The Velan Reach: Book One is an adult visual novel by Naughty Road, built in Ren'Py with animated 3D CG art. It uses a steampunk science fiction world with fantasy elements. It fixes speakers, typos, and images, refreshes cover, concept, and menu art, adds preview images before credits, improves Steam overlay and Steam Deck support, clarifies walkthrough settings, removes unused files, and merges Steam demo updates.

The Velan Reach is an adult Visual Novel set in a unique steampunk sci-fi setting, in which you play the role of a humble academic who, together with his lovely assistant, is invited to join a noblewoman's expedition into the unknown and rediscover the long-lost location of the cradle of humanity. But you soon find yourself pulled into a web of intrigue as you get to know the other members of your expedition, each of whom have their own reasons for being there and motivations for interacting with you. Trailer and +Info Spoiler Visiting strange and exotic new places, you will meet a host of people (including aliens and robots) as you deal with the events that unfold during your journey. Along the way, you will get to know them better, learn about their reasons to be there, become quite intimate with some of them if you so desire, and face challenges that may force all of you to rethink your original goals and ambitions.

Chapter 1 - v0.1.4 NO NEW STORY CONTENT! If you played chapter 1 already, there's no need to get this. Changes version from 1.0.0 to 0.1.4 (because Steam started allowing early access for NSFW again, and this better reflects the fact that the game is under development). Fixes several wrong speakers. Fixes a ton of typos (and probably introduces a few new ones). Fixes several images. Updates cover art, concept art, and main menu backgrounds. Adds "what's to come" images before the credits section. When steam is active, steam links now open in overlay instead of browser. Clarifies some parts of the walkthrough settings section. Adds better out of the box steam deck support (still work to be done). Removes unused files. Merges updates to Steam demo back into main branch. Updates wheedling section. Adds a first draft of audio descriptions (linked to self-voicing ('v'), in future, will also provide an option to toggle without self voicing). Makes menu hints consistent. Fixes issue where users that skip the Rhowehna encounter aren't prompted to provide a custom name for the MC.
