Right now I'm planning for the Codex update for 0.8.0, assuming everything goes smoothly. Which it doesn't; that much I can guarantee.

Note: Codex hasn’t updated with the couple minor characters in this build, the re-rendering the animations took too much time to make the required renders for them. It will be updated soonish.

There are couple things that got reverted, again. Nothing major, fixed for 0.5.0 already. Right...

Note that if you haven't played the first game, you may not enjoy it as much as you could, and this review may not align with your experience or expectations! First, it's a sequel to a Talothral game, which means that there's a healthy (possibly excessive to some) mix of catching up with what has happened in the intervening time. That's a caveat that some people may not enjoy, but I don't have anything against. (In subsequent playthroughs I'm far more likely to skip through some of those bits, but it helps build universe and remind us of who the kids are, who has kids, and all of that, so it's important and I won't be docking points for this.) Second, this one has audio! It is well done, it isn't excessive, and it adds to the playthrough. The first one not having audio isn't a problem either, but having or not having matters to some people, so it's worth noting that the music matches the state of play/story, and the SFX are limited and well done. With that out of the way, the story is still a bit of an unknown, but it's a cosy ride. You can see more or less where it's going (directionally), but there are still some swerves from the main plot. Nothing has been unrelated to date, and there are reasons, or past points, which drive the story where it's going. While there are points of tension, it remains 'cosy' enough like a good book. For those here for the lewd content, it's still there. Not full animations, and fairly basic scenes, but they are there. (I don't rate for this content, I'm just saying that the usual is there.) I know the lack of animations and other improvements to the lewd content will be an issue for some, but it's likely that keeping this down allows for the rapid rollout of content, so it's worth the trade-off. Lighting is improved from the first game, and some of the effects look a bit better. The sets are bit more consistent (no minor between render changes, not that they're worth docking points for either). In terms of content, it's a game that you can still 'just read' and barely glance at the visuals, but the visuals can be used to clarify anything that isn't already clear. There shouldn't be any real points of confusion. As I said, it's cosy. As with all other Talothral content, it's something that is fairly easy to read. It doesn't require a specific mood. And while the content is fairly vanilla, it feels like a story-first experience with a bit of sex thrown in with optional relationship pathing. (Being a sequel, it's worth noting the canon path is 'everyone'.) This is posted against 0.8.1 release, though I don't expect the need to change it based on Talothral's standards.
Well, after trying this one im just glad that it was short enough to create an opinion about skipping all the rest games of this dev. And most of those games, like this one - have 4-5 stars rating - just how?! How low your expectations must be to praise such weak projects?! Actually i shouldn't wondering because same shit goes (just an example) with John Wicks trilogy... which is overrated pile of dogshit. So back to this game. Yes, i get it - you need to play at least both parts of this Sorcerer to have complete opinion, but after finishing surprisingly short version 0.7 of second part where you just skipping through ugly and boring sex scenes to continue reading below average story just because it's less painful than sex scenes...your wtf level are going through the roof. Just WHY?! Its 4/10 for me and lets finish on this, because i already wasted more time that this game worth.
I really enjoyed the first chapter of this game. The characters are interesting and 3-dimensional (in personality, not just graphics), the world-building is rich and consistent, and the plots continue to be interesting, creative, and engaging. Whenever a game I like releases an update, I always faintly worry that this update might be disappointing -- that has never happened with this game. The writers have plenty of territory to cover before resolving the tensions in the various parts of the story, and I'm looking forward to it all.
A great sequel to a great urban fantasy AVN. It's awesome seeing the offspring from all the pregnancies from the first one. Looking forward to seeing how we deal with the inquisition and the cult. Already meeting some great new characters, both LIs, new friends, and new allies.
Review v0.5.1 If you have played any of the other Talothral games (Sorcerer, Terminal Reach (1 and 2), or Tribulations of a Mage) then you know Tal's style. Excellent story, great and varied LIs, and an adult interesting MC. This game picks up a few years after the first Sorcerer so the LIs that were established in that game are still here with their small children. The MC will again need to save the world while meeting and romancing even more LIs. This is not a disservice to his existing LIs, as a magic House of power it is expected that the head of the house sire as many heirs as possible and all his LIs understand this. He does this respectfully while still loving and treating his existing LIs very well. When I say the LIs are varied, I mean varied like few other games. Trolls, werewolves, sprites, a muscly half-titan, spirits, elves, grandmothers, gorgons, a demon queen and others I am probably not thinking of. And, as in the other Talothral games, the story shines. I can't recommend this game, as well as the other Talothral games, enough. I only support a few devs on Patreon but Talothral is one.
You can never go wrong with Talothral. There is always a natural flow to the way the AVN is written, just as it has been with all the projects. It is nice to see the growth i.e. additions of music and animations. Also, Talo remains supreme in the fact that releases stay consistent; readers don't have to chomp at the bit and wait for months to years on end to get any new content. While I am looking forward to seeing this one to completion, I can't wait to see what is next.
What can I say, its a Talothral Story! Every story he tells—including the sequels—features beautiful, interesting women, has a smooth narrative flow, and moves toward a goal without feeling forced; you can really immerse yourself in them and escape reality for a bit. His erotic scenes are harmonious and tender. He works consistently, reliably, and always finishes the job. I’m a patron of his, and I’m very happy to be one because I appreciate his work. He’s one of the few developers who really delivers. Thank you!
While this was short overall this looks to be a decent start to the new game, highly anticipate more. The first one was amazing. I am happy to see the cast is coming back with the addition of a time gap to allow new threads.
