Backpacker: South America is an adult visual novel and dating sim by Wolkos Interactive, using an Others engine and 2D CG art. You play a young man saving for a gap year and traveling from Caracas to Rio. He must manage money, jobs, card battles, and collectibles while dialogue choices move him toward the next border or keep him in the moment. Its themes include a male protagonist, romance, and sandbox play.
The current build is v0.11, released November 21, 2025, and development is ongoing. It runs on Windows in English and is uncensored. The latest update adds small fixes and updated character portraits, including a work-in-progress portrait for Emily’s father, Gio. The v0.1 initial release covered the intro up to getting on the plane.
Developer's description
A young man looks to get away from it all. He's been saving for his gap year, and in the morning he's about to embark on a journey that will change his life. Travel from the chaos of Caracas to the beaches of Rio in an adult visual novel. Chase romance, uncover conspiracies. Battle with cards, work jobs, collect... collectibles, and work out how to get from A to B without running out of money. Dialogue is driven by making choices, and every choice moves you closer to the border—or gets you stuck in the heat of the moment.
