About Merely a Menial
Merely a Menial is a text-based HTML game by not really real, using 2D CG art. You play an orchard farmer whose peaceful life with a new spouse is shattered when beasts and demons overrun the village. Survivors are forced into slavery under a Lord, and you must choose whether to seek release by pleasing him or endure a path of submission in a cruel empire. It blends dating sim and romance with sandbox freedom, offering multiple protagonists and choices that shape your fate.
The current build is v0.2.1, dated October 31, 2024, with ongoing development for Windows, in English, and uncensored. The latest changelog adds a quick start option to skip the intro, new heart events for love candidates including a rival, a lover, and Maddie, plus more jobs. Cerca now acts like a sugar daddy, requiring you to win his favor and be useful. A new October NPC, the Librarian, values intelligence and may let you assist his research. Other characters have new dialogue about ongoing events, and the first ending for The Rebel Storyline is available, tied to becoming Kuruth's toy.

Blood was spilled, deaths were promised. Those who survived, including you, were made a slave with their lives in the Lord's hand... Will you please the Lord, to convince them to let you go? Or you will slowly be degraded into submission within the ruthless empire of demons and beasts where human rights do not matter? See what the world will throw at you. Your fate is in your hands. You alone could rule this life. The choice is yours.
