Our game is inspired by the works of E. A. Poe, H. P. Lovecraft (duh!) and the cult classic adult horror visual novel Divi Dead. Our story starts in 1985 (Doc!). The main protagonist is a young man that starting his life as a student along with his two best friends, at the prestigious Willowtown University situated on the island. It's also a sort of homecoming for our hero, who left the island as a child with his mother, but doesn't really remember anything from that part of his younger life. Troubled with his nightmares and finding himself surrounded by sinister forces, what will happen to him and his friends all depends on your choices.

The Shadow Over Willowtown SE 2.023 • Story update to Episode 2 Part 3 • Fixed a major bug with persistent variables that shouldn't have been. • Added a previous choices section to correct the variables affected, shows up at end of chapter or loading an end save. • Added a new Profile section - menu appears in-game after getting the first entry, during a new game or after the correction of the variables mentioned above so the past entries added are correct as well. • New gallery section called "VNC" at the top center of the gallery with a side story and some extra smut (and more to come) • Added the Profiles and a Quit button to the quick menu. • Raised the mobile Quick Menu on small screens for easier touch on mobile. The Shadow Over Willowtown SE 2.02 -- Story Update -- New Gallery Design Episode 2 - v2.0 Special Edition New story update. Episode 1 - v1.18 Special Edition Here it is! We concluded Episode 1 of TSOW. It took us more time than we initially expected, thanks to DAZ being uncooperative, but we did it. We have six new videos in this update, lots of new sounds and music, because those are important for every horror story, in my opinion, and we introduced almost all of the most important characters. Even Dev said he enjoyed the story, and he usually only cares about porn, so I guess I did something right. As I said before, while this is the end of Episode 1, our story has just begun. Unfortunately, this is also the last free Chapter release. All future chapter releases will be available only to our subscribers at certain tiers. So, that means the full Episode 2 will be available for free, but only when we release Episode 3 for our patrons. If you're patient, you can wait, or if you are not, you can join us on one of our platforms. Love you all, no matter what you decide and until the next time, I wish you all good fun and good health! Devlog for v1.8 -Slapped Lov in the fucking head for his comment (I am completely and utterly...not very offended lol. When your right, your right.) -Added multiple angle swapping scene playback (we only use 2 so far, but its designed for as many as we need) -Broke the ren'py image gallery I was using (technically it was already broken and I just noticed) -Replaced the image gallery with a quick hack to make sure you got your bonus renders...it will be fixed in the next update to not go back to page one, i'll llikely be replacing the entire gallery because it's irritating me and it was the very first thing I ever slapped together in ren'py. -Fixed the font changing erratically halfway when switching back to english. Ya, thats about all I can remember this time. I was busy working on multiple mini-games (see previous post/log), and thats likely going to be my focus right now once the gallery is fixed, unless Lov needs something specific. I really killed ren'py during the initial release...now i'm just making shit up to keep my job lol. I do want to give a shout out to Joel for all his hard work, the Spanish Localization is entirely up to date for the entire story already, no separate release just for Spanish. Other than that I said everything I had to say a day or two ago...so i'll be over here kicking the shit out of ren'py and Lov if you need me. Till next time. Episode 1 - v1.16 Special Edition • Full Spanish Localization Added (can be changed on the preference screen) • Text To Speech Added/Updated to work for both languages. • Minor UI changes to accomodate the new language. • Previous custom keymap bug fixed • Other mior bug fixes Episode 1 - v1.15 Special Edition Episode 1, Chapter 2 is here! This update concludes the events of the first day, evening and night and ends in the morning of the 2nd day at Willowtown University. We also introduced all of the main female characters - but there are still many side ones. The male characters... Well, nobody really cares about those, right? "i just read that while mixing our logs and even i'm laughing --Dev" After this, we have one, last chapter that will conclude Episode 1 and our cycle of free releases per chapter. Starting with Episode 2, chapter releases will only be available to subsribers in those Tiers that have access to them. That said, the game will be free for all, but retroactively: after we finish Episode 3, Episode 2 will be free and can be found on any of our sites including itch.io . We hope you like the game so far. Until the next time, we wish you good fun and good health! All subscriptions are 50% off on any of our sites. SUBSCRIBE STAR Boosty Patreon - Promo Code: 46751 Devlog from 'The Dev' (updated) • Intro skip The intro can now be clicked through entirely, may take a couple clicks (or taps on mobile) due to the transitions, but it works...on PC you can also use any mouse button or hit Enter, Escape, etc. to avoid that issue. • Interface font Added a font choice for the entire UI in all versions, now selectable in the preferences/options menu. All original fonts except Courier New and Comic Sans MS have been included. Those made keeping the interface lined up nearly impossible. Made the menu buttons text instead of images that nowbchanges with the new interface fonts for translation purposes. • Improved Outline selection You can now choose the direction of outlines as well as the thickness to help make the font/color choices more customizable and easier to see. • Panic Button Added a Panic Button accessible by pressing 'p' or 'P' (to avoid accidental caps lock when tab skipping) and returns to the game using the same button. Updated and mapped to the Guide / Steam / PS button as well since the original update. The Panic Button brings up a clone of the main menu without any extras that might hint at adult content (I.E the Gallery button) From the 'panic menu', you can Start a new game in 'Replay' mode which will not lose your current progress (for those extremely nosy people), as well as click 'Help' to abort the game immediately or click 'Quit' to end the game with confirmation, either will save your progress in the first quick slot so you can get back to the game after the moment of panic. • Gallery Update Added a third button to the gallery type selection at the bottom to prevent the buttons from switching in different sections and confusing people. • Continue Button Added a 'Continue' button to the load game menu screen for quick access to your last save (does not use autosaves by design) • Preference Reset Added a 'Reset' button under the Performance tab in the preferences screen to reset all options to default, the only other method would be to delete persistent data...and we don't want that. - may be required ONCE on mobile to set the UI size properly. • Updated About Section Updated the credits in the about section, including an entirely new thanks section to users who helped us and beta tested for us. Updated again since the code update to include more people, which include the people who funded any of our sites so early in our project. We apppreciate the show of support! • Manual Save At the end of each version, skipping is halted and you are prompted with the option to save manually (or quit the game) before the credits, the autosave was left intact regardless and saves in the first empty save slot PAGE starting with page 10. • Keymap / Controller binding change Added experimental controls to switch tabs in the Preference, About, and Help screens using the A and D keys, or the Left and Right Trigger if your using a gamepad. If the remap isn't desired it will be removed. • Translation Prep Designed the game for ease of translation after a few offers from users to do them (next update may include spanish), this is behind the scenes...but it involved me gutting text from the entire UI to other files, it was likely the most work in the entire update. Translators now have 2 base files of just strings that should never change, and only a few others that couldn't be removed, aside from story obviously. • Warning and intro are shorter in general. • End credits faster. • Removed the Tier joke in the credits • Added more insults during credits. • Laughed...hard. (It's all in good fun) Known Issues • Androiid saves before 1.04 broken. Unfortunately my SSD crashed and I was forced to make a new Android key file, so users who played the mobile version before version 1.04 will need to restart once. (it won't happen twice--the new key is on multiple external media including DVD) • Tab switching keys stop working. This is likely due to previous mappings or multiple screens visible at once, i'm working out the bugs. • Language glitch Due to the language additions coming, users may need to click on English once in preferences to make the Ancient Medium font show up in the list again due to a new persistent variable and language autodetect. Episode 1 - v1.01 Got a lot of backlash over the intro, you can now skip through it--as much as I could possibly make it without redoing it entirely. Episode 1 - v1.00 Initial Release

This one is a mixed bag for me so far. As a horror story the game didn't have the time to give too much insight how the atmosphere will be. Some vibes are there, but so far it was rather tame and didn't hit the spot yet. I like the overall theme and would be excited to learn more. The MC seems quite well written. He is neither a doormat nor a meathead, often times thinks before he acts, and looks decent. Only gripe would be the comical oversized dick, but that is sadly common in VNs. Quick note for the "best friend": he is, as so many, completely unnecessary and waste of content. On top of that, there is already NTR on the horizon... The girls range from good to great looking. They're quite different and cater to a lot of tastes. At the beginning, there is acertain side girl that you can decide to have a sex scene with or not. Probably foreshadowing a lot of one-time side content. The sex scenes itself are mediocre, just a badly animated one picture with different angles. Later on there is an unavoidable scene with Lenore, lots of flirting without player input - this part of the game feels too kinetic without any choices. Bad sign. The mentioned NTR comes in the form of a LI already dating the "best friend", side girls talking nasty about MC while having boyfriends, etc. Nothing deal-breaking (yet). But completely unnecessary and of course unavoidable. Oh and of course drugs. Thumbs down, forcing an addiction into a story is disgusting. That should be a choice before anything happens, it isn't. Big fail. It is very early, so a lot can happen and many of those points could be changed. From what I read of the devs in this thread, they're both flexible with ideas and have a certain plan how the game should come out. Everyone should at least try it for themselves and see, if these things bother them as much as it did for me.

This is a review of the first release. Quick note: The dev fixed the issue with the unskippable intro. Now you can skip most of it the first time through and then go into the preferences and turn off the intro completely. It's clear that some effort that has been put into the game UX elements. This game doesn't have entirely standard Ren'Py controls, with a custom pointer, expanded preferences options and decent sound and music. I do wish the rest of the AVN got that same level of attention. Storyline: The first version doesn't even include one full day, so take all of this with an appropriately-sized grain of salt. I'm very much looking forward to someone doing a really good horror-themed AVN. From what I've seen so far of the story, the writer needs to work a bit more on his craft. The story feels rushed in spots and relies entirely too much on exposition. You start the game in a dream, but that's not where you get asked your name. They wait until you wake up and you ask your friend who you are and what you're doing there, except that isn't realistic. He didn't hit his head, nor is it established that he has trouble remembering everything past a few minutes. In real life if a friend woke up and asked me who they were, who I was and what we were doing there, I'd call an ambulance. If you want to set the stage, have an intro by the "dev" like you have a closing scene with the dev at the end of the initial release. Or have the main character try to remember his name and situation while in the dream. Atmosphere: Atmosphere is critical for a good horror story, and there are a few decent points where it is hinted at that all is not quite right. But as with the story, this is rushed and the overall arc of the story is pretty clear before we even get into things. Let tension build over time. You can reward observant people with visual hints, but the bad guys shouldn't be out in the open this early. The writer also seems not to be a native English speaker. That's fine, as it's not bad. You can still clearly understand what the writer is trying to say, but given the weakness so far in the story, it's not helping matters. Comic Sans definitely isn't the best choice for a story like this, but thankfully you can adjust the font with several options in the preferences. Art: The art is all Daz gen-3 style, which isn't a problem in-and-of-itself, but something you should be aware of. On the positive side, for gen-3 some shots are pretty well fleshed out with props so the scene feels real and lived-in. However, some scenes are as bare bones as you can get and it makes the game feel even more rushed. Overall: For a new dev, this isn't a terrible start. There's a core of something very interesting here. The game doesn't need to be scrapped, but it does need a lot of polish. I gave my rating one extra star for the dev fixing the Intro so quickly and the dev spending time on the UX. I certainly hope the story improves.
