Of Birds and Bees

I don't understand the appeal of this game. This game is 90% padding and 10% adult content. And the majority of the adult content doesn't even involve the mc. Dev should just scrap the adult content and put the game up on Steam as a SFW kinetic novel. The story is all over the place and makes little to no sense. Unique/Different =/= good.

It's a little hard to rate this game, because there are things about it that I think are very good. The eldritch horror story is actually very creepy, and the wasp queen is a pretty terrifying entity, and the general atmosphere does a good job of making you feel uneasy. There is also a porn game about bimbo's being corrupted by ugly bastards and submitting to perversion, which if its your cup of tea is great. The problem is these two things clash and fight over each other for attention in this already bloated game, and so as a result, neither feel that great. The horror especially suffers at the mid point, where it exchanges the fear of the unknown in favor of never ending exposition dumps and a never ending carousel of random supernatural characters who are all less interesting than the Wasp Queen. The porn seems more and more disengaged from the main story as the increasing roster of characters fight for screen time and scenes. That or the characters die and the porn routes simply end because the author wanted to write more pseudo Norwegian folk gobbledeygook. I don't want to seem like I am just dunking on this game, as I do genuinely think there is a really interesting horror story here, that genuinely makes you want to know what happens next. I would also say this is Disciple of Virginia's best game, but I do think if you play this and Holly Smiles at the End you will realize they are slaves to tropes of their own creation which harm the player experience. Both games have a super powerful eldritch creature that the main cast is powerless against , a talking animal that has magic powers but is actually pretty useless, the same fat ugly bastards that are comically perverted, yet no one bats an eye at their antics, fever dreamworlds of supernatural confetti, and an absolute obsession with Norweigan/Netherlands folklore backstories for every character that are usually exposited by a thoroughly unlikable Barbie doll. In short, the game is not great, but I do think that if Virginia either edits themselves, or gets someone else to help them fine tune their ideas, I think they would actually have the potential to create something that is really impressive.

For those who have not played this game, I will say right away that the genre can be defined as perverted aesthetics. For this reason, the rating of the game is very indicative. The plot of the game is difficult to understand for an unprepared person, because it lacks the linearity familiar to most players. The graphics are quite decent, and given the high aesthetics, one can say very hot. This is a challenge game where the developer does not adapt to the player but leads him along the paths of several realities. If you want to try something truly wonderful, start playing this game. Then put it aside and return to it again and again, discovering new horizons for yourself.

I have truly enjoyed this one. Story It is convoluted, and sometimes annoying to follow because of the wall of text, unless you into reading long narratives about distorted fairy tales about vile wicked things that bite, main or enslave or kill you, but it makes a story such as it is. Game Play It is a Renp'y game so mostly click and be tricked or actually make the right choice. Right choice mostly depending on how far down the sex trail you wish to go or dodge. Graphics I have to say the animations, and attention to detail are mostly amazing, and over all really great eye candy. Amazingly erotic models, awesome booties on the females in the game, and reasonably handsome main character males. ( I personally am very glad they did not over endow most of the ladies with those water Mellon breast's. ) " Some are quite large, but mostly it appears to me for story reasons " There are some truly vile and disgustingly perverted old men, who do all kinds of perverted, and sleazy things to the pretty girl's, with a few rather nasty looking, and vile femdom lady's who do the same. These are well done for what they are suppose to be, and quite loathsome to look at, which I am sure is the plan. ( I personally for story and erotic perversion like these a lot .) Puzzles There not overly hard, but can be a time waster when you are trying to push through and catch all the optional events in the game. Are miss in my case because I skipped over a lot of text trying to get on with the story after becoming bored with some of it. Over all To rap this up, although I could say a lot more about this one. It is a great game for those seeking an alternate universe that is about erotic, and sometimes lewd, and crude adult things. A game that will probably tickle your privates, and desired funny bone. IF you like this one Check out there other titles, they are it seems somewhat connected to the same alternate universe, and sort of interconnected. 1. Autumn Boulevard ( This one is great but somewhat painful to play as they took strange options with the RPGM game engine ) 2. Holly Smiles at the End ( I did not like this one at first, but after they Fleshed it out more it became a most enjoyable game over all. )

An incredibly hot story with a wide variety of corruption paths. Peak romance is when a girl cucks their flaccid husband and finds love in their sexual blackmailer. Incredibly cinematic. Definitely recommend it, but I recommend based on the sex scenes. I don't enjoy the eldritch horror main story - it's just too much exposition in a sex game. You can hold skip through a lot of the main story stuff to get to the sex scenes though, and they're hot af so I still highly recommend this game.

Whilst the horror aspects are fairly well done, Of Birds and Bees overall is very bad. The pace is slow yet light-speed rushed, it looks terrible, lewd scenes have no reason to be non-existent, and it seems to be wanting to be a bigwig staple in AVNs by just mentioning Lovecraft in the description. There's a few bits that I did like. The female models (MC, her co-worker and the lady from the gym) were enticing and the OST was a welcome surprise. Yes, that's it. Now, there's a bit of renders beyond that grainyness, pace -as mentioned above- was catastrophically sluggish, it kept introducing 300 characters every second which made it impossible to keep up with the story [it really, really wouldn't have hurt to give relevant characters different colours to their name so as to quickly distinguish who's speaking! MC's and her co-worker's colour were the same!!!!! Only one character has a "color =" variable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ] and the script just stopped being relevant after the first backroom scene. I will admit I've never read any H.P Lovecraft, but in doing so it's painfully obvious that dev did and that is not a good thing, as that's what happens when you need to come up with buzzwords to draw people in and have then carry everything else, rather than let it speak for itself and have it there as a fly on the wall. Yet my biggest pet peeve wasn't even coming out life but a whole different sport: the lack of punctuation marks. More specifically, a full stop. In Every. Single. Phrase! Why, oh why was it so biblically difficult to just type "." at the end of a phrase!? There's plenty of questions marks, yet no full stop. I gave this one extra star because of the good things I had to say about this. But it still has one too many stars simply due to the fact that it needed to place the name of a famous author in order to make it stand out, the renders look awful, the story is ultimately boring, the lewd scenes are a molecule of water on the Sun and, all in all, it was very carelessly put together by committing unbelievably avoidable mistakes such as writing.

Probably repeating the comments of others. The technology behind the novel is definitively an older one. Cannot compete with the current standards given in newer ones. The story is also not so my kind of storylines I'm interested in. So overall average for an older novel, you can watch and decide within an hour, if you want to go on or not

This VN has a looooot of story. I’d estimate at least 20 hours of reading - maybe more - so in terms of content, I really can’t complain. The story revolves around a young, beautiful woman and a large supporting cast, many of whom get nearly equal screen time. Most of them are caught in a conflict between gods or godlike entities from various cultures, mythologies and religions. This overarching plot occasionally erupts into gory, horror-filled interludes that are quite intense. On the adult side, the game features a group of lecherous, old, ugly, fat - or all-of-the-above - bastards who are only interested in one thing: dominating, abusing, and fucking the MC and other young girls. There’s also a lesbian subplot with a similar dom/sub dynamic - and naturally, the boring but modest route is still there for the pure-hearted. My biggest complaint is that the porn feels too detached from the main story. Often, it seems like there are two separate narratives running in parallel - one focused on dark supernatural horror, the other on hardcore corruption porn. I would have preferred a more seamless integration. Still, if you're into corruption, domination, and ugly bastards doing pretty teens, this VN will probably scratch that itch. Just be aware: between the hot scenes, you’ll be doing a lot of reading. Personally, I found the main story engaging enough to make it worth the time. Story 2/10 This was such a snoorfest I almost fell asleep with my dick in my hand. Gameplay VN/10 A few choices that appear to be meaningful with A TON OF TEXT. Renders 6/10 GIrls looked okay but dated at times and the ugly bastards were ugly ofc but looked like they're wearing a fat suit or something, the quality of their models was not good. Amount of Content 3/10 I commited a sin and used the Skip Unseen Text function to reach some porn cause it was so boring and it was taking way too long. the problem is not the amount but the way it's spread out. The distance between scenes is absolutely massive. (If you actually read the text) Overall a 2.5 generic VN with a few good female models.

AVNs and horror is a combo that isn't explored much but when it is done well it certainly warrants attention. So that is how i found myself here but unfortunately i didn't enjoy what was presented. The dev has definitely tried to give us a story with a well established background for it's characters and setting but it just doesn't work well enough to be compelling and feels more like a exposition dump rather than world building some of which is very jarring and convoluted to the overall plot I am guessing the dev isn't a native english speaker which is completely fine but some of the sentence formations make no sense when read out loud , someone needs to help clean up the script cause it fucks with you while you are reading through it Despite it's glaring flaws it's the horror element that is the strongest aspect of the game which i feel the dev focused most on as it manages to keep up this tense and very eerie feeling all throughout the game , the choice of music also does help in that regard The characters aren't really easy on the eyes and most feel like they had botched plastic surgery with bloated lips , crazy looking eyebrows and makeup unless ofc it was intentional to make the player feel uncomfortable , if so well done , the renders despite being heavily saturated with this film grain like effect all throughout the game provides a dream like feeling to the whole experience which i feel is a good thing Overall i commend the dev for trying something different from the rest but the execution leaves a lot to be desired , i might come back to it once it's completed but i doubt this far down the devleopment pipeline it's gonna make much of a difference which is a shame

Whatever you want to say about DiscipleOfVirginia's games, they aren't your generic western porn game slop you typically find around these parts. The man (or girl) definitely has a type - the sex scenes will almost invariably involve a young feisty PAWG being turned into a sub by a dominant unattractive man or by some sort of mean lesbian - but he (or she) makes quality smut. But the true reason these games are memorable is the reason I can't give this game 5 stars - the plot. There's an interesting setup in the beginning, he gets a nice lovecratian horror vibe going... and then it turns into a long, overindulgent, convoluted, anime-ass, world-building fever dream; piling up new side-characters, whose names you can't help but forget, by the dozen right until the final chapter. Invariably I begin to lose interest after 5 to 8 hours. I fast-foward to see how long it will be until the next sex scene and am filled with despair, black makeup suddenly streaming down from my trembling eyes as the renders continue to flash before me for what seems like an eternity. Then I altF4 and go watch a Teen Pies video instead. But I guess I'll give it another try when v0.9 drops as I am no longer capable of using my own imagination to get myself off

The renders are great and that's about it. The story is long and really weird. When all you want is get to the points of the story where there is ntr and sex, it's long even when skipping everything. So much time spent to show a really weird story that mostly nobody wanna hear about. I really wanted to see the scenes but there is no gallery at the time and the game just crashed midway when it was a while since I last saved so it pissed me off.

Agreeing with most of the reviews here. Here's my quick summary as someone who prioritises the porn: Sexy renders poorly spaced between far too much bloated story. There is something here for fans of spanking, ugly bastards, and bimbofication (one long scene at the end of Amy's Bimbo route). That's the summary. I will also say that the renders at the end of the Bimbo path for Amy are great, and likewise the BDSM segment at the end of Liam's path. The last of Klaudia's scenes offers a great 'classroom' spanking scene too. You can play all the routes at once - HOWEVER - the end of Amy's Bimbo route blocks the others mentioned above so if you want to see them all you'll have to blitz through it twice (ctrl is your friend). RAMBLE/CRITIC With all that being said... I HATE this game for 3 reasons: 1. It's bloated - there's about 1 hour of porn and 10 hours of story (bloat). Every time things look like it's getting into something good porn-wise, the scenes will be interrupted by the story. Speaking of which... 2. The story - it's poorly written drivel that goes on WAY too long. It's also almost completely disconnected from the porn scenes here which are arbitrarily incorporated into a weird lovecraftian horror. The fact that you can choose no routes and therefore skip all of the porn says it all. 3. Lack of payoff. The TpH (Tits Per Hour) is poor, and aside from the spanking (which is plentiful) and the scenes mentioned at the top of this review. There's basically nothing here worth the time investment. Shit, I even went back through it a couple times holding ctrl down the whole time to see if there were any more worthwhile scenes and it took me a good 5-10 minutes to reach the end each time because of all the bloat mentioned before. 2 stars. One for high quality renders and one for effort.

This is not a "game". This is not a "Visual Novel". Hell, this is barely a "Kinetic Novel". It's basically a linear story with images. I think... there is a word for that. A "comic" maybe? It's just that the writing and the drawings are... definitely pulp-level. Barely worth the medium it's printed on, and this one isn't even pulp paper.

Alright, I've "played" this game. I'm saying 'played' in the most generous term of the word, as there is really not much playing involved. Nonetheless, I will rate this as a game. In VN/Ren'Py type games I look for meaningful choices and the impacts my decisions have. It an additional cherry on top if the other characters also have relations between each other. Either way, I'm always interested in seeing the MC with the traits provided by the developer be formed by the decisions he/she makes. That brings us to Of Birds and Bees. This isn't really a game - you barely make any decisions and the only ones you do make are route choices - like "Go the Lester route", which then opens that chapter. You do not have any agency at all in this game. You're simply reading a book with 3d generated images. Now, if the game had been marked as a kinetic novel, then that'd be fine. But since it's not, I cannot be anything but disappointed. Here's a short version: Not marked as a kinetic novel despite being one I skipped for longer than I care to admit to find just any player choice. IIRC I go to about 5 decisions. All decicions are all "route-based". I.E. do you want to go the Lester Route. You don't get any other agency than that. No agency. Just a book with added 3d generated images.

Of Birds and Bees really rubs me the wrong way for some reason, probably because it's a collection of tired horror tropes, is too linear/slow, not particularly well-written, thinks being random will make it more interesting, offers “transformation” paths that just switch to completely different character models, and recycles the “bimbo gets abused by a repulsive man” scenario too often. But I'm sure some people will love it for its unusual aesthetics and that's perfectly fine, it just doesn't do it for me.

I literally had to come back and write a review months later just to say this is one of if not my number 1 favorite game on this site... (other contenders probably like Cyberslayers and Goons Raid Her) I still haven't finished playing through Autumn Boulevard but the lore, the tonal shifts, the horror, the renders, and obviously what brought me here in the first place, the ugly bastards, also the oddly tender moments when the ugly bastards face the horrors and bond with the mc... It is truly the greatest western horror VN I've ever seen... And I can't lie the doll tattoo the dumu en (probably misspelling that) I would actually get that tattooed as this game is responsible for getting me into the dollification sub-genre of bimbofication (already was a fan of bimbofication, another under-represented kink on here).. Well done and please finish this Disciple of Virginia; lol I maybe bring this dev up as an erotic horror example more than any other indie dev that's how enamored I am with this and Autumn Boulevard (but I'm more of an Of Birds And Bees fan let's be honest)

Poor Poor Poor - The writing in this game is atrocious, it tries to be smart intelligent and edgy but fails on almost all fronts. The story has POTENTIAL but the writing does not live up to the premise of the story. Everything is long winded and meandering, it's like a movie that's 9 hours long when with a better script writer it could be condensed down to less than 3. If you want some porn in your VN BEWARE, check the pictures on the front page, not counting Oral, their is literally 1-2 actual sex scenes and this VN started in 2019!! What have they been doing you ask? Mainly a horror type plot, and introducing us to 80 damn different forgettable characters. The premise and some of the character models are really good. If you are a slow burn person this will be your jam, if you actually want some adult content. Fast forward pass the story portion and you will get to some hot setups that have zero payoff atm, but the setup is kinda hot. Pretentious and Boring sadly.

I wanted to like this but the story just jumps from place to place randomly within the same thought. Between conversations and internal dialogue, then to a random 'foreshadowing' nonsensical phrase thrown in without a segway to build suspense and mystery, then sudenly cut to another scene. I feel no emotional connection to any characters, you get at brief backstory but they aren't developed at all. The horror and the porn seem like they could both exist independent of each other in two separate games/stories (at least up to the point I played). I would like to believe the horror/mystery gets better but it wasn't keeping my attention enough to bother finding out. The bulk of the story was just purposefully confusing and unexplained concepts masquerading as mystique. The renders are slightly above average overall but some scenes have below grade visuals. Every female character shot, even during mundane conversations, is a pure fanservice closeup of a butt, there was no subtlety.

Incredible game, but not for the faint hearted. It has an interesting horror story and just like the previous game there is a range of character routes that highlight specific fetishes which wont be for everyone but if you enjoy domination, corruption, bimbofication and old/ugly then you will love this game. There is a good amount of ass worship content. I also like how the bimbo and mtf content is tied to side characters, it keeps you caring about their stories. I must give a special mention to the lesbian domination route, its honestly amazing, the slow subtle corruption is great and im really suprised its a rare theme in adult games as it was insanely hot. Renders are great, theres a variety of models. I did notice some clipping during animations which was a shame. One negative i have was during a choice there was no warning that it would lead onto an ending, it was quite alot of content so needed to go back to an earlier save. Im really looking forward to the route endings and hope they are just as depraved as the ones in autumn boulevard.
