instead of the "Then". This game is rough to recommend and for that reason I would recommend NOT trying it. The game has sub-par graphics and even worse animations, the sex too in this game is bland and vanilla, the only interesting tag in this game is the Incest and even that it has to hide away from by being an adopted daughter that you adopted when she was in her early teens. This game is clearly more focused on its story than its sexual content, but even that falls short. I will admit, the first part of the story got me hooked by having a nice blend of the "Now & Then" story decision. As it introduced characters before they even showed up in the main story, leading for me to get attached to them even before they were in an apocalypse. But the "Then" part gets in the way after they get settled in the school, as we already know about the characters, their traits, and their likes and dislikes. We do not need another 5 or 10 min backstory about what we already know about the characters. The story also suffers from a lack of an antagonist/ tension. As the zombies are dispatched easily, the leader of a pack of bandits died, leaving no Antagonist, having no tension or interesting parts in the story. The other problem is the lack of choice, most decisions don't impact the grand arc as only one or two scenes gets changed. And you are romancing the characters boils down to: "Get closer to her" or "Do not get closer to her". So once again, I will not recommend this game. As it's bland, unoriginal and drags on too long in its story.

Positives- Impressive story Unique Concept Perfect dialogue deliveries Realistic pacing Unstable but Often Great H-Scenes Well calculated Environment Awesome Transitions Aging is also good. Music is not bad. Negatives- Poor Quality Renders. Not a good UI. (optimized althou) some unnecessary incidents stretched out. This GEM of a game needs to be REMASTERED
ubira2025-11-30★★★★★
The rendering might have been good for the time it was released, but for today's standards, a good remastering would be beneficial. - Zombie apocalypse with minimal encounters with zombies, where they are barely an obstacle and resources are hardly a problem. - The MC's internal monologue reaches an intense and extremely high level, almost to the point of schizophrenic, to the point where a second persona appears beside the MC to talk to himself, even in the middle of the day and in front of a tragically dead woman, the MC engaging in monologues, dialoguing about random things with himself. - MC is very uptight and full of morals, to the point of not even letting his own adopted daughter call him dad, "but she's not my biological daughter." The girl always had a crush on MC, but after some unrequited displays of affection, MC started distancing himself from Li since her adolescence, preferring to let other people raise his daughter rather than himself. And distancing himself to the point of not even letting her sit next to him on the sofa to watch a movie so that there wouldn't be any intimate touching, and with that, Li preferred to spend more time away from home than with MC. In short, time wasted on moral issues, instead of enjoying the little time they would have together. It seems that the MC follows the same recipe as the MC from the developer's other game... and the world-building focuses more on psychological issues than on an actual zombie apocalypse. I came to test this game because of the high reviews, thinking that the MC would be a little more different and daring, and the game world would be more of a survival game than a drama about living in a pandemic. However, it seems that games will always follow this same recipe...

The stepfather/daughter dynamic made me a little uncomfortable initially however other than that an extremely good game. Excellent story with deep fleshed out characters, graphic are a tad outdated but animations and lewd scenes are very well done. Does a really good job in the zombie trope can highly recommend. Music and ambience is also a strong point.

This is probably one of the longest VN on the site. Just decided to check it out of curiosity. And then all of a sudden I was spending like three days reading through this VN, like a retarded moth being drawn to a flame. It's an peculiar VN because the ero-scenes weren't particularly interesting. Sure they were there but they weren't outstanding. Like on one hand I'd sort of preferred if there were even less and were thus more impactful, but on the other hand virtually all of them were skippable and there wasn't going to be massive backlash for skipping them. Writing was good. It was consistent, but other than for minor mistakes I don't have anything bad to say about it. Character actions felt consistent for the most part, the world logic was mostly consistent. Spoiler Though, it was admittedly rather funny that writer/MC acknowledges that there's so many characters in play here that even MC is struggling to keep track. Technical execusion was good. Stock voices, nothing too interesting there, sounds were okay. Might be interested in playing around with Ren'py and seeing what kind of fun things could be pulled off, in regards to audio engineering and the scenes. Graphics were okay, other than rare animation error there were no issues with textures or models. Obviously visual quality got better as the VN progressed. Was it absolutely perfect? No. It had minor flaws. Worst of all, it made me feel sappy, which feels awful. Would recommend, though I will not touch this VN again due to writing being that good. Overall, it was a wonderful VN and it's giving me that itch of having a go at making a VN myself.

Without question one of the best avn I have played. The zombie apocalyptic story is right up my alley, not too dark or too light, just perfect. The mc is great. He is calm, collected and extremely dependable. The LIs are great. My favorite was Alice. Highly recommended

It successfully portrays the zombie apocalypse atmoster. I can't say that I liked the looks of the female characters very much, but they were all good in different aspects. Animations were good for a honey select game level (I assume the game was made with honey select) The story started well, continued in an average way and ended. It could have been better, but I believe it is a game that deserves 5 stars in total.
