If you are like me, you get excited every time you see a completed game here on F95 Zone. A 3D one? Sorry, an Adult-3D-dungeon crawler-RPG-crafting-open world game like this one? Rarer than a big tiddy goth gf without daddy issues. So, as soon as I saw Mazex (V1.02), I got excited and decided to give it a whirl. Man, what a mistake that was. Leaving humor aside, which means I suffered too many blows to my psyche to deflect the pain with humor anymore, this game is a mishmash of flipped assets that makes you wonder if the discrepancy you are experiencing with the art style is even possible to achieve in another universe. Truly, it makes you wonder whether the difference between the mobs themselves can be greater, or if this is the absolute limit. I'm not even talking about the NPCs you interact with, just the monsters you fight. It is painfully obvious that this "game" is a haphazardly built hot mess in between long hiatuses, updating just enough not to get reported on Patreon, giving just enough so people won't riot. I couldn't finish this completed game. Because loading a save crashes your game, finishing the boring and copy-paste mazes crashes your game, loading a save spawns the monsters you just killed kiting through the whole darn maze/planes, and you're trying not to get hit, since the weakest one can 3-tap you. The level of difficulty you experience is downright criminal. Hopping onto Elden Ring after playing this will feel like a breeze. Because it is not just about difficulty, it is how clunky it is, how unbalanced it is, how bad the design is, the horrible hit detection, and this and that and this and that. God... The more you play it, the more you realize that it is rushed, it was unplanned, and it was never meant to be a "completed" game. Not a passion project, rather, a cash grab from optimists who like that kind of genre. Here is my conclusion of the game after spending 3 hours of my life on it, which could have been spent watching paint dry instead and would have been more fun. I was just desperately trying to find a redeeming factor to justify giving it a try for so long. This game is TERRIBLE. Buggy. Broken. Tedious. Underwhelming. Unrewarding. Unbalanced. Impossibly difficult. Marred. Soulless. Boring. Do not play unless you enjoy torturing yourself.
This game was labeled as Complete, but it feels and runs more like an Alpha. Accidentally finished the game after completing the second maze. Had to load a previous save to look for more content, but with no luck. - The Mazes are simple 2D mazes pasted in 3D, it feels like a waste of time going through them. - UI is bad, non-intuitive and no explanation given. - World is too big, empty, and when you zoom out on your map, your pc will die (it feels like the entire world get loaded) - No marking for quests, items, NPC, etc. You'll be walking around for hours trying to find them. - Combat is bare bones and clunky. - Animations and Sex scenes ... makes flash animation look godlike in comparison. Even i could do it better ... in PowerPoint. Game is a good concept or test project, but the delivery is bad. Do not recommend.
Do i really need to say why this game is bad? Map are unnecessarily big. So many places are generally empty with nothing to do. Developer doesn't understand the difference between a 3d maze and a 2d maze. Please learn how to create proper maze before creating game. No easy access GUI. Everything are just put into inventory. Is it that hard to do some key bindings? Only a few signs to indicate directions. There are basically 0 effort placed in to make exploration enjoyable. I am too lazy to even explain any more since the developer is already this lazy to put in any effort.
- The world is too big, and when you open a map, your pc will die (the map is 3D, and when you zoom out, it will use a lot of GPU ) - no quest marking (like quest mark in Skyrim) - No marking for quest item, NPC, key your will lost from walking around a world (1 hour runing for noting) - axe it's useless Only 1 quest uses this item. Trees in world map can't be cut by axe - Running camera head-bobbing if you use cheat "speed hack" in game your will trow up - no free camera in the sex scene - sometimes, when killing or gathering, an item drops deep into the ground/wall, and you can't take that item - Trees and rocks can't be gathered, which means you will be losing a lot of time finding bunch of trees from the ground and rocks has the "mine" option - bug
Essentially broken. Yet another overly ambitious open world project that is doomed to fail. Even the inventory doesn't work. Models have inconsistent art, some of the models are just bad, the world is too big and empty, and it's just plain boring. I also saw no ways of doing any sex stuff if that's what you are interested in, I was too busy re-sorting my inventory by trying to drop things because my item selected was off by two inventory slots to the right. It COULD become good, but I have extreme doubts it will go much of anywhere.
I am blown away by this game. My basic description: An open-world, first-person game where you talk to female NPCs, do quests for them and have sex with some of them. The combat is fairly generic but the enemies skills range from "never hit you" to ones that take a big chunk out of you no matter how you attack them. The game has gathering and crafting. The crafting system is basic and problematic. Some recipe items are so rare that you will never have enough of those items. Others are locked behind recipes that are very difficult to find. Some quests are broken and the number of quests is pretty small. The H-scenes are designed for VR so it's all first-person POV with very little camera flexibility. There are only a few different NPCs/Enemies you can have sex with but they are very easy to find and they will give you an H-scene any time you run across them. Cow women require you to feed them grass in your off-hand until they are pleased while fox women require meat. Both are plentiful so you get plenty of opportunities for H-scenes. I like this system. You can mine ore for crafting and crystals to enable the fast-travel points. The reason I am giving it 5 stars even with my complaints is because I am having a blast playing it. Since starting it I've played nothing else.
Played what little content there was. The question that kept coming to mind was "why should I care?", and I expect this game will never answer that question. Sure, I can pick up mushrooms, sticks, bones from dead skeletons, but there must be something more than wandering around engaging in uninspired fights in order to pick up bones and rocks. Extremely generic.
Can't wait to see what gets added to the game, love the crafting and exploring games and this looks like it will be all that plus with sex added in. Love that when you kill a warrior you can do things to her.... Amazing job keep it up. 1 idea is adding Auto Save later on, sucks to start all over again if you forget to save. and also to show how many arrows you have on the screen when bow is equipped.
