Cocklemouth Village

Review as of v0.5 Gotta say I actually found this pretty funny. It's not high art by any means but it got a good few chuckles out of me. The plot is pretty simple but the characters are reasonably interesting and don't seem like cardboard cutouts which is nice. It's absurd in places, intentionally so, and maybe I was just in one of those moods, but a lot of the humor did land for me. There are a few sex scenes and, although the pacing of the narrative seems good generally, a bit more teasing and build up to the sex would've been nice - there's a lack of eroticism when things happen too fast in this medium. And yeah, I get that the bad grammar is supposed to show they are regional Brits, but "was" instead of "were" is grating to read honestly. It doesn't translate well without hearing the accompanying accents. Definitely worth a try if you're in the mood for some light-hearted fun.

PROS The visuals are nothing groundbreaking. Don't expect it to be on the same level of the more highly funded games on this site. Average renders and animations . As long as there is no pixelation with the renders, im happy. Its moderately funny. It doesnt tryhard like some of the other comedy VNs where they insert a pun or joke into every sentence and end up being lame. Its moderately funny. As 80% of the games on this site are based in America, I appreciate the unique UK setting and themes, this also translates to the manner of speech. Decent amount of sex scenes for a game of its length. CONS No much choice besides saying Yes or No to sex scenes. Yes or No to non-canon dream scenes. I'm kinda not a fan of the dream scenes every night, just fetishized non-canon sex scenes that are awkwardly inserted for tags or fanservice. He could've used that development time to advance the plot or something more worthwhile IMO. Story didnt really draw me in like other games have. Its just a chef that gets conned into working for a chinese restaurant, thats pretty much it. Now I know this game is trying to be more down to earth and lowkey, no crazy sci-fi or superhero plots but its a lot less interesting than some of the other Slice of Life games I played. I found myself tempted to just ctrl skip through some parts.

It's not a 5 but more like a 4. I just decided to improve the rating because some people are either grammar nazzis OR english is not up at that level for them. (BTW english ain't my 1st language too, just saying) Story: Absolute british comedy gold mine. I don't know how to put it, but the whole MC's demeanor is what i've seen possibly only in british comedy. Ordinary bloke with stoic like reactions (with sarcasm) meeting insane situations but mostly reacting to it as if sipping cup of tea. IF you expect serious plot here? Please don't and don't be mad. It's comedy AVN. Will there be serious development with LI's? Maybe but the point here is comedy. The language use is not authors grammatical inability but humor of itself. 0.5v Ending (point where that version ended) is comedy gold. (If you play as a man slut) i.e. Anna saying she can't, i even felt sad for the lad. Also quite important, this AVN truly gives of UK vibes. Those who watched UK media (at least prior to menace DEI) or been there certainly would understand. Visuals: Generally? Quite nice, LI's look gorgeous, animations are non-existent but that is not a fap AVN that's more entertainment AVN with +18 content. You can of course fap but i do not think the main objective was for people to fap. For me visuals are less important as long as they pass a certain threshold. And it definitely passed that mark. (As long as it doesn't hurt my eyes or isn't throwing me away constantly by the dated visuals or grainy images.) Overall: Give it a go as long as you don't expect some serious drama or endless fap material. IF you have problems with the use of english i.e. any deviation from standard looks wrong to you, sit this one out on the bench please.

Cocklemouth Village [v0.4] Story is ok, I think. Nothing groundbreaking, but it works. Choices don’t matter for the story itself, only which LI you are pursuing. The writing has some funny parts, but not overly like I guessed it would be after reading some other comments. But hey, I’m not that good in English and especially not in colloquial English, so maybe some jokes just flew over my head. MC is faceless… pun intended. I get that the dev wants players to connect with the MC by not showing his face, but I still don’t like it. On top of that I find him rather boring. He has a sarcastic personality and can express that in comments, cool. Looking for depth in said personality? In vain. Uncool. The LIs are visually distinct and gorgeous. I like! They also show more personality than the MC. Renders in general, and especially the model textures (including males), are pretty nice/detailed. H-scenes want to cater to a wide audience but first of all lack a good narrative and are too short. I also didn’t find them well placed into the story, more like filling a hole. They didn’t feel real and definitely lacked the needed connection to the LI due to missing character development. Especially the femdom/maledom stuff with the two ladies and the dream scenes (if you decide to have them) felt off. Animations… not so good. They are stiff and kind of boring. Music is repetitive but fits the scenes. SFX, yes. Moaning, no, iirc. Overall a pretty average VN. For me it’s between 3 and 4 stars. Since I’m a generous soul, I’ll round up to 4.

Probably the funniest game on this site. A level of humour which is quite unique. Sexy stuff is good and works well but it's the actual story that keeps you involved. Instead of forcing kinks into the story they are kept skipable. Perfect balance of cute women and story. Can't wait for more!

Ignore the grammar police who obviously don't understand English as it is used in the UK. The use of 'was' instead of 'were' is quite normal. This little gem is laugh out loud funny with clever puns and references to a wide range of things. The Dev has even got the character's gait to be a mick take. Finding assets to give the feel of small town England is hard enough but the Dev has done it. The girls are gorgeous, and there's a variety of them. The situations have a real feel to them and Mr Snuggles is hilarious. It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud with a VN but Duppyc has hit the giggle button. Cleverly written with wit and intelligence. Decent graphics and a well thought through basic storyline, and no, I'm not an AI drone. My only problem was choosing which of the young ladies to romance. Well done mate, I'm sold!

The piss ignorant grammar gave me a headache especially the use of was. They was, we was, them was, and so forth. As DeeOhhGee mentioned, the mc is an idiot and not in a good way. I'm not sure why dev's like to make mc's who are wimpy and stupid. Certainly should go on the ignore list.

I got to the opening of the restaurant, and decided to quit playing, then I thought, maybe it gets better. I am unhappy to say... It does not get better. I understand this is supposed to be a comedy or parody... but that would mean it's funny. This is not funny. The MC is an ass and a moron, and the rest of the people in the VN are not worth getting to know. Most of the games/VNs like this get put in the Nope category, but because you included the dreams instead of spending that time to make the actual story better, that has moved it into the Crap category. I hope you get a chance to fix the issues with the story, since the premise is not bad, just poorly executed/written.

Mr. Bean, Monthy Pyton, and so many more and now Cocklemouth Village. I understand many US people will have hard time understanding some humor in this game but as an European I love it. Seems some are upset that a girl has a Hippo as a pet and call it her dog. It´s a game and normally a guy won´t get to sleep around like most MC does either in real life. I congratulate the DEV for the first part of the game and I hope it will keep getting better and better.
